How frustrating lg&t but you are right, healthy babies come first. Keep going for the turn though......all fours, head down, bottom up constantly. You didn't mention dignity did you? Its still possible.

Have you googled for any other theories for turning babies? Might do that for you now.....

How big do they reckon this baby is? I still think a very experience midwife could help you through a breech birth. Keeping my bottom up for you

largegin, I also agree that safety is more important - that was one of the reasons I screamed for a section with the dts since they were breech. However, I'm jsut wondering how they know the baby is huge? My growth scan weight estimates with the dts were waay out! By at least 1lb each. ds1 was 9lb7. That hurt but pretty straightforward, but he was head down. I hope you get something sorted, and I do agree about they can still change position. My dts didn't turn breech unitl after 36 weeks!

My boys started preschool today . It was heaven, peace and quiet. I spent the mornign planning all the things I am goign to do with my new free time. The boys seem to be settling, though I did know it wasn't going to be a breeze. I asked Rav if he liked it 'No!' and if he was goign to go again 'No!'. They seemed to have had fun though.

Twinmummyx2 · 19/04/2007 16:11

My babies turn and turn and turn til the last min too...with 4th singleton i had to go into hospital...they waited a week til he went head down again then quickly broke my waters whilst 2 midwives were pushing on my tummy so he didn't wriggle back up, they were hoping that the gush of the waters would bring him down..and it did!

With my 1st twins i had c-sec as presenting baby was transverse and 2nd was breech.

2nd set were head town all the way, til 40 weeks and 2nd twin went breech, they said i could still have natural birth though...but labour fizzled out and had c-section 2 days later as i couldnt be induced becasue of bleeding too heavy.

Over here the rule is if the baby is estimated to weigh more than 7 and a half pound they won't attempt a breech natural delivery. The don't turn babies either.

But if your baby has been breech for sometime then he sounds comfy!...lol

Keep trying!!!!...1,2,3...bottom in air and all that...!!

MarsLady · 19/04/2007 16:14

LG&T... what about natural breech? A footling breech birth is rather lovely. Do you have any experience mws down there?

Twinmummyx2 · 19/04/2007 16:17

Awwww kelly...boys at pre-school...and free 'you' time Horrahhhhh!!!!!

Did you find it less worrying becasue they have each other??? i did with my boys...yet another good reason tohave multiples

will catch up as much as i can before the jacket potatoes are ready for dinner...

Twinmummyx2 · 19/04/2007 16:20

Charleymouse-your boys are gorgeous. Will be thinking about you and your family.x

MarsLady · 19/04/2007 16:28

I love pre-school. When my DTs went in I danced a dance of joy and liberations!

Twinmummyx2 · 19/04/2007 16:40

Dosen't look like me 2nd set will be going to pre-school, there isn't one in my catchment and its very hard getting them in elsewhere..the private ones are too expensive.

Will have to teach them the basics myself....will ahve to get a nursey rhyme tape....can't remember that many of them!

Kelly1978 · 19/04/2007 16:42

twinmummy I was actually more worried with the dts, especially dt1, because he is the clingiest of the lot. And they don't particularly like each much anyway. I was so stressed this morning, then when I got home, I jsut breathed a huge sign of relief. I'm be doing the happy dance once they go in without screaming.

btw, I've also got myself a very ncie homestart volunteer, who is going to help me do some things with the boys that are kjust impossible without help, like going swimming and painting. So things are looking good.

My main problem is ds1. From being covered in poo tuesday, yesterday he was left with a filthy cut knee all day and today he legged it out of the classroom at the end of the day and wasn;t there when I went to pick him up. Really not sure what I am going to do with him/them.

Kelly1978 · 19/04/2007 16:43

I can never quite get my head around a breach birth. Right way roudn you deliver the worst bit first and then the body comes out in one go. What happens with a breech? DO you have to push for longer? Does the body still come out easily? Am I being too nosy?

frumpygrumpy · 19/04/2007 18:28

Kelly you get breech where feet come out first (Mars can confirm if this is footling)or, in my case bottom first (I will need to ask DP to clarify . I think babies can be cross legged too but I'm not sure if anyone can ever deliver vaginally for that Mars......?

It was a bit easier for me as DT1 had already paved the way for DT2 and I only had 16 minutes to wait for him. I was aware of there being lots more encouragement for strong pushing but I was so high on adrenalin at that point that pushing came easily. I didn't ask if I poo-ed the table

I think doctors get edgy because of possible problems to the brain and spine because the head can end up rushing out at the end or worse, get stuck!

Anyway, I hate to hear of c-sections just because of lack of experience in breech, especially when the mum would like to try.

kelly my DT2 was feet first, like FG I think DT1 had made the path a little easier for her to navigate but her head did get a bit stuck and they rushed her off to check for breathing problems but she was fine. Pushing her was easier than DT1 and again like FG I didn't ask the poo question, some things are best unknown

dingdongjustforyoufg · 19/04/2007 19:01

just added a new pic of the cheeky girls taken Easter weekend, growing up so fast

tkband3 · 19/04/2007 19:48

lg&t I've heard that acupuncture can work wonders for turning babies. A friend at my ante-natal class was transverse till 37 weeks (I think) but with the help of acupuncture and lots of all fours with bottom in air position, the baby turned and she had a lovely easy, quick labour . Might be worth a try if you can find a practitioner local to you? As far as I'm aware you don't have to have lots of sessions either, so you're not too late.

My DTs start at pre-school tomorrow, but it's just their settling in day so I will be hanging around just in case. DD1 is so excited that they're going to school with her and they got their school bags the other day (just the plastic folder type ones) but they carry them everywhere at the moment! I think DT1 will be fine, but DT2 is a bit more clingy and has been poorly this week with tonsillitus again, so will wait to see if she's up to it in the morning.

Love the new pic dingdong .

MarsLady · 19/04/2007 19:50

The head getting stuck is something that happens when people pull. With a breech you sit on your hands and do nothing. Just catch the baby. The head has to do a funny little wiggle at the end so that it can come out. If you pull then it doesn't wiggle and it gets stuck.

Mary Cronk is your woman for breeches. Her website is full of info. Feet first = footling... that's right FG. Then there's bottom breech and if I remember correctly cross legged is true breech... but I've just spent the last 6 days at 3 emergency births and so my brain ain't doing what it oughta!

Kelly1978 · 19/04/2007 21:14

You are def right about the pulling mars, I've jsut seen a fascinating but slightly gruesome video on youtube of a breech birth where they just kept pulling and pulling, and I was inwardly screaming let her push him out! Poor baba! COuldn't find a decent one.

gorgeous pic, dingdong.

frumpygrumpy · 19/04/2007 21:26

OMG you looked on youtube for breech births . LG&T, please go and set up your videolink for us......

Mars, wow, you busy girl. Do you just get the call and run? How do you organise childcare at short notice? I'm booking you for my next one (PMSL!).

Hi dingdong, how was the wedding?
