dingdong... she probably got a bit stuck because they pulled! Breech babies are definite hands off births!

MrsJ..... try and see if Michel Odent is in the country... or email Mary Cronk and ask her if she has French contacts. Will copy and paste this to your thread lol!

Kelly1978 · 27/03/2007 09:54

I'm amazed at all these stories about breech babies and sections. Mine were both breech, and I had to beg for my section, as the consultant was adamant that she wanted to pull them out of my vagina if necessary. I admire you for standing your ground though, if I hadn't had a collapsed lung I would have been keener on a vaginal.

dt2 is all packed up, I need the address piximom!

largeginandtonic · 27/03/2007 10:14

Morning everyone.....mmmmm, cake baking not for me, no kitchen at all for me in fact and i LOVE the kitchen >

Mars the consultant was a beast, he tried spouting statistics about breech babies having disastrous outcomes, then moved on to studies of pre term babies which even he had to admit in the end were inconclusive. My two most favourite parts of the conversation were him telling dh all about my other 3 pregnancies (after the twins EMLSCS) being high risk and benefitting greatly from hospital monitoring, and hadnt i been better off then listening to advice from the hospital....at which point i pointed out to him they had ALL been at home.......i nearly peed my pants. He asked me how i felt about the increased risk of being a grand multip, i smiled and said i would have syntometrine for the 3rd stage instead of a natural one like i normally do

Harrogatemum · 27/03/2007 12:35

talking of cake baking - the DTs and I have made fairy cakes this morning.

However DT2 wanted to use Green AND Pink Food Colouring so the icing is a sort of red brown colour. Nice.

LG&T - you stand your ground girl!

Twinmummyx2 · 27/03/2007 13:32

Afternoon all......i really can't be bothered today...was hunting round town this morning for nintendo ds lites for my twins 6th birthday tmrw....and there are none...this is such a crap island sometimes...surely the shops can see when they are getting low and stock and then put an order in....??!!..but they all said try tmrw...so will be trying tmrw...got them the games they wanted, just not the consoles....

...oh and about darren having a cold and then last night leaving the toilet roll (not the used stuff) in the lounge for DD7 and DS8 to find before me.....the andex puppies have done their worst!

One of them days me thinks...

how is everyone else?

Twinmummyx2 · 27/03/2007 13:33

andrex...not andex

estar · 27/03/2007 13:55

Triplets, I will be doing that soon - showing people round our flat and I'm not looking forward to it as it will make it hit home that we are really moving! Don't think that a quick whip round could make mine presentable tho - I'll probably need a week's notice! Well done x

tmx2, what is it with children and toilet roll? We no longer keep ours on the dispenser because they can unravel it in seconds. Doing it with their bare hands is starting to lose interest for them as its far too slow!

Kelly - forgive me first of all for being nosey and second of all for being lazy instead of trawling thru the past 'D'ya ever' threads, but I was reading your old thread last night about what originally happened with the kids and ss, etc. Glad that things have settled down since and they seem to be getting off your back. Was just wondering what happened with you and your dp - did you get back together? Feel free to ignore me if I'm being rude by asking tho

estar · 27/03/2007 18:37

Oh yes. I am no longer inferior to the rest of you domestic goddesses in the kitchen. Tonight, my children ate...spinach! Willingly!

Let me share my wisdom:

Chargrilled Chicken and Bacon pasta with Spinach (it wasn't supposed to be chargrilled but my timing is never very good...)

Ingredients:
1 DVD
Chicken breasts
Bacon
Pasta
Shop's Own Brand BBQ Marinade
Frozen Spinach

Apply DVD to children and allow to sit for 30 minutes
Boil up an appropriate amount of pasta
Hack chicken into small pieces (spearing with fork and dangling over pan while attacking with scissors works best for me)
Ditto the bacon
Fry the meat in a pan
Add half bottle of marinade sauce
(here's the genius bit)
Defrost spinach directly into the sticky meat so it flakes apart and sticks to everything, thus making it impossible for small children to pick it off or identify the taste (masked by BBQ sauce)
Peal pasta out of bottom of dried up pan and add to the rest
Serve smugly

Just call me mrs ramsey...

Twinmummyx2 · 27/03/2007 18:49

Well done you-very sneaky indeed..i am hungry now!

I have never in my whole life bought spinach! It's not something i have ever thought of (apart from when popeye used to be on)....what does it taste like??? I hate all veg accept processed peas-so willing to try......i reakon my boys could be persuaded after seeing how srtong popeye gets .

Anyone else here like spinach?

i am well pleased with myself this evening also....dinner done, house clean and tidy, babies..well toddlers bathed..all organised for tmrw.....! still no nintendos found though.....

Harrogatemum · 27/03/2007 19:16

I LOVE spinach. It is great with fish, especially smoked haddock or something. And its really nice stirred through pasta as estar, aka Mrs Ramsay did, and also nice with pasta with some mascarpone stirred through it as well.

yes its making me hungry...need to heat up last nights left over risotto!

Kelly1978 · 27/03/2007 20:50

ooh estar, I love spinach, Dya reckon that pasta would work cold too? I'm always looking for more lunch ideas. I've got all of that stuff in my freezer too.

estar · 27/03/2007 21:36

It does for a fact Kelly - I was interrupted many times while I was eating it and I can tell you its still nice when cold

Kelly1978 · 27/03/2007 22:19

hm, we have a NEW chef for the meetup

frumpygrumpy · 27/03/2007 22:20

Oh you nip away for a moment.........

Lg&t, i echo stick to your guns. I am a firm believer in going along with mums. In your mind, if you are there, breech birth and all, then the consultant needs to work around that - not the other way round!! The power of thought has its place. Can you ask for another consultants tuppence worth?

Twinmummy, happy birthday to your 6yr olds! Hope the day is a happy one, jeez your mantle must ache under all the cards and that will just be family ones Do you mean the same island I'm on or are you somewhere else in the world?

Hi Kelly, HM, dingdong, estar, pixi, rosmerrin (sympathy) . Mars, tell us about your antenatal class. Are you doing more than pre & post natal doula then?

Been up since 5am so sleeping soon x.

OP posts:
Kelly1978 · 27/03/2007 22:29

def agree with asking for another consultant. When I asked for my second opinion they gave in, I think they were fed up with my screamign and shouting and decided it was more hassle than it was worth.

Hello frump!

frumpygrumpy · 27/03/2007 22:32

Hi doll

OP posts:
Kelly1978 · 27/03/2007 22:35

Where have you been frumps, we've missed you? Why were you up at 5?

frumpygrumpy · 27/03/2007 22:54

I've not been far, just life gets in the way of my ramblings . DP leaves at first light when he's off on his travels. I can never sleep deeply when he is up early and I tend to get up, creep about and turn off the alarm (secretly I don't trust him to be quiet enough ) and I get him some juice and cereal. He needs to eat regulary and keep his blood sugar steady so I make him eat something before he leaves. He would get it himself but I lie awake anyway and I always feel bad he has to go outside in the wee small hours. So I say hello to the day and then, when he leaves, I fall into a deep, deep sleep for a tiny bit of time before the alarm calls. Then I ignore the alarm constantly for half an hour, get up late and start my day in a bad mood

OP posts:
Kelly1978 · 27/03/2007 23:06

gawd, he abandons you early in the morning and you feel bad!!! Hmm, I think you need some educating kel-style!

On the other hadn, dya fancy coming to look after for me for a few days...

frumpygrumpy · 27/03/2007 23:10

Sure my sweet, I will get up at 5am for anyone providing I can sleep for two days solid at weekends . And I'm extremely clean and tidy. I am brushing my teeth.....

OP posts:
frumpygrumpy · 27/03/2007 23:21

And I am kissing the laptop goodnight

Night all, peaceful sleeps to us all x.

OP posts:
Kelly1978 · 27/03/2007 23:23

good night frumps, sleep well.

rosmerrin · 27/03/2007 23:31

LOL estar - when is your recipe book coming out! I cant remember if I saw it on MN or somewhere else but one mum suggested hiding peas and sweetcorn inside penne to fool the kids - brilliant - I think mine might spot it but the mental image it conjures up makes me giggle every time.

Day 2 on solo pox patrol has gone well. Maybe I am not such a terrible mummy after all (dont speak too soon) The DTs do pre-school for all or half of every weekday so the thought of a week without it kind of made me panic, but no one has killed or maimed anyone yet. Although having said that DS3 did fall off a step in the garden and gash his head, but he seemed quite happy about it after the initial shock and a quick cuddle! I think it has helped that I have been able to have them in the garden for almost all today and most of yesterday - more room to run and shout without making mummy crazy with the mess i.e. tipping all the toys out all over the house and not playing with anything, just fighting. So pray for good weather for the rest of the week.

FG if you are still up - go to bed now

Night night all

Kelly1978 · 27/03/2007 23:47

night rosmerrin

MarsLady · 28/03/2007 00:08

Hi all!

Just travelled back from back and beyond where I went to watch a friend run her antenatal classes.

My developing my own came out of the fact that there aren't enough NCT places or NHS ones either. Also, some of my mums who have done them say they wanted something more personal to them. So.... I thought I would develop it up and run with it.

Just need a name and the best name I've ever heard is taken! Sigh..........

Rosmerrin... well done. Big gold star for you. Now make my lemon drizzle cake and people will fall at your feet.

Hope you are sleeping tight FG... I need to finish winding down so that I can go to bed.

Estar.... the move and showing people round will go well.

Overrun.. how you doing?

Pixi.... ditto

HM..... ditto

Kelly.... ditto

to all I've missed in my exhausted state... ditto.
