Hey HM, lovely to see you! You really must pop in more often.

It's been manic here! I qualified as a ride leader with British cycling, and am volunteering with Breeze running cycle rides for ladies. In the new year I'm going to be training as a Bikeability instructor and will actually have a real proper job for the first time in years. Grin Oh, and I'm training for the London marathon next year!

I thought your dh had a stroke? Glad the surgery has been a success. Can't believe your twins are now 10!

Chopstheduck · 09/12/2014 16:05

that is good news, soks!

Oh and happy birthday again shabs! Hope you are having a fabulous time today - you deserve it xxx

HarrogateMum · 09/12/2014 19:01

Chops he did have a stroke is just over two years now. Found this year that he has irregular heartbeat which may have caused it in the first place hence the procedures to try and right it!!

triplets · 09/12/2014 19:32

OMG!! HM..............how lovely.........but er are you forgetting something.....cake?? :o My sister in law had very similar heart problem and she went up to Kings for ablation, that was 2 years ago and fingers x`d she is doing well, so hope your lovely dh continues to do so too. Round up..........er lots to tell...

Minisoksmakehardwork · 09/12/2014 20:22

Well I'm glad that's over! Gave James his melatonin before the school play - did tell them just in case he dropped off halfway through. My parents saw the show so they brought the bigs home. Twins were already in bed so 10 minutes of cuddles and the big two went up to bed with barely a grump. James was asleep before I'd tucked Emily in.

And in other news... (Drum rolls please)... Jennifer and Joshua both used the potty successfully today Grin

Jen kept telling me she had done a poo, though there was nothing there. So I asked if she wanted to sit in the potty and she happily scurried off to the toilet. Couple of ups and and downs with 'I finished' before she sat still long enough. Big hugs and claps there. Then at bath time I took Joshua's nappy off and popped him on the potty. lil man did us a wee. He was so proud bless him. So more big hugs and claps. Looks like I'll definitely be potty training over Christmas then.

Chopstheduck · 09/12/2014 20:36

Ah right, HM. I am glad he is sorted x

Well done to the mini sokletts! Grin

shabbadabbadingdong · 10/12/2014 19:58

Hiya HM - very good to see you here xx

Went to see Mum today. From leaving my house to going through the front door of the nursing home takes 1hour 15minutes!!! When I got off the train and headed to the nursing home it was bloody snowing!!

Mum was happy and thrilled to bits to see me. Seems a nice place just so far away!!

bubby64 · 10/12/2014 21:38

Hi HM xxxxx, nice to see you againGrin , glad everything is going well with your DH, can't belive yours are 10, or mine are 14!!
Shabbs - what an awful journey to see your beloved mum, the thing is, is she settled now? was it the right thing for you a**ehole db to move her there?
Soks- was it at least washable pens? my mates kid used permanent marker all over his face a few weeks agoGrin Nice to meet with your old mate, and nice she is volunteering.
Chops- well done on the walk,
Trips- hope it has settled down your way.

Minisoksmakehardwork · 10/12/2014 22:23

Yep. Felt tips. At least it wasn't the permanent markers like last time... (I can hear you all saying I should have learnt my lesson - and I honestly thought they were out of the way).

Had all the kids in bed super early tonight. James has been restless lately. But they were all asleep early too. Twins before half 5!

triplets · 11/12/2014 00:01

Evening all.......

shabbadabbadingdong · 11/12/2014 00:08

Bubby its a decision that he had to make - its a secure unit but its a feckin' million miles away from my house. Mam seems happy and thats all that matters.

Minisoksmakehardwork · 11/12/2014 07:52

Yay! Kids woke up relatively nicely this morning. Tried getting the twins to give dummies to Father Christmas when he visited preschool yesterday. They did willingly hand them over, or rather, Jennifer did. Joshua went second so was a little reluctant... Anyway, come early bed they were so wound up and distressed I relented and gave them a dummy each - both asleep before half 5!!

This morning I took them away as soon as they woke up. A few tears and tantrums but soon forgotten. Going to be a mean mummy and they will only have them for bedtime now. And I mean it! (I've relented previously).

Even james appears to have gotten out on the right side of the bed. He's already for school. Dressed with barely a whimper, washed and teeth cleaned no problems. Breakfasted and OF HIS OWN VOLITION put his shoes on and on the right feet!! I am so proud of him and made sure I told him. He has still said he doesn't want to go to school. But none of the screaming and rolling round the floor yet. Just in a matter of fact way.

Minisoksmakehardwork · 11/12/2014 07:57

Shabs - I take it you're still not 100% happy :( it's such a shame the other one wasn't secure enough. Does the home feel homely? My aunt moved from a really, really nice and friendly home to one which is basically an institute. It's such a shame but depending on how you phrase a question depends on how she answers it - you can ask the same thing differently and she will give you two different answers.

The unfortunate thing is in a year or two she will have to move again anyway as this home can't care for her as a disabled oap, whereas the other one would have been able to move her from one building to another on the same site so she wouldn't have to change too much.

Hopefully your mam will enjoy herself and the travelling won't be too much of a bind for you.

Chopstheduck · 11/12/2014 08:03

Snow?! Nooooooo! I am really hoping it doesn't snow too much this year. The car def will not cope with it. And I don't fancy training in the snow. Glad your mum is settling down though. x

Soks, I miss those days when they could all be in bed that early! Don't miss the felt tip days or the potty training though! Grin

Rant alert!

So annoyed with dd. Day before yesterday she announced she had to stay after school yesterday to resit a test. School is 4 miles away, car is a rusty unreliable heap of poo, and the late bus is expensive. Another child had taken it home, she said. But her teacher had got angry and told her she should walk home if there were no alternatives.

I was not pleased, sent a slightly arsey email saying that after school wasn't an option atm til we get the car sorted next month, complaining about no notice etc, and that my 14 year old dd was not walking 4 miles in the dark alone.

Email back from the teacher, this was actually the third attempt at getting her into a detention! First two she simply did not attend, so it was understandable that he was getting peed off. It was supposed to be in her record book, so she had lied about that too. Blush

She is getting so deceitful! Sat she was grounded, but allowed out to the library to do some work. Went out with a full face of makeup so i sent ds and dt1 off to check a while later. She wasn't there. She was grounded because it took a full day to clean up her room last week to get it ready for property viewings because it was coated in dust, mould and litter. Plus she had drawn on walls, etched into wood, etc.

She has broken three computers, her tablet, an iPod, and a decent phone. Hence having to go to the library for school work. She is sooo lazy and careless! I have nothing left to sanction her with any more. She is now grounded and I have confiscated her phone.

Chopstheduck · 11/12/2014 08:06

aw soks, will soon be Xmas. I think they do get tired of school towards the end of the term. I wouldn't be too hard on yourself and them over the dummies.

Mine are mostly screaming and rolling around the floor trying to inflict bodily harm on each other this morning! They are so much nicer in the holidays!

triplets · 11/12/2014 08:28

Morning........you have my sympathy with teenage girls. Mine drives me insane, we seem to be continually at each others throats. Take this morning, as she leaves for college she announces she is bringing home a lad she has got friendly with there, he is 18 "she thinks" and wants her to show him her art work......................used to be etchings in my day!! Me and dk were going Christmas shopping but no way am I not being here, they only do half day today so she will be back by 1.30pm. Well I hope she has picked up her mucky washing off of the bedroom floor, I`m not!

shabbadabbadingdong · 11/12/2014 08:42

Morning girls. xx

Its a lovely nursing home - quite a modern building, staff are lovely, each lounge is cosy, warm and decorated like a living room that mum loves - lots of comfy chairs, fireplaces, etc etc.

The staff are all proper 'Lancashire folk!!' They all have accents like Peter Kay!! LOL.

I just wish that Mum didn't have Azheimers and Dad hadn't had such an horrendous form of cancer that left him unable to speak or eat or even swallow. Life is a giant crock really.

I am just moaning about the journey to be honest. I suspect that in the Summer it will be a lovely journey to make. I will get used to it and, more to the point, I think Mum will be happy there.

I can still hear my DKnob of a brother screaming at me - saying horrendous stuff to me that I know is not true BUT once it comes out of his mouth it cannot be taken back. My friends and family tell me to argue back and to put him in his place....I havent got the energy to join in the shouting game - its boring and pointless.

All will be well.........all WILL be well.

MultipleMama · 11/12/2014 15:06

Behave ladies! You're scaring me with teenager talk especially when I just worked out that at one point I'll have a 19, 16, 15, 14, and 13 year old at the same time!

Chops, I think you did the right thing. There's only so much you can and you've done all that you could with your choices. Hopefully, she'll come to realise that at one point she's going to have to fend for herself and should have a little more respect to the people who are raising her and giving her every opportunity to be who she wants to be :) xx

Shabs, I remember when "show him my work" was a code name for something else but my dad had obviously used that line himself and banned DH from my room unless the door was open. Mum was more lenient and gave DH the "condom talk" despite him being in his 20's at the time Grin It worked though, DH was too embarrassed to attempted anything for weeks!

Soks, your LOs sound brilliant! :)

Family are arriving end of next week so I need to set up the spare room and start prep for the Xmas meals. Halo is just a snot monster at the minute and I think Artie is getting it too, she's all red and warm, her voice is about rough too. Fee is back in NICU and doing well :)

MultipleMama · 11/12/2014 15:10

Ahh meant Trips not Shabs! So sleep deprived!

Shabs, glad your mum is settling in and liking it. :) Despite the long awful trek you have to make..

MultipleMama · 11/12/2014 15:11

Oh and hello HM! :)

HarrogateMum · 12/12/2014 07:12

Hello mm nice to meet you! How many children do you have ?????? Sounds like a football team!!

Shabs any journey in this shitty weather would be a right royal pain in the arse but I feel for you. What a nightmare having to go that far just to see your lovely mum. Do you have any generous kindly neighbours or friends with cars that would occasionally take you so you don't always have to be doing the slog?? Obv not your dknob brother ??.

Chops you frighten me...dd is 8 and already answering back and having full on teenage style meltdowns....

Chopstheduck · 12/12/2014 07:27

Morning girls x

Hopefully she is getting them out of the way early, HM! DD was quite sorry yesterday in the end and bought me chocolate! Smile

I am knackered. Night out with the girls last night, then dh wakes me up early this morning for a lift to the station as it was peeing it down. Hoping it stops before my bike ride this morning! Taking a few ladies around Windsor Great Park.

triplets · 12/12/2014 08:02

Morning, well its foul here, very windy, chucking it down, boys coats in the tumble dryer as they need them for school! Dd went off in a huff, slammed the front door on me...........grrrrr . Must get on with the decorating, did the tree on Tues then came to a full stop! So what you all cooking for the big day?

MultipleMama · 12/12/2014 12:35

It's nice to meet you too. I have 7! Enough for my own Ice Hockey team with a substitute! Grin K is 6, A is 3, D-team (ID boys) are 27 months, A-team (b/g twins) are 14 months, and F is 8 week old :)

Weather isn't so bad here today so I may visit the community centre and see when the Russian meet up is.

HarrogateMum · 12/12/2014 16:58

Omg mm two sets of twins?? You are brave. What's the Russian connection? I did Russian at uni but that's so long ago now that I can't remember much! Never used it in the big wide world!!

Trips I am doing fillet of beef with horseradish and wrapped in prosciutto on Xmas day plus all the usual roasties, carrots, green veg plus some kind of veg gratin with squash and leeks and lots of cheese sauce. Might even do yorkshires if my sous chef (my dad) is up to his normal standards (he peels and chops veg whilst I guzzle wine and basically stick the meat in the oven).
