We had a 70's fancy dress party, and I wore a long skirt, big lapelled shirt and tanktop, all of which i managed to get in different charity shops. Other choice is "indian cotton" skirts and shirt or dress, with lots of layers, beads and scarfs, all brightly coloured patterns, oh,and dont forget the patcholi oil!!

bubby64 · 23/01/2012 09:36

Trips- so you had a quiet and well behaved restful weekend without any arguing, fighting, yelling from enraged father or stand-up arguments over rejected as notgoodenoughfirstime and still unfinished homework, plus, of course all the new notevenstarted homework. Bliss, wasn't it!

triplets · 23/01/2012 12:42

Were you a fly on the wall Bubbs? :o
Might have found a top, paisley, long flared sleeves, thought of getting my mum to cut my jeans and put a flowery piece in? Whats patcholi oil?

The other thing ,of course, is A line above knee dress with knee high socks, or flowery full skirt and matching padded waistcoat - then again, there was the skirt with the 2inches of brodelaise anglaise showing at the bottom, Oh. i could go on with my unending trials at following the fashion trends when I was a girl!!
It all ended in disaster in the early 1980s when I dyed my mousebrown hair jet black, and had the white face with blue blusher and black eye makeup and blue lipstick of a dedicated fan of Gary Numan- There are no pics of me at that time, as my mum refused to allow me to be in any family photos looking so horrific!!

Quite fancy an A line dress with kinky over the kness boots as my legs are long

I have some very high wooden wedge sandals Trips - mind you they are only a size 5 - they have a pink pretend leather thick bar across the foot with a big blingy silver buckle on - they are totally beautiful. I bought them for holidays - needless to say they have never been worn!!!

Hopstheduck · 24/01/2012 07:34

My legs are long but also fat and hairy - think hippo on stilts! Wink So no short skirts for me!

I need to go shopping too, I need a superbowl outfit. I have bought a dress from Long tall sally, and boots, but not sure if can get into the boots atm. And i need tights.

this is the dress - could easily be 70s actually! www.longtallsally.com/tall/tops/short-sleeve/diva-tunic/black#

Cos of my height I normally buy tights from Evans - big ones that I can pull up for length. Unfortunately they are normally too big around the waist. Found some lovely mulberry tights. Wore tights to shop, walked around shop, walked back to car, and the crotch has reached my fecking knees!

bubby64 · 24/01/2012 10:25

Good morning all. Can't say i'm that tall, 5'7", but, for my weight, I should be 6ft!!

shabbapinkfrog · 24/01/2012 10:29

Two years ago I was 4ft 11 AND A HALF inches tall....few months ago I had my check up at GP's and I am now 4ft 10 inches??????? Am thinking of auditioning for an Umpalumpa or one of the Seven Dwarves!!!

Hopstheduck · 24/01/2012 10:35

In my head Shabs, you are most definitely blonde! I have no idea why, and I know you have brown hair, but I still do a double take when I see pics of you on facebook looking nothing how I imagine Grin

5'7 is a perfect sort of height

shabbapinkfrog · 24/01/2012 11:12

LOL Dizzy blonde probably?? Would love to be a red head!

bubby64 · 24/01/2012 11:35

Trouble is, I'm already shrinking, was 5' 7.5"!
I had my hair cut and coloured on Saturday, now "golden blonde" instead of blond with loads of grey. When i got home, Mike shouted "what HAVE you done to your hair, mum! Its the same colour as Tuppy!" (he's our cat!). Trouble is, he put the cat on my head, and he was right!Blush

Hopstheduck · 24/01/2012 13:46

Grin @ bubby.

shabs I have no idea why!

Once, when I was a single parent I decided to dye my hair blonde. It came out the EXACT colour of one of those fecking easter chicks that you put on cakes etc. Margold! I had to phone my dad and ask him to run me over some hair dye cos I had no hat and I couldn't leave the house!

trips - look at these!

Conversation with Lew this dinnertime (lunch time for non Northerners)

Me: You had a lovely morning at Nursery Lew? Was everybody good for teacher?

Lew: Yes Andma it was great but Oliver has blood coming out of his willy!!

Me: Shock Oh my word has he fallen and banged himself?

Lew: Nope!!

Me: Have you been painting and maybe he had red paint on his hands? (Searching for a reason for the blood)

Lew: Nope!! Stop worrying Andma his Mummy will take him to the Doctors.

I thought that I would tell Em when she came to pick him up then she could let Nursery know. When I started to tell her she almost wet herself laughing. 'No Shaz, Oliver is our best friends cat and he does have a bit of a problem with his 'plumbing.'

Blush thank God I didn't make a phone call to nursery!!!

TeaSleepFood · 25/01/2012 19:27

Hello you lovely people, long time no see!

Glad to see nothing has changed and Shabs is going round thinking that cats are people and Trips is having 'fro issues. I might just stay a while...
