hi i normally receive my payments every monday for one child (4yo) i’ve received no letters or anything and had payment as normal last week. Although my payments are on mondays, i receive them saturday due to my bank, but this week it hasn’t come through and it’s not my bank as carers has come through like every other week as normal. No change of address etc and her dad wouldn’t of put a claim in and don’t think i can contact them till monday so stressed at what’s going on

Hello everyone

We've had a number of reports from people concerned about this thread so, as we usually do in these circs, we're putting our heads round the door with some important reminders.

The truth is that, sadly, we at MNHQ can't know with 100% certainty that any poster is genuine, no matter who they are or how long they have been here. As frustrating as it is, we're not able to vouch for anyone here.

So we always ask users to remember that not everyone on the internet is who they say they are – and remind folk not to give more to another poster, either financially (in cash or gifts) or emotionally (in time or care and support) than they'd be prepared to lose if things went wrong. We strongly advise against parting with any cash or giving away your personal details, and if you receive a PM which makes you uneasy - report it to us and we’ll take a look.

That's a shame. I don't mind losing £200-300 if it helps a mother with kids in genuine distress because she has not received the CB money. If she is cheating me, only thing she needs to remember is "God is watching. If he knows how to give to someone in distress, he also know how to take it back from someone who tried to make money by cheating others" God Bless.

So, what's the latest update? Has everyone received the CB money now? Or some still pending?

From the BBC :

About half a million people have been left without their Child Benefit payment, after a technical issue at HMRC.

The tax authority said a batch processing issue meant around 30% of Monday’s scheduled payments did not go through and would not be made until Wednesday.

Many parents took to social media to complain about the missing money with some saying they had been left unable to buy food or pay for their child’s bus fare.

I can’t believe that they are making people wait until Wednesday now, absolute disgrace. Don’t know what I’m going to do tomorrow managed to scrap together what I could for dinner tonight out the freezer. Only got two nappies left, can’t believe they have put people in this position, maybe next time when people are phoning and saying I think there’s an issue instead of palming us off and Sayimg it’s your bank actually look into to it. It’s just a joke and they chose to give us an update after they close pretty convenient that is

Food banks have baby supplies lie nappies, formula etc if you can get a referral to your local one. I agree it’s disgusting. I have a disabled son with a ED who will only eat certain foods and I was counting on the money today as I need to stock up as we are running out of his safe foods.

Jess2731 · 03/06/2024 18:19

My closest one is 30min drive,
I don’t drive and don’t have any money to get the bus. So yeah it’s an absolute disgrace and they literally don’t give a sh*t if families are going to suffer or not with not having this payment

I hope you manage to sort something out.

How do we get a referral to a Food Bank (if it becomes necessary)? I'm in Reading.

"Batch processing issue" = someone forgot to action the BAC payments end of last week to appear in people's accounts today. The fact that payment is now Wednesday suggests they frantically pressed 'send' this morning and now it's taking the standard BAC clearance time.

Yup, that sounds about right . It's awful that they've known about this issue for days but have done nothing about it

Council, health visitor, school, community midwife, nursery and citizens advice all can give you a referral

It’s disgusting that they are still sending it via BACS when they easily could send it instantly to everyone

I bloody hate BACS payments for that reason. I don't know why it's an acceptable form of payment in this day and age. May as well send a cheque in the post.

Desperatemum3 · 03/06/2024 13:14

Nothing here either. I literally have nothing to feed my kids with when they come home from school. I can't even get to the foodbank as I do not have the bus fare. It's an absolute disgrace and their update is even worse. People really do live week to week so to not have this is really difficult especially when you have no family or friends to help. I am one of those ppl I am terrified.

I too have no family or friends close by so I completely understand.
I'm still waiting for my payment. I hope yours comes in soon.

Pwv76 · 03/06/2024 19:17

Just had update from hmrc it says Wednesday for payments but gives a address for any charges or penalty’s received to be claimed back from them ideal take photos of anything and everything that’s been a problem caused by there late payment but rember they were not committed to have you payment in until today Monday if it goes in before that it’s just your luck with whoever you bank with

JingleJangleBell · 03/06/2024 19:52

If your in Scotland you can apply for a crisis grant from the local authority.

You don't have to pay them back and they are for exactly this kind of situation.

Not sure if England/wales/Ireland have similar schemes

Could they though? Faster payments is instant but I don't know if it can be done in large batches like BACS.

They probably don't have the people to sit and key in hundreds of thousands/millions of individual payments and check that they're all correct and no-one's taking the opportunity to send a few extra quid to their mates.

Hi, how do you check these updates? My government gateway disappeared when i transferred to uc.

Pwv76 · 03/06/2024 20:22

We only get child benefit but we got info from x formerly twitter and our on line account shows paid 3rd June maybe different if you get other benefits but we only get the £102.40 every four weeks so sorry can’t advise on that

Jess2731 · 03/06/2024 20:51

So if they saying it will go in Wednesday and it be paid by bacs like normal does that mean it will show up as pending tomorrow or not? Surely people banks that allow to see incoming payments it should be showing later today or tomorrow at some point surely
