If you're in your 30s, how big is your mortgage?

With interest rates rising, house prices rising etc I'd be curious to know how large your mortgage is given these factors. Would also be good to know if I'm pretty average while i look at my big minus figure on my Natwest app.

My mortgage is currently £152k with 25y 8m left. I'm North West. We took it out over 30 years at the time to make it cheaper month by month...

5 year fix ends at the end of the year and definitely won't be getting a rate of 1.9% again...

turnthebiglightoff · 31/03/2023 13:22

£310k, 30 years 🤷🏻‍♀️

IamCuriousGeorge · 31/03/2023 13:22

We went from £95k and 30 years left.. to £145K and 30 years left because we sold, moved and brought a bigger house with a decent deposit 😂 we’re on 5 year fixed and only been here 6 months so not too bad

Lcb123 · 31/03/2023 13:24

We’re about to take out a £356k mortgage - I’m 32, DH36. Getting 33 year term. Couldn’t really see another option in our location (SE market town).

BridieConvert · 31/03/2023 13:27

£152k and 28 years left. I'm 31 and in scotland

Cotswoldmama · 31/03/2023 13:27

£124,127 25y11m but we are over paying each month so hopefully closer to 20 years left

stackhead · 31/03/2023 13:27

167k 31 or 32 years left.

We took a 95% mortgage 4 years ago and just took the longest term available. Our interest rate actually went down when we re-mortgaged last year as we went from a 95% LTV to 60-something LTV thanks to price increases.

bondsy · 31/03/2023 13:28

235k over 32 years.

MirrorMirror1247 · 31/03/2023 13:28

Just over 34k with 18 years left. Renegotiated a few months ago, fixed for 5 years at 5.39%, before that it had been about 1.6%.

Overthebow · 31/03/2023 13:28

around £270k and 32 years left. We will pay it off in around 8 years from now though as are overpaying each month and savings by for a lump sum at the end of our next fix.

HowcanIhelp123 · 31/03/2023 13:30

£175K, 23 years left. Coming to the end of a 1.5% fix, looking like new rate will be 4.5% 😱😭

Sounds awful going from £750 to £1000 a month, but houses on the street are renting at over £1500 a month so still significantly cheaper than renting.

pbdr · 31/03/2023 13:31

£304k left with 23 years to go

instantpotnoodle · 31/03/2023 13:33

Up until we sold to relocate over £500k mortgage with 28 years. Now in rented looking at £400k over 28 years.

SH23B · 31/03/2023 13:34

97k with 17.5 years left to go. Fixed at under 1% for the next 3.5 years and then hoping to move elsewhere. Hoping things have settled or we are earning more when the fix ends.

Christmascracker0 · 31/03/2023 13:37

Age 30, just me, £167,464 on mortgage with 29 years and 3 months left to go.

I fixed at 1.97% for 5 years in June 2022.

I HATE having such a huge mortgage over my head but I didn’t have much choice.

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 31/03/2023 13:39

We took £246k over 25 years a couple of years ago when we moved. Wish we'd taken a 10yr fix though instead of 5yrs 😄.

We can't afford to overpay as we had an unplanned second child last year and the nursery fees for 2 are ridiculous.

My previous mortgage was almost paid off and interest was less than 1% so this new mortgage feels like a lead weight.

addictedtotheflats · 31/03/2023 13:39

£79K with 21 years left. I started with 31years in 2015 but been over paying.

Dolares · 31/03/2023 13:40

71k with 28 years left. We secured a new 5 year fix at 3.61% back in November.

Frances24 · 31/03/2023 13:42

£132K 15 years 4 months. I’m 33, DH is 36

DanceMonster · 31/03/2023 13:42

£223k, 25 years. Fixed for the next 4 years at 1.4%. We’ll be moving and increasing it soon though.

HAF1119 · 31/03/2023 13:43

141k fixed at 5.48% for the next 4 years 10 months...
wish I'd held off fixing but they kept going up and was worried it would go even higher

MissHavishamsMouldyOldCake · 31/03/2023 13:43

these threads are usually 'we're both 32 and have just paid off our mortgage'.

needcheese · 31/03/2023 13:46

Very late 30’s, £450k mortgage, 27 years left

TedMullins · 31/03/2023 13:47

Sole owner, 33, 180k with 28 years left.

OneRingToRuleThemAll · 31/03/2023 13:49

Age 35. Bought flat at age 21 in 2008 for £100k, current value is £180k.

Mortgage is split into 2 parts - the main part has £40k and 5 years left.

A sub account has 30k and that has 25 years left.

At current rates our mortgage will reduce from £800pm to £200pm for the remaining term.
