PIP

Hi. New to the forum and PIP and am hoping some of the forum members can help me understand the claim process a little better, I applied for PIP in early December 2022. DWP told me that Capita had received my forms on December 9th. But i have not had a phone assessment scheduled yet. So i called Capita just to make sure everything was fine with my claim. They told me this morning that my claim "is in initial review" and that they "are requesting info from my medical contacts so they can do a Paper assessment". Is this a good/bad sign that my claim will be successful?

Mine is review assessment.

Had telephone review call on Tuesday 21st February.

Received a text from DWP on Wednesday 22nd Februrary saying they had received the report from the health professional but it may take up to 6 weeks for them to make a decision.

Called them on Tuesday 28th February to tell them I had changed address and requested they send me the report.

Called them on Thursday 16th March to let them know I had not received the report and requested they send it again.

The report arrived today (Monday 20th March). The cover letter that accompanied the report is dated 16th March. I do not think they sent out the report the first time. The report is true to what was said in the assessment, and the nurse has understood my needs well. I agree with the points they have suggested to allocate.

It has now been 3 weeks and 5 days since I received the text message saying they received the report from the health professional. I hope they make a decision soon!

Same as me I have a good report but they want more info from my nurse … so I’m waiting for that now.. alternatively I can send them a statement my self from the nurse.. if I don’t hear by the end of this week I think that’s what I will do.. @readingisgreat did u add up ur points ?

I looked at the CAB table of activities, descriptors and points pdf. I was able to work out from that how many points I'll receive if the decision maker agrees with the assessor.

eatdrinkandbemerry · 20/03/2023 18:32

If they receive sufficient evidence from your form and medical reports then they don't need to give you an assessment.
It's usually a good sign.

Sara0 · 20/03/2023 18:43

@eatdrinkandbemerry I got a good report but they want further evidence from the nurse .. ☹️

I really hope that the decision maker does agree with the assessor.
They frequently don't. Mine didn't. That's why I ended up with a tribunal.
But I truly hope it works out for you.

TheShellBeach · 20/03/2023 21:59

I worked out my points too, but was awarded none at all.

Sara0 · 20/03/2023 22:18

@TheShellBeach really! I’m shocked … how many points did you get in ur report ? And have u had ur tribunal?

I was never sent my report but I got zero points. I'd worked out what I thought I ought to get, so getting none was awful.
It took eleven months before I had a tribunal.
I was then awarded PIP and got lots of back pay. That was four years ago.

TheShellBeach · 20/03/2023 23:05

Sorry, I wasn't very clear. I worked out what I thought the assessor would give me, based on how my assessment went. I was wrong though. She sounded all friendly but gave me no points.

Sara0 · 20/03/2023 23:14

@TheShellBeach At least you got there in the end … and u fought for what you deserved;’ :)

Yes. The stress was unbearable though
I hate the DWP for making me go through it.

mammaov3 · 23/03/2023 13:08

Any updates?

mammaov3 · 23/03/2023 14:51

I just received a letter say "We now have all the information we need to make a decision if we can award you pip we will write to you when we have made a decision.
has anyone else had this and how long for a decision.
This is a review decision.

T4it · 27/03/2023 12:30

They don't seem to care how anxious claimants get, do they.
Sorry you still haven't had your decision. Mine took months.

mammaov3 · 27/03/2023 17:36

@TheShellBeach No they don't but the women i spoke to was reassuring to me .
was yours a review or new claim ?
