PIP

Hi. New to the forum and PIP and am hoping some of the forum members can help me understand the claim process a little better, I applied for PIP in early December 2022. DWP told me that Capita had received my forms on December 9th. But i have not had a phone assessment scheduled yet. So i called Capita just to make sure everything was fine with my claim. They told me this morning that my claim "is in initial review" and that they "are requesting info from my medical contacts so they can do a Paper assessment". Is this a good/bad sign that my claim will be successful?

is anyone awaiting there decision on a REVIEW assessment?

mrsjackrussell · 16/03/2023 13:33

I haven't read the full thread but I have been waiting over a year for my review because of a huge backlog due to Covid I was told.

My last 2 reviews I had to go to a centre and have a physical assessment. This time it was just done quickly over the phone. I was very surprised TBH.

is anyone awaiting there decision on a REVIEW assessment?

Yes, mine is review assessment.

Had telephone review call on Tuesday 21st February.

Received a text from DWP on Wednesday 22nd Februrary saying they had received the report from the health professional but it may take up to 6 weeks for them to make a decision.

Called them on Tuesday 28th February to tell them I had changed address and requested they send me the report.

Called them today to let them know I had not received the report and requested they send it again. Was told it could take 1-2 months before they decide the outcome.

What does DWP stand for? I assume the D stands for Despicable!

mammaov3 · 16/03/2023 17:23

@mrsjackrussell can i ask when you had your review assessment? my last assessment was in 2018 witch was the switch assessment from dla to pip that was face to face at my home, this time over the phone a week ago i was waiting 17 months for this review due to covid, my phone call lasted a hour and half but i still didn't get to tell them everything i wanted as she just kept saying "we will get to that bit later witch we didn't. I can't get a copy of my report iv been refused it 3 times 😒 since last week saying i have to wait for decision letter , i don't have my hopes up as i didn't have much evidence as im waiting on alot of appointments for different stuff , im currently on standard for care and mobility but been advised i should be on enhanced due to all my new health problems its just a waiting game i guess.

mammaov3 · 16/03/2023 18:29

@readingisgreat Thank you for your reply i do hope you get your report as they keep refusing me mine unsure why , it is ridiculous that they tell everyone different things like why say you will hear in the next 6 weeks on a txt then when you ring them they say up to 8 weeks or more 😒 please keep me updated on any news as your a week ahead of me and good luck .

Yes I only got standard care no motability

Have you done a MR already? Some decisions are changed at that stage but you have to put a string case to them.

Donnagl · 17/03/2023 12:12

No I only just got award a few days ago

That's good. Go through ever descriptor you think has not been awarded accurately and point them to the evidence they have which shows why you should have scored more. Sometimes they say because you can do X you can do Y so if there is any of that make sure to tell them why doing one thing does not make you capable of another, as they are different activities. Make sure you put it in writing and keep a copy

Hi there I had my pip assessment on the 22nd February. A week later I received a text saying they have my report and o requested my report aswell. I got my report in the post and it says I scored 12 points for living and 10 for mobility … but today I rang up DWP and they said they want further evidence from my specialist nurse so I given her number .. has this happen to anyone ? My anxiety is hitting the roof… I have got the points on the report so why would they want more evidence they also spoke to these people back in jan.. so why again….???????? Can anyone please give some advice … it’s making me feel ill thinking all the things what it could possibly be…. Xx

Donnagl · 17/03/2023 14:14

I did answer this previously for you. Nobody knows. It is just a sign the decision maker isn't sure about something and wants to check.

Donnagl · 17/03/2023 14:39

Thank you I only scored 10 points for care and 2 motability but they didint take a lot I said into consideration I have high functioning PTSD high trauma depression and very high anxiety all confirmed by doctor

mrsjackrussell · 17/03/2023 15:18

@mammaov3 I had a phone call 2 days ago. It lasted around 20 minutes. They have had my review form for around 18 months. I wasn't expecting the call as I would have been better prepared. It was all very quick.

Shebaduke · 17/03/2023 16:01

To sarao have you recieved anything since decision ect

Shebaduke · 17/03/2023 16:05

Im still waiting for decision after review it seems if your going to get it a txt comes pretty quickly after dwp receive report from assesor to say whether your succesful or not so im not holding my breath

mammaov3 · 17/03/2023 16:48

@mrsjackrussell did you not get the appointment txt or letter to say when your assessment will be taking place? seems abit strange to ring you out the blue , my assessment call was way over a hour don't know if thats a good or bad thing.

mrsjackrussell · 17/03/2023 18:02

@mmammaov3 no text or anything. I thought it was quite strange too. Mine is pretty straightforward though as my condition can't get better only worse.

Sara0 · 17/03/2023 18:03

@Shebaduke no I haven’t .. I got my report and on there it says how many points I got etc… so when I called them up they said they want further evidence off the nurse .. I eventually spoke to the case manager and she said we want to ‘cover all angles’. Don’t know what she meant by that.. it’s just a waiting game now and it’s very stressful.. my nurse is aware of them calling her or writing to her it’s jus waiting on DWP to call now…. The case manager said she will pass this on to the assessment people and she can’t say how long a decision will be.. :( (DWP beat around the bush to much and don’t be straight forward)

mammaov3 · 17/03/2023 18:35

@mrsjackrussell oh wow sounds promising then

I did a MR and was awarded as a result. I think it's worth doing.
