PIP

Hi. New to the forum and PIP and am hoping some of the forum members can help me understand the claim process a little better, I applied for PIP in early December 2022. DWP told me that Capita had received my forms on December 9th. But i have not had a phone assessment scheduled yet. So i called Capita just to make sure everything was fine with my claim. They told me this morning that my claim "is in initial review" and that they "are requesting info from my medical contacts so they can do a Paper assessment". Is this a good/bad sign that my claim will be successful?

@TheShellBeach No they don't but the women i spoke to was reassuring to me .
was yours a review or new claim ?

Well, the most recent was a review. They decided that I didn't deserve to get PIP any more, so I had the MR and pointed out that nothing had changed, so why were they stopping my money?
They agreed with me eventually, and awarded me PIP again.
Oh it's so stressful.

mammaov3 · 27/03/2023 18:02

Thats what im dreading the news that they have discontinued it all together when i have only gotton worse with more health problems than before.
sorry to hear they messed you around its terrible.

Finding out that they were stopping my money nearly broke me, I won't lie.
After all I went through with the tribunal, the first time I claimed, I couldn't believe they were giving me nothing.
It was sorted out with the MR but my God it was a terrible time.

mammaov3 · 27/03/2023 20:11

@TheShellBeach im raily sorry you had to fight not once but twice to get what you deserve, i can't imagine having to do either MR or tribunal but if it comes two it i will have to .

Sara0 · 28/03/2023 18:40

Any updates anyone I got a letter today saying they have got all the info to make a decision but then when I rang up they still haven’t received my nurses form that they sent out for more evidence

mammaov3 · 28/03/2023 20:17

@Sara0 i had that letter a week ago , i rang them yesterday and seid its been looked at by decision maker.
The letter they send is just a automatic letter sent to everyone i think to stop people ringing them up , i would ring again tomorrow and ask why they sent the letter if they don't have all the info they need.

Sara0 · 28/03/2023 21:17

Il definitely do that… it’s silly coz u start thinking u will get a decision any day and it makes me very anxious

mammaov3 · 29/03/2023 09:56

@Sara0 it raily is some people like letters of update like that so they know they are not forgotten about but for me it made me think i would get a decision anyday now and when i rang them this monday and seid its with the decision maker now it made me even more anxious thinking i would find like anytime now but still nothing lol oh jeez the anticipation is killing me.
I am mentally preparing for a MR because i don't think my assessment went well and due to lack of evidence as im waiting on several referrals for different things what i haven't received a appointment for yet therefore no evidence yet apart from my original illnesses from years ago.

Sara0 · 29/03/2023 10:21

@mammaov3 did u get ur report and count the points up urself?

mammaov3 · 29/03/2023 10:28

@Sara0 mine is a review and after tge assessment on 7th march i got a txt 3 hours later saying they have my report, i have requested it 3 times and all i get is i can't have my report until a decision is made 🙄 now i have stopped asking for it.

mammaov3 · 29/03/2023 11:04

Does anyone know how long it takes to get a decision once its with a DM ?

TheShellBeach · 29/03/2023 11:14

Even if the assessor gives you points, the decision maker can remove them. They often give the assessor the forms back and tell them to rewrite what they put down originally.
I'm not trying to worry you but the DWP have form for doing this.
I really hope you get your decision soon and that it's positive. X

iamenougheveryday · 29/03/2023 12:37

I am readingisgreat. I forgot my email address and had to make a new account. Oh well.

5 weeks since DWP received my report and I have heard nothing :(

I think it says up to six weeks but they took twelve weeks with my first attempt to get PIP (and then they gave me nothing).
So I had a MR which also gave me nothing (they generally do give you nothing at the MR if it's your first one - it's just another tick-box exercise for the DWP to use to discourage people).

So my welfare rights lady, who had helped me fill in the forms in the first place, told me to go for the Tribunal. I nearly didn't, but she persuaded me. She said I had nothing to lose........
Well, eleven months later I won the Tribunal! And then DH got Carer's Allowance for me...............and four years later, I had a review.............

..............................and they rook it all away!

So I did another MR and pointed out that nothing had changed, in fact things had got worse, and that I would go to another Tribunal, and my mental health could not cope....................and they agreed (thank goodness) and reinstated my PIP.

But I hate the way they treated me. I hate the way the treat all claimants. There's good advice here:

^^ took it all away*

mammaov3 · 29/03/2023 14:27

@TheShellBeach it is absolutely shocking what they put claimant's through, when i rang this monday she seid its not in a queue and that its with the decision maker and if i don't hear this week to ring back next week but its already stressing me out i think i will ring again tomorrow if i Don't hear anything today 😔

I'm sorry, Mamma.
I know what you're going through.

mammaov3 · 29/03/2023 17:06

@TheShellBeach can i ask how long it took to get your rejection decision from your assessment to the decision?

Shebaduke · 29/03/2023 17:18

I had a letter saying it is with the decision maker today but im not holding my breath either

mammaov3 · 29/03/2023 17:31

you would think nerves would calm down abit knowing its with DM now but for me anyway im more anxious and inpatient then ever 😅

Shebaduke · 29/03/2023 17:40

Its terrible being put through it but i know its goibg to be a rejection as the assesor scored me 0 on everything in the report

Most of the clients I help do seem to get it awarded again after review, although at the moment the reviews are taking absolutely months as they are overwhelmed and prioritizing new claimants.

About a month. It was torture, and when I got the negative decision I fell to pieces (not surprisingly).

But the welfare rights lady helped me with the MR and the DWP reinstated it all. Not before they'd stopped it all, stopped the Carer's Allowance, stopped the premiums on our ESA and so on and so on.

It was a nightmare.

Oh Lord. Have you got yourself mentally prepared for the MR?

Shebaduke · 29/03/2023 19:08

Yes i have as some of the things she said were ludicrous ( touched my hair with my left hand touched my nose with my right whats that got to do with anything and the list goes on
