PIP

Hi. New to the forum and PIP and am hoping some of the forum members can help me understand the claim process a little better, I applied for PIP in early December 2022. DWP told me that Capita had received my forms on December 9th. But i have not had a phone assessment scheduled yet. So i called Capita just to make sure everything was fine with my claim. They told me this morning that my claim "is in initial review" and that they "are requesting info from my medical contacts so they can do a Paper assessment". Is this a good/bad sign that my claim will be successful?

Hi does anyone have advice please, i had my review assessment a week ago and today iv been diagnosed with non alcoholic liver desease witch was a big shock i didn't have a clue i have , would it be two late to add that now as my report has already been sent to dwp?

If the liver disease is causing a difference to the answers you already gave to the descriptors, yes.
If it's just a diagnosis, in and of itself, there's no need to tell them.
PIP is not awarded for particular illnesses.

Day 14 after assesment 28th new claim still no txt to say they got report bla bla

mammaov3 · 14/03/2023 18:05

From what iv seen on here and other threads it looks like NEW CLAIM reports are getting sent back to DWP alot later than Review reports

Donnagl · 14/03/2023 18:19

Thanx for reply that makes me feel a bit more hopefull 🙂

Sara0 · 14/03/2023 18:39

Does anyone know what’s a case manager and what’s the difference in a case manager and a decision maker?? Does the case manager make the decision ???

That's great!
They never sent me any texts. I just got letters. Eventually lol. They take they time, eh?
So you actually don't know what levels of PIP you've been awarded.

oh right i do get alot of pain due to gallstones witch i thought all pain was coming from but had a ultrasound and they have now found liver desease also.

Does the diagnosis change your ability to carry out the PIP descriptors?

Well, once I got a refusal letter.
And then I did the mandatory reconsideration and they changed it to an award letter. But never have they texted me.

Sara0 · 15/03/2023 11:46

@xxAmy hi hun.. did u add up ur points yourself from ur report?

xxAmy · 15/03/2023 12:06

@Sara0 sorry just seen your message about case manger, I think it’s the same thing the case manager makes the decision so is the decision maker. As I was confused about that and was told basically they’re the same.
I got my report and added the points up myself and they’re the points I was awarded, I added them up from an online pip calculator and I’m sure I got 13 and 10, high care and low mobility

Sara0 · 15/03/2023 12:27

I private messaged you hun .. x

mrsfeatherbottom · 15/03/2023 15:40

So, I had a follow up call from Capita today. The same assessor as in Feb wanting to clarify some points. Threw me a bit as I didn't have my notes in front of me, wasn't recording etc.

Good thing she did call though as she mentioned a couple of things that were wrong so I was able to correct her.

Hopefully now, the report will be submitted soon

Donnagl · 15/03/2023 16:50

I don't know just waiting for my award letter x

readingisgreat · 16/03/2023 11:26

3 weeks and 1 day since receiving the text, and I have heard nothing :( I hate the waiting!

mammaov3 · 16/03/2023 11:56

i just rang for the 3rd time for my assessment report with the dwp received the day of my assessment last week they are still saying same thing im not allowed my report sent out until i have a decision 😐 i told her about everyone else getting theres sent out way before a decision and that my anxiety is through the roof not knowing if its a good or bad report but she didn't care and seid im not allowed it , i won't be ringing again for it because ringing them alone causes me stress.

I'm sorry about that.
I've never understood why they have to be so horrible to claimants. You'd think they had to give you their own money, the way they carry on.

So my update is I have my report but they want further evidence from my nurse which they apparently sent out on the 10th.. I have spoke to the nurse and said she has received nothing ! I’m in tears coz I’m having to call back now nd it’s like an hour wait… on my report I scored 12 points for living and 10 for mobility. I don’t understand this.. they have l ready spoken to these people at the start of feb! It’s my third time ringing today I’m back and fourth

I wish they'd treat people kindly. I do not know if they realise how distressed we get over this.

If you got those points, maybe the decision maker will make you an award. It sounds hopeful.

Sara0 · 16/03/2023 13:10

@readingisgreat its my third time this morning and Iv been on hold for 40 minutes .. I want to tell them that these people have received nothing from them… my psychologist even said they spoken to him in feb.. and now they want more evidence .. it’s the case manager who wants all this apparently….

readingisgreat · 16/03/2023 13:13

After 45 mins they answered the phone.

Turns out I last called them on 28th February (2 weeks and 2 days ago), and she said she would send out my report again. I asked her if she could read the report, and she said she could. She said they had ticked boxes but had not put down the points so couldn't tell me how many points I would get. Grr. She said it could take another 1-2 months before they make a decision 😡

Sara0 · 16/03/2023 13:18

Let’s hope … I Have had enough of this .. I’m on the phone to them now and literally telling then I have got enough points on my report so why this. I made my claim on the 14th December it’s been 12 weeks and I’m still waiting … really had enough now :(
