PIP

Hi. New to the forum and PIP and am hoping some of the forum members can help me understand the claim process a little better, I applied for PIP in early December 2022. DWP told me that Capita had received my forms on December 9th. But i have not had a phone assessment scheduled yet. So i called Capita just to make sure everything was fine with my claim. They told me this morning that my claim "is in initial review" and that they "are requesting info from my medical contacts so they can do a Paper assessment". Is this a good/bad sign that my claim will be successful?

@mammamammaov3 my backdate is pending in my bank 😁

Hi all.

I applied late Feb on behalf of DH, who suffered a severe stroke a year ago. He's only just out of hospital.

Had a phone call today from a lovely lady who only asked a couple of supplementary questions in addition to the medical evidence provided, re mobility and mental health and said he'd qualify for the higher level in both areas and the DWP will be in touch, payments backed etc.

Fingers crossed!

No they only gave me standard care and I did a mandatory reconsideration so I’m taking it to tribunal

Donnagl · 09/05/2023 20:42

Did anyone help you with the original application?

Hi does anyone know anyone apart from citizens advice who can help with a pip tribunal thank you

You could put your local council's name into a search engine plus "help with PIP appeals" and see what comes up.
And go to www.benefitsandwork.org.uk

needastrongoneagain · 10/05/2023 08:19

Thank you @TheShellBeach, that's really kind. Fingers crossed. I was anticipating a visit or meeting etc at the least.

Good luck everyone, this is new territory for me, as I'm sure is the case for most of us.

Donnagl · 10/05/2023 09:17

No I did it myself but had letters from councillor

Donnagl · 10/05/2023 09:18

Hi @mammaov3 And everyone else well i think i said about the lady who phoned from capita and asked me 2 more questions relating to my mobility and 💩 problems and then i had a txt again from DWP saying it would be 6 weeks Then the next day i had another txt saying because id asked for my claim to be looked at again it would be another 8 weeks which i didnt think made sense but who knows

mammaov3 · 14/05/2023 16:23

I'm gobsmacked by how much the waiting times for decisions vary.

I found out yesterday that a client I did an application for in early Feb had their assessment last month and their decision last week, barely 3 months. Yet some are waiting longer than that for an assessment, let alone a decision.

The uncertainty for people is so stressful.

needastrongoneagain · 23/05/2023 16:25

DH's back payment went into the account today. Haven't received the letter yet but looks like higher award for both. Phew!

LakieLady · 24/05/2023 18:22

That's a great result, @needastrongoneagain !

You must be delighted.
