PIP

Hi. New to the forum and PIP and am hoping some of the forum members can help me understand the claim process a little better, I applied for PIP in early December 2022. DWP told me that Capita had received my forms on December 9th. But i have not had a phone assessment scheduled yet. So i called Capita just to make sure everything was fine with my claim. They told me this morning that my claim "is in initial review" and that they "are requesting info from my medical contacts so they can do a Paper assessment". Is this a good/bad sign that my claim will be successful?

LOLOLOLOL

needastrongoneagain · 24/05/2023 20:14

Brilliant stuff @Shebaduke!

Thanks all, appreciate it. The letter refers to PIP at the old rate, which I can understand for the pre April aspect of the back payment. I think I'll see what goes into the bank in the first 'normal' payment before phoning, thoughts?

No review until 2027, again is that normal too?

Sorry - new to this!

You'll get the new rate automatically.
A review in four years is fairly standard.
I bet you're relieved.

Oh boy! The gravy train never ends with you!

That's very kind of them, considering how much anguish they caused. (sarcastic)

Tiredmum1223 · 31/05/2023 09:07

How long is it roughly taking everyone from having their assessment to getting the decision?

Tiredmum1223 · 31/05/2023 09:18

Sorry, me again! 🤦‍♀️
I just called up to find out how long it'll be til I get a decision and to get a copy of the report as I requested it 4 weeks ago and still not had it. When I ask for a copy the man said to me twice 'if there is stuff in the report you don't agree with then you have to wait to get the decision before you can ring up and dispute it' should I take thst as its looking like I might not get awarded pip and I'll have to take it to MR? It's so stressful waiting for this!!

Assessment was 23/2/23
First payment 3/4/23
So, less than 6 weeks.

It could mean that, or it might just mean they're going to give you a lower award than you thought you deserved.
I know it's horrible, waiting.

The man who took your calll is unlikely to have sat and read your report while he was on the call. I think it's standard to let people know they can't challenge until the award notice is sent

I wouldn't necessarily assume that he knows that - they are probably just told to manage expectations and remind applicants of the procedure.
