PIP

Hi. New to the forum and PIP and am hoping some of the forum members can help me understand the claim process a little better, I applied for PIP in early December 2022. DWP told me that Capita had received my forms on December 9th. But i have not had a phone assessment scheduled yet. So i called Capita just to make sure everything was fine with my claim. They told me this morning that my claim "is in initial review" and that they "are requesting info from my medical contacts so they can do a Paper assessment". Is this a good/bad sign that my claim will be successful?

Brilliant!
Now someone can possibly claim Carer's Allowance for you.

My partner already gets it for his eldest son. And I get it for our 5 year old. And I found out today that I won't lose my carers allowance!!

You won't lose it, quite right.

DH and I both get PIP and we both used to get Carer's Allowance for one another.

Now we're old (lol) we get our State Pensions we get Pension Credit, and get a Carer's Premium within the Pension Credit.

Life is good apart from the ageing, such as arthritis, insomnia and not being able to read anything without a magnifying glass any more.

Hi i was on standard for both and sent my review forms back September 2021 so the difference would be around £77 a week from then so im guessing around 5-6 grand i forgot to say they seid my back pay has been sent to debt management becouse of a small loan i still owe to them what i have been paying back every month but debt management will take it all off my back pay 😅 so now i have to wait until they sort all that out untill i get anything but no one can tell me how much yet .
@Shebaduke yes if you get turned down ask for Mandatory forms asap .

Have you had your back pay yet? Mine is also going to debt management so was wondering how long that will take until I get my back pay (if there's any left) lol x

@Oilytoe90 Mine was sent to debt management on 26th April and they are currently working on the 24th april , but i also found out that they can not take my budgeting advance loan off it as iv been paying that back monthly out of my UC and they are only allowed to take over payments out of it so now i have to wait for them to get to 26th payments and once its on there system they will send it all back to pip to send to me 🙈 so might not get it for another couple of weeks yet lol.

I'm so sorry that this happened to you, its awful that someone could write complete inaccuracies when going through this is tough enough! This is my worry thst I'll get the report and it is nothing like what I said on the phone. I hope you get an answer soon, I have everything crossed for you 🤞.

I'm convinced those reports are mostly standard paragraphs copied and pasted.

When you see a lot of them (which I do in my job), you see the same things in them over and over again. I've seen them say that they "observed" thingsor noted things about the applicant's appearance when the assessment was done over the phone and they didn't see them at all, and applicants switching from male to female and back again several times during a 45 minute assessment.

A lot of them really are utter bollocks.

@ mammaov3 tiredmum1223 and everyome else ive missed out just a little update
Just had a phone call from Capita assesement from a lovely lady who said " we have requested your assesement back from DWP as we need to amend it as its Not Fit For Purpose "
So even though im still not holding my breath i am a little bit more optimistic

Wow, I've never heard of that happening!

I'd say it's a good sign and that there's at least a chance of it being fairly accurate.

Omg!! Decision maker just rang me. I've been awarded enhanced daily living and basic mobility!! I'm so happy. Only took 8 weeks start to finish. I scored 13 on daily and 10 on mobility 😁😁. So happy I could cry x

That's a great result, and so quick, too! I have clients whose applications went in 4 months ago and haven't even got an assessment appointment yet.

I wonder if wait times are longer in the SE or something?

OMG!! that's actually shocking 🙄. There was me thinking it would only take a few days 😭

mammaov3 · 04/05/2023 22:54

@Oilytoe90 yes unfortunately another waiting game but thats system for you lol maybe yours won't take as long if they don't have to send yours back to PIP 🤔

I just called pip to ask about how long it takes for debt management to do their deductions. She said that they send it to them and then have to wait up to 9 days for them to reply or they send a letter telling you they've took it all x

mammaov3 · 05/05/2023 09:42

@Oilytoe90 I think they all say different things like when i first rang debt management they told me they will be taking all my budgeting advance off it then they will send me the rest and seid my back payment isn't showing on there system yet.
Then i rang pip about 3 days later who then told me debt management are not allowed to take loans of it , i then rang debt management again and another person answered and told me i was previously given the wrong imflamtion and that its right what pip seid they are not allowed to take a loan of me and still told me its not on there system yet and could take over a week to reach there system to sort it out and send back to pip to send to me 😬🫣 but did state they are currently working on the 24th april back payments. I guessed knowing we are actually getting something is good enough when we get it doesn't raily matter just try putting it to the back of your mind and enjoy the bank holiday maybe ring them next friday if you haven't hered anything.

mammaov3 · 05/05/2023 09:43
