PIP

Hi. New to the forum and PIP and am hoping some of the forum members can help me understand the claim process a little better, I applied for PIP in early December 2022. DWP told me that Capita had received my forms on December 9th. But i have not had a phone assessment scheduled yet. So i called Capita just to make sure everything was fine with my claim. They told me this morning that my claim "is in initial review" and that they "are requesting info from my medical contacts so they can do a Paper assessment". Is this a good/bad sign that my claim will be successful?

I work in welfare rights and my clients all have MH conditions. I think it's harder to get for MH problems alone, as there isn't the same sort of compelling evidence (eg blood tests, scans, x-rays). Supporting evidence from your MH team is really important, and if there's evidence of admission to hospital, that really helps.

Ime, it's easier with more severe conditions, eg schizophrenia, bi-polar, than for things like depression or personality disorders. Approx half of my applications have to go to appeal, and so far every appeal has been successful.

Fingers crossed you'll get it, and definitely appeal if you don't!

Thanks so much. I guess it's just a waiting game now 🙄

Hello, I hope you don't mind me joining. I had my telephone assessment today, im not sure how it went as the assessor was quite straight to the point but I've already had a text through to say they've received my assessment report. When can I call to ask for a copy of the report?

I think you can call straight away although they told me it would take 10-14 days

Thank you, I've called and requested a copy but I was told it could take up to 3 weeks for me to receive it.

Hi there. Welcome to the waiting game department.
Can I suggest that you ring them in a week to remind them to do it?
Lots of people on this thread find that the DWP mysteriously forgets to send out documents, even when they've promised to do so.

Shebaduke · 03/05/2023 17:48

Hi Tiredmum 1223 i asked for my review copy and was lucky it came in 2 days although i wish i hadnt now as report was awful full of total innacuracies and im still waiting though for the decision maker but not holding my breath

mammaov3 · 03/05/2023 18:16

I'm so sorry that this happened to you, its awful that someone could write complete inaccuracies when going through this is tough enough! This is my worry thst I'll get the report and it is nothing like what I said on the phone. I hope you get an answer soon, I have everything crossed for you 🤞.

Thank you, I hope they do send it out like they said but I also worry about what's in it. You just never know, especially with reading a lot of people experiences with the assessor writing complete lies on their reports.

Shebaduke · 04/05/2023 07:32

Morning all another day fingers crossed news for some today 🤞

Shebaduke · 04/05/2023 09:50

@ mammaov3 tiredmum1223 and everyome else ive missed out just a little update
Just had a phone call from Capita assesement from a lovely lady who said " we have requested your assesement back from DWP as we need to amend it as its Not Fit For Purpose "
So even though im still not holding my breath i am a little bit more optimistic

Oilytoe90 · 04/05/2023 10:35

Thankyou!! My backdate has to go to debt management first to pay off any debt and then I get the rest. But I'm over the moon. I was so scared coz I have no physical issues it's all mental health I really didn't expect it. I had my assessment on 25th April so literally 9 days ago!!

Shebaduke · 04/05/2023 11:51

Brilliant!
Now someone can possibly claim Carer's Allowance for you.

TheShellBeach · 04/05/2023 12:11

So at the moment it's just @Shebaduke to go.
Fingers crossed, girl.
