ruralwanderer · 01/07/2022 08:02

I can't believe we're already more than halfway through the year. I hope those of you that are established £10 a Day-ers are still doing well, keeping motivated and chasing the £££s. Welcome to all the newbies - hopefully these threads will help you as much as they've helped me and many others.

For the newbies - I'd recommend grabbing a cup of tea and reading back through the previous threads before you sign up for anything. Most of your questions will have already been answered and you'll hit the ground running if you've already got an idea what this is all about.

Here are the links that are recommended for getting started.

So I thought I would sign up with way with words - failed all three tries of the research quiz with very low percentages even though I am pretty sure I answered them all correctly - on second and third try was double checking all answers. Bit bemused - is it worth messaging them to ask to see which ones I got wrong?

PoseyFlump · 24/07/2022 10:59

@Lockdownlard I doubt they would tell you. I think another poster on here said they recently passed and were instantly put on a waiting list too.

AnotherOne4 · 24/07/2022 11:42

Has anyone tried Testapic? ( I think it is part of Intellizoom)

justalittlebitextra · 24/07/2022 12:05

Ap* is rubbish at the moment. My daily project finished so I've just got the surveys (one of which hasn't worked for a couple of months) and one other project that I've had a grand total of 2 hours work on this month. I'm going to struggle to make enough to payout! What is really annoying is the chat for that project is full of US raters with daily work talking mostly utter shite.

Catclown · 24/07/2022 12:21

I am so going to try this, how much time are people spending doing all of these?

FamilyGredunza · 24/07/2022 12:21

@Mxyzptlk
Yes I saw that email and initially got excited but I won't be doing it either as I don't do the photo ones. Too invasive.

Mxyzptlk · 24/07/2022 19:38

@FamilyGredunza

Selfies, ID, bills - all seems a bit much. I did even wonder if it was a scam.
Giving it a bodyswerve.

ruralwanderer · 25/07/2022 13:41

@Catclown that entirely depends on what you have on and whether you're managing it around another job or if this is your sole income. For me, this is all I do around looking after animals and kids, and I dedicate at least an hour a day to it. When the kids are at school, I'll do up to 5 hours a day depending on what I have on.

I aim to make £10 an hour so if the work isn't there to do it, I'll find something else to fill my time instead (housework, animal work, etc) and come back to it later when it's busier.

I think you can take the test again after 30 days.

I dint think they'll tell you what you got wrong, and each time you take it the questions are different.

I took it a couple of times and didn't pass, despite taking such great care with all my answers.

This is from memory and I can't remember the exact details but after failing, I looked at their Style guide and realised that I should have paid more attention to the rules. I was quite sure that .was where I slipped up.

I haven't got round to taking it again. But will post if I manage to pass.

RiverSkater · 25/07/2022 23:11

Thankful for all you meting this thread and the momentum going!

As anybody managed to pass an Appen exam!? I just spent most of today on one and failed again. It's so demoralising as we could really do with some regular income from an ongoing project.

Surely if you have got a few wrong they shouldn't let you finish the exam.
Also, it says I didn't do it within the time but there wasn't a time set.

Moan over. Hmm

justalittlebitextra · 26/07/2022 12:25

I did an exam for Ap* over the weekend and I have absolutely no idea whether I passed or not or whether it even registered - the link just takes me to the project page now.

It took me a good couple of hours of reviewing the guidelines and sitting the test, so I'm not impressed. I've had this with them before though so not getting too worked up about it. I have no idea whether there was a time limit on it or not - I hope not as I went off and had my lunch halfway through!

Are any of you doing a project with Qualsights??

Yes I am

nellytheelephant1980 · 26/07/2022 21:19

Qmee is literally driving me mad. I spend so much time on the surveys, to get to what feels like nearly the end and then they say 'we've already got enough participants for this survey' or 'sorry, you don't qualify'. Angry

Totally agree with you.
I stopped doing it ages ago as it really is hit and miss whether you get to the end of a survey.

nellytheelephant1980 · 26/07/2022 21:48

It's just not worth the time is it? I literally get near to the end of a survey and then they say no! I think it's a way of getting all the data they want but not paying

Yes, free data. So wrong isn't it.

PoseyFlump · 27/07/2022 06:54

So after a year of waiting I'm finally able to work my first Appen project just as I was about to give up!

Please could someone explain the auto generated invoice system to me?

So an invoice has appeared with let's say 100 tasks completed on it. If I work another 100 today will they be automatically added to the invoice in time for Aug payment or do I have to do something? Tia.

ruralwanderer · 27/07/2022 07:08

@PoseyFlump you don't need to do anything with the auto generated ones, they are added automatically for you. You just need to check that they're correct before you submit (usually by about the 4th of each month).

PoseyFlump · 27/07/2022 07:34

Thanks @ruralwanderer so any further work I do now will be added before the next pay date? Just trying to decide how to spend this weekend 😉

ElephantGrey101 · 27/07/2022 07:54

Hi is this something that you can do on maternity leave? I am looking at ways of bringing in extra money but I don’t think you are allowed to have another job on maternity leave. I think some of the work on here would qualify and some wouldn’t. Sorry for being totally clueless.

Redcrayons · 27/07/2022 08:18

Yes, all July work appears on the July invoice. You can’t submit it before the end of the month though.

@ElephantGrey101 It depends on the terms of your contract and whether you want to risk it. I’m not allowed to have a second job, but I do a few of these things. It’s nothing like my real job, i do it my own time and I don’t tell them.

Same here. I report loads of them, but they don’t do anything about it. Attapoll seems just as bad.

Catatemyhomework · 27/07/2022 09:36

Hello everyone! Haven't posted for a while as not much is changed for me. Amazingly I am still doing Ykn on Appen. No idea how I'm still there but it's a steady earner for me. Still doing maps with LB but don't do as much as I should. This new invoicing and payment system with LB/Telus is confusing me as I don't think I've been paid for May yet and don't understand how it works. I haven't been sent an email yet to set up the new payments system. Does anyone else know what they're doing with this? I really need to try and increase my hours with all the rising bills to pay. Ideally I need to double them somehow, especially with Christmas only being 5 months away. Everything is so much more expensive and feels like working for nothing sometimes. Hope everyone else is getting on well. Smile

PoseyFlump · 27/07/2022 10:07

Great thanks @Redcrayons! Now I've just got to avoid getting thrown off before I really get going. It's transcription and I'm scared about those percentages!
