Hello. New to the thread. I just did the test on crisp and they emailed to say I got 18/20 and that I need 19/20 to be chosen. I’m so annoyed! Spent ages on it tooConfused

rhij86 · 03/03/2022 13:40

@Skint2022 you can repeat the test as many times as you like! The questions don't change either.
The waiting list is long, but still worth doing to get yourself on there!

Skint2022 · 03/03/2022 13:48

@rhij86 oh can you? That’s good to know….now to work out which two I got wrong 😂🙈

Skint2022 · 03/03/2022 13:48

Also, what is Potatoes?

Spirogyra · 03/03/2022 13:50

Thanks for the new thread rhij86, & the mention of the bespoke application being open again, at least they have pinned the slack message this time! I might apply but even if accepted would probably not be quick enough to get any shifts, I imagine lots of people hovering & refreshing the page, & it being like trying to get a supermarket delivery slot in the first lockdown Grin
You have my admiration for setting your alarm & working so early in the mornings. I assume the work on those shifts might be a bit more varied & interesting, when the main queues get busy now it's usually the sporty stuff which I find quite repetitive & boring.

rhij86 · 03/03/2022 14:04

@Skint2022 potatoes is Crisp haha, just a sort of long term joke on this thread

@Spirogyra yes trying to get a lockdown-1 food slot is exactly how I would describe it! If you're happy to go for the least-appealing slots first (i.e. middle of the night, or weekends) then you've got more of a chance. I often find myself clicking madly and hoping for the best though :-

It's definitely more interesting and varied. Obviously can't go in to details because of confidentiality agreements with the clients, but it is different to the main work.
I'm not sure I deserve admiration haha, I'm just super desperate to try and make headway out of debt and towards some sort of financial stability.

@rhij86 ahaha thanks. Here was me thinking that I def had to get on board with Potatoes GrinGrin

peabrainer · 03/03/2022 18:09

@rhij86 is the potato bespoke hourly rate £10 no matter how many spuds are peeled? I usually manage more per hour IF there's lots of content so not sure it's worth me signing up for

rhij86 · 03/03/2022 18:12

@peabrainer yes it is. You can continue to work the normal queues (you just can't do both at the same time)

0htooooodles · 03/03/2022 20:07

@Spirogyra I could go into names 😂 as I no longer have an NDA with them to worry about. I was with them for over 2 years, and left around 6 months ago. It's not all it's cracked up to be! Was great at the start but then they just got really rude and didn't care about us as people, fair enough we're freelances but didn't mean they could treat us like shit 😠. I jumped ship and have been with a different company for almost a year and it was the best decision I ever made.

Spirogyra · 03/03/2022 20:20

@0htooooodles (hope that is the correct number of o's Grin) Thanks, I have read through the relevant sections on the wiki before, that gives a good indication. There does seem to be a high rate of turnover of freelancers but it's been a useful source of income for me, I like to moan on here sometimes though Grin (have spoken to you on these threads before but namechanged this year)
Are you working for Mod squad? Interested to hear that as they are on the list at the beginning of the thread but don't remember anyone mentioning applying or working for them. I did click the link once & couldn't see anything about vacancies.

NativityDreaming · 03/03/2022 20:48

Thanks to these threads I have been on prolific since December. It was a slow start but picked up since January.
Dec - £46
January -£161
Feb - £160

I couldn’t get on in Appen at all, it felt like a lot of work and no reward.

I was just looking at the Branded Surveys site, does anyone use them? Is it worth it?

Redcrayons · 03/03/2022 21:22

@NativityDreaming that’s incredible for prolific. I’m doing well if I get over £20. Are you logged in all day?

NativityDreaming · 03/03/2022 21:27

@Redcrayons - I am logged on during the day when my children are in school and take surveys if they don’t conflict with my work. Then I am on from 7 pm until bedtime with prolific assistant running and checking for surveys. I have taken some hints from the Prolific Reddit and will keep clicking a full survey link in case anyone returns it. I have also been lucky in getting on three well paying longitudinal surveys that gave nice bonuses for completing multiple surveys over one or two weeks.

rhij86 · 04/03/2022 04:34

@0htooooodles glad to hear you got out of spuds and found something better! Interested to know who it's with if you're happy to share?!

@NativityDreaming that's amazing totals for prolific! I need to try harder haha

I'm persevering with Potatoes. Current affairs have made it a bit busier. I've signed up for night shifts but am unlikely to be picked as I'm one of the ones who barely scrape through with the monthly minimum and rather slow.

rhij86 · 04/03/2022 13:36

@MrsWombat I was surprised when they picked me, so you never know! Fingers crossed.

Anyone having cash out stuck on pending with Prolific? They're normally instant but it's been like it for over a day.

rhij86 · 04/03/2022 14:40

@howfartospar I cashed out fine yesterday but a few people have mentioned on the prolific reddit channel that they're experiencing delays recently

I haven't received an email either Sad

Yes, I've noticed that for a couple of weeks now. I got a bit panicked to start with as I thought maybe some of my studies were going to be rejected!

@NativityDreaming Branded Surveys is very low paying ime and there is a lot of screening out. I can't be bothered with it anymore and it's definitely my survey site of last resort if nothing else has anything going.

I just saw on Reddit Prolific that they have suspended payouts this weekend so they can work on the problem. I was able to cash out this morning and the money made it to my PayPal but loads of people have had issues.

Thanks @justalittlebitextra. My friend in the states does Mturk and she noticed that there, she screens out of so many surveys and it is a waste of her time.
