Potato peeps - it's on absolute fire today! I've made over £30 in 2 hours tonight and am going to bed now as knackered (cross-eyed and numb fingers lol!)

rhij86 · 05/03/2022 04:34

@ruralwanderer that's a good haul, well done!! I was in bed before you even sent that as had to be up early for my 4am potato shift, but hope some others managed to make a good amount :)

I also had a great day with the spuds. The surge coincided with my lunch break and got through loads. Love it when it’s the same content over and over. Kicking myself I didn’t pick up many shifts. Mums taxi duties after work so I couldn’t do a full hour for most of the evening.

@rhij86 4am Shock hope you get a little nap later.

rhij86 · 05/03/2022 08:14

@redcrayons nope with two toddlers that's me up for the day now! Early to bed to do it all over again tomorrow 😴

Such a pain when you know you can't quite commit to a full hour or exact time! Glad you got lots done though.

Was good timing for you then, I didn't realise it was busy until mid afternoon so missed all the best surges, annoyingly I was browsing on here instead Grin I usually have a quick look at slack to see what is going on, but didn't yesterday!
I stayed on it all evening until too tired & got on a few shifts, but there was fetching for half an hour on one, annoying when that happens when it is busy. Made a good total but did put in a lot of hours, would rather have started earlier in the day and got the better surges.

Please can I ask, is there any money to be earned when I only have access to an IPad rather than a computer/laptop?

jelly79 · 06/03/2022 07:56

Hi all!!! What's this potato thing you speak of? I am new here and reading through your posts in an attempt to find something I can enjoy to earn some extra pennies

I have a good job WFH 4 days a week but things feel so tight! I am a single parent to most evenings and some weekends available to knuckle down and get stuck in.

Any advice or starting points would be gratefully received x

jelly79 · 06/03/2022 07:58

Oooh I read it's crisp! Will have a look x

Redcrayons · 06/03/2022 11:57

You can do things like surveys on a phone or IPad, but most things require a laptop.
PoseyFlump · 06/03/2022 12:01

@jelly79 crisp you have to pass an exam (which is doable) and then go on a waiting list. I passed mine last summer and heard nothing yet. Some say they waited 2 years.

First, sign up to Prolific and then look at Appen connect and even matched betting. Transcription work is okay but low pay and usually not busy weekends as work tends to be added in office hours!

Skint2022 · 06/03/2022 16:00

So I’ve made just over £30 on prolific but the studies have really dried up? Is this because it’s the weekend? I had a £6 one yesterday which I was buzzing about but then absolutely nothing since. Hoping it picks up again tomorrow.

Are there any other sites that are relatively simple to use? I can’t manage to get more than 18/20 on crisp and by the sounds of it I’ll be back to work (on mat leave) by the time I’d be accepted anyway. I signed up to Appen and Utest but I’ve not been finding the websites very user friendly. Prolific is the easiest £30 I’ve ever made! It’s also very good because I can be on the website whilst sitting watching tv and if a study comes through where I need to use the laptop then I can reserve and then go and do it. I don’t really want to have to be sitting next to the laptop for hours on end.

Redcrayons · 06/03/2022 17:05

Prolific is a bit unpredictable. They are mostly academic studies, so slow down over summer and around holidays. I usually get around £20 a month but I probably miss loads as I’m not sitting at my laptop all the time.

I’ve been fairly impressed with Qmee in the last couple of weeks. It’s a phone app, and not as good as Prolific, you get screened out a fair bit, but I’m easily making £1 a day. Could probably do more but I get a bit bored of the same old thing all the time.

TheFoldOx · 06/03/2022 18:22

I've just signed up with 20Cogs and have a question I hope someone can help with.

I did the Gala Bingo signup at Cog 5, deposited £5 and should get £15 back - and actually won £20.12. I'm now at Cog 13 and am being offered £15 from Coral, for £5 signup. However, the terms and conditions state that it "will not confirm if taken in conjunction with any other Coral or Gala offers on 20Cogs, or elsewhere".

Does this mean that as I signed up with Gala at an earlier Cog, this offer wouldn't count for Cog 13?

Thanks!

Coffeencrochet · 06/03/2022 20:42

Prolific have decided to put my account on hold and won't let me verify my account Confused they seemed determined not to let me progress anyway, it wouldn't let me confirm my number and said my PayPal was already connected to another account when I've never used prolific in my life! I'll have to give it another go with another email but knowing my luck it'll be the same result.

jelly79 · 06/03/2022 21:14

@PoseyFlump thank you!!

PoseyFlump · 07/03/2022 16:20

You're welcome @jelly79

@Coffeencrochet Prolific have just made big changes to their system and have also currently suspended payouts for everyone (presumably because they've messed something up!) Is yours an old account or a new one?

PoseyFlump · 07/03/2022 16:28

I had a weird message from a researcher in prolific saying that some people had faked a survey and had obtained a completion code elsewhere. I can't see how this can happen if studies are invite only on your profile? Sounds like they've had to pay out double for the study. And they were giving participants the opportunity to return their submissions! I hope this doesn't impact on honest participants.

Redcrayons · 08/03/2022 06:50

Back on Amur for me. 5 items in total, first one is some make up. Will complete all the purchases later, hopefully something good will come up.

Buster27 · 08/03/2022 08:23

I was surprised to wake up to an am** email (well the shops version), I did group 2 when it was on the go but I haven't been selected for shops for ages. Only got 3 items and not overly exciting although I was able to choose a pair of shoes I was thinking of buying anyway so it was worth it for that! Also got a non-refundable (on sale) clothing item (will probably try selling on Vinted or similar) and a cheap plastic cup Grin

NativityDreaming · 08/03/2022 08:48

Loads of people received that message apparently. The consensus seems to be that 1) the researcher likely posted the survey to other sites where uses may be able to scan the system 2) he should be getting in touch with prolific if he thinks there was an issue with more surveys released than he intended 3) if you contact a researcher the date:time stamp shows on the message of when you originally started and completed the survey.

The suggestion is to message/reply to the researcher that you did complete the survey and receive the complete code and entered it on prolific. if he thinks prolific releases too many surveys he should contact them. And you should contact Prolific support through the help centre so they know what’s going on as well.

PoseyFlump · 08/03/2022 09:57

@NativityDreaming to be honest I ignored it because he said he was working his way manually through the submitted studies and he'll see I completed it properly. I was thinking of replying saying it really should be a matter to discuss with prolific directly. It's like asking scammers to admit they're a scammer! They probably just messed up. I saw on Reddit someone saying they'd been paid wrong due to a decimal point error and they were messaging participants asking for the money back Grin

Coffeencrochet · 08/03/2022 09:59

@poseyflump I created the account maybe one month ago but never received an email for it. I decided to try logging in a couple of days ago and it let me in despite me not receiving the confirmation email Hmm then it wouldn't accept any ID or PayPal account and suspended me :(

PoseyFlump · 08/03/2022 10:03

@Coffeencrochet I wonder if the system thinks you're trying to create two accounts? I've never had to contact Prolific but it's worth trying to explain all that and see if they can reset it for you. Prolific is really good to get if you can. It's paid my supermarket shop this week.

Redcrayons · 08/03/2022 10:03

How can you cheat on Prolific though?
I could post all my completion codes but unless you get the survey it means nothing.

I ended up deleting the account because it seemed like too much hassle at the time, but now that you've put it that way I'll see if I can create a new account and if not then I'll contact the team.
