Wlell done @Nepenthe. I waited around 10 months before I heard from them, and started just at the beginning of the pandemic when it was really busy. Some people have waited a lot longer.

They usually bring a new batch of people when it gets really busy, at the moment it’s pretty quiet so you could be waiting for a while.

Nepenthe · 16/01/2022 17:19

Thanks @Redcrayons. I suspected as much. At least step one is done though :)

MoreMoneyPlease · 16/01/2022 19:09

@Nepenthe I've been on the waiting list for 2 and a half years! Just re-applied.

I think I'm going to have to give up Sh**ne, the items I've had this time around are shocking and I'm starting to feel bad about ordering tat I really don't want. I don't think I can even give away a couple of the items!! Anyone else feel the same?

Catatemyhomework · 16/01/2022 22:03

@MoreMoneyPlease, you could return them if it's worth the postage cost for you. I only hot 2 items this month but I am going to return them. I will never wear them and I don't know anyone else who would either apart from maybe fancy dress. I don't often return but I am going to this time. Two items of clothing, both UK each garment £30. I will probably lose £10 on postage but they are awful!

MoreMoneyPlease · 16/01/2022 23:56

@Catatemyhomework I usually do return the items I don’t want but two of them this month are personalised and can’t be returned! I’ll hope for better in February Smile

rhij86 · 17/01/2022 11:07

First shift on my new spud peeling task... dragged my ass out of bed at 3.30 for a 4am start... couldn't access any of the queues Hmm

Anyone else on prolific do the coin game? Waiting for that to pay out so I can cash out my next £5 haha. Haven't done too badly on that so far this month.

PigeonPigPie · 17/01/2022 13:58

Does anyone use Way With Words? Struggling to get past the audio test!

cannotfindanickname · 17/01/2022 16:37

@PigeonPigPie I am also struggling to get past the audio test.

AppleJane · 17/01/2022 17:43

I've done the tests for WWW and audio is next and I keep putting it off! Grin

IsMaithLiomLeaba · 17/01/2022 19:57

I passed the WWW offline assessment recently but got an email saying that they're not able to bring me on board right now because there isn't enough work and they don't know when that will change 😥

I'm not sure what advice to offer for the audio test though, sorry! I just triple checked the guidelines for each clip. I would say people might be tempted to over-punctuate though, their style is fairly basic.

RightsHoardingRaptor · 17/01/2022 20:09

Also at the audio test stage and putting it off!

AppleJane · 18/01/2022 09:14

@IsMaithLiomLeaba I'm glad you've said that about WWW not taking on new people at the moment. I can take the audio test now without stressing if it's not certain to lead anywhere!!

YonderTweek · 18/01/2022 09:55

Glad you got yours sorted @Wolf1970. I had to upload about a million documents to prove my identity and address, but I got there in the end and have now been paid. I think it's because I haven't got a UK passport and Payoneer's robots were confused by this. Grin

Perhaps I should reapply to Potato. I have been on the waiting list since June 2019. I'm not that fussed though because it sounds like it's not as good as it used to be, but at the moment I have nothing to do so it would be better than nothing.

WhatHoJeeves · 18/01/2022 11:22

Hello. I'm new to this but we're very much in need of some extra money as I haven't been able to work for some time due to health issues. As I would still find it hard to go out of the house to work, I thought these flexible jobs working from home could be perfect for getting me back into work and helping the household finances.

However, I have just had an email from WWW saying that I have been unsuccessful at the offline assessment. I really wish I hadn't done it as it's just knocked my confidence even more - I've completely lost all confidence and been feeling useless and a failure for the past couple of years and this hasn't helped. I was an English teacher so if I can't do this I feel like I can't do anything!

I was feeling so positive yesterday when I submitted it all, like it was a step towards a new start, and now I feel crap again.

I've tried to sign up for Appen too but that seems very confusing and off-putting, with all the different projects. WWW appealed as it seemed simpler to get started with but clearly a bad choice. Sad

Can anyone suggest any simple things to try to get started and regain a bit of confidence in myself? I tried Prolific but I'm on a waiting list.

TibetanTerrah · 18/01/2022 12:04

@WhatHoJeeves don't let it knock your confidence! I think you can reapply in something like 30 or 90 days - have a look. Presumably you've still got the offline files so can you go through them with a fine toothed comb at your leisure to isolate what you did wrong? In any case, even if you passed, there isn't any work right now. Like a PP I got the email this week that I'd passed but they can't take me on at the minute.

PigeonPigPie · 18/01/2022 12:28

Glad I'm not the only one struggling with WWW! Made £3 on Attapoll yesterday (kept getting disqualified from the higher paying ones...) and have just listed lots of bits on Vinted. Completed my first Appen task. Do the invoices appear automatically when your work has been assessed?

WhatHoJeeves · 18/01/2022 12:29

@TibetanTerrah Thank you. I know I'm being daft to be so bothered about it but I've been in a pretty low place and it feels like yet another thing to beat myself up about. When you're feeling a bit useless it feels like any knock-back just confirms that opinion of yourself. I did try really hard too, which makes it worse!

The fact that there's no feedback to see where you went wrong is frustrating as I'm reluctant to have another go in case it's just more rejection. I think maybe transcription isn't for me so I'll have to look for other options.

As you say, it wouldn't have been much help anyway as they aren't taking people on at the moment but it's like wanting to be offered a job after an interview even though you've decided you don't want to take it. It's still nice to be offered it rather than rejected. Smile

TibetanTerrah · 18/01/2022 13:28

@WhatHoJeeves I understand how it's kind of kicked you when you're down so to speak. Maybe forget about it for a couple of weeks, then open all the guidance again and 'mark yourself'? Be really strict and see with fresh eyes if you'd make any changes. It's not nice when it just adds to shitty feelings of low confidence and compounds everything, but it sounds like a good little gig and something you'd be good at. It's not a case of you being shit at English as an ex English teacher - normally it's a research issue or matching their formatting rules exactly.

AppleJane · 18/01/2022 13:34

@WhatHoJeeves we've all been there. Transcription 'failures' are very normal. Even once you get access to work the transcription forums are full of workers arguing about the rules! So don't beat yourself up.

I think matched betting would be perfect for. I am the most risk averse person I know and I can do it easily.

Watch the video 'everything you need to know before you start matched betting' by YouTube channel Profit Accumulator. If you think you'd like to dip your toe in come back here and I'll tell you how I do it and what not to do wrong Smile

PigeonPigPie · 18/01/2022 14:51

I've been thinking of starting matched betting but I read that it can impact mortgage applications? DH and I are hoping to buy in 2024 so not sure if I just did it this year if it could hurt? DH actually did it over the 2020 lockdown and made about 2k so it's already on his file anyway!

AppleJane · 18/01/2022 14:54

@PigeonPigPie I think the general advice is to stop 3 months prior so when you give over a copy of 3 months statements it's not on there. But I've also read on forums that some people say the banks don't care or just use a bank account for that only that you don't need to provide copies of.

AppleJane · 18/01/2022 15:05

@PigeonPigPie a lot of bookmakers won't let 2 people with the same address or IP have accounts so you might struggle if your DH has already rinsed them Grin

PigeonPigPie · 18/01/2022 15:51

@AppleJane We've moved house since so maybe I'll slip through the cracks Grin I've set up a Starling that I'm using for Appen/Vinted so would use that for MB too if I did it and I'm sure would have been blocked by the betting companies long before 2024 anyway Wink

8dpwoah · 18/01/2022 16:04

Just for those that are battling WWW tests - have a look at Rev, it's more straightforward to get on the books and there always seems to be some work on there. I am on it but because I was used to WWW I cocked up a file and nobbled my metrics so haven't done it for a while, but it's not bad work.

WWW is very quiet at the moment but it was rammed before Christmas so hopefully this is a January lull and things will be back to normal before long.

Anyone looking for a starter project on App that isn't a survey, have a look at Og* if it's on your project list, I've been doing it 6 months and still not sure if I'm doing it right or not but it's an hour a day, every day, and it's nice and straightforward.

AnotherOne4 · 18/01/2022 19:00

Has anyone had an auto generated invoice appear yet for Jan on Appen? None of my Jan FB surveys are showing yet Sad
