Hi all, happy May. Welcome to this months thread. I'll load up the link later. If anyone else wants to do it, feel free, I'm rubbish at it.

The idea of this thread is to earn a bit of extra cash, as the title suggest. Have a look and these threads go back a while and might give you some ideas.

Newbies welcome. We're a lovely, helpful lot.

No Am** for me, been doing it for 7 months, I'm not too fussed tbh as the last couple of months have been dire, weird not doing it though

YetAnotherRainyDay · 04/05/2021 12:22

First time on the project. Is it possible to preview the items you've been assigned before purchasing them or do you have to complete the purchases as soon as you've clicked "start purchase"? I don't have time to do it all now, but I'm curious what items I've got.

ruralwanderer · 04/05/2021 13:24

@YetAnotherRainyDay, unfortunately not - you can click in and see your first product but you can't see the rest until you get to them. I think it's to keep us interested and hoping for decent stuff Wink

3dogsnorth · 04/05/2021 13:30

Made about £500 last month between potato peeling, uTest and Prolific. Not picked up any work on Appen since my last long term project ended. With regards to potato I try to do a bit in the morning, maybe 15 mins late afternoon and supper time. Cant say it's enjoyable but seeing the dashboard increasing motivates me. Not tried for any shifts yet, happier with small chunks!

YetAnotherRainyDay · 04/05/2021 13:55

@ruralwanderer Many thanks. Guess I'll just have to wait a bit then. Finally managed to get some work on another project so I'm trying to get in as many hours as possible before it runs out.

peabrainer · 04/05/2021 14:22

Help please from Am** experts, first timer here. Very hesitant to start! So on my first product I click on it and it takes me to the FB page but there's no option to buy direct but it says click here for the website. This then goes to the store's website with lots of items. Do I have to buy the item which was shown in my list or can I browse for anything on the site? Thank you

ruralwanderer · 04/05/2021 14:34

@peabrainer, you can click through to the website and browse and buy anything from the catalogue.

I've just completed my Am** purchases - 3 hideous Chinese fashion websites (my teenage niece will get offered first refusal as returns are too expensive), a lint remover (anyone fancy swap shopping?) and on the final go (there had to be a saving grace!) a wooden garden planter. Unfortunately the planter will take up to 11 weeks to arrive but I've wanted one for a while so will be happy to get it when it does come Grin

Catatemyhomework · 04/05/2021 14:39

@peabrainer, I just asked this exact question on chat. Apparently if you can't purchase the item via FB shop you purchase it on the website as if you click on website button it will follow to that item. You then fill out the survey accordingly, ie. had FB shop but couldn't buy product from it.

dirtyfries · 04/05/2021 15:01

Potato peelers, there's actually a fair amount of content coming through right now. Hope on while you can!

TheLolaMontez · 04/05/2021 15:20

I've managed to peel nearly 400 potatoes today Shock I darent get off!

peabrainer · 04/05/2021 15:35

Thanks @Catatemyhomework @ruralwanderer so do you always choose the most expensive item under $150?

Catatemyhomework · 04/05/2021 15:36

My purchases were not great this time round. 1 skip, 1 KPop hoodie, a ghastly wooden ring and a reasonably ok hoodie but not great. Will not make any money from it this month.

Tinging · 04/05/2021 15:36

Am*r slightly better this month though still nowhere near as good as my first round:
£40 sourbread making kit-looking forward to this!
2 snoods
Cheapish but ok looking shirt
Two fancy arty match boxes (£22!)
Laminate samples
Annoyingly the last two sites were really expensive so I had to buy little bitty things as everything else was over the item spend limit. Very disappointed as there was some lovely stuff. No skips, broken ads or scams this time though so I’m pleased.

ruralwanderer · 04/05/2021 16:19

@peabrainer, for me it depends on what the site is, where the company's based, what the refund policy is and whether there are any products I actually want. Generally if it's a UK based company with a good returns policy for stuff I don't want I'll but the most expensive thing I can within budget so I can get the refund but if it's overseas or junk then I go for the lowest prices possible as it'll most likely end up in the bin.

Catatemyhomework · 04/05/2021 16:30

Well, I'll be damned. Looks like I've passed LB. Just had an email with a load of login info. Not read it yet. Got to try and do some work on Suth**nd or I won't hit 20 hours. Gosh I'm feeling overwhelmed. Never imagined I'd have so much to do!!

seizethecuttlefish · 04/05/2021 17:03

3 Am purchases. A dodgy Chinese website dress, kids supplement (going straight in the bin) and a mud kitchen (which I'm looking forward to). Nothing returnable but ok.

I have 42 outstanding Ap processes now and keep getting emails to sit quizzes that I can't access.

@Catatemyhomework massive congrats. That's brilliant.

didireallyjustsaythat · 04/05/2021 17:20

Am*r was quite good for me this round. 1 Chinese site so bought a cheap kaftan- always usable for summer, a very expensive site that took me way over the budget so had to buy the cheapest item-a scrunchie! A headband/snood and a weed snatcher. None worth returning but some usable items at least. 2 skips though, 1 of them I really wanted to order from as I've always wanted to get from that site but never been sure it's a bit dodgy or not.

8dpwoah · 04/05/2021 17:22

Hi all, I've not posted on these threads for a bit. I'm still just doing FB surveys and I'm another one that's gone for WWW transcription after somebody else mentioned it and I'm now fully functional on there after a long process. Can't speak highly enough of them, so nice dealing with 'real' people.

I have a Q about the tax side of things, I will be redundant and on maternity leave later in the year (hence me lurking on these threads for inspiration!) so my tax situation might be a bit fiddly, do I have to do my self-assessment in January (?) And do I need to do anything at this time or can I look at it later? I'll have wage slips then of course the records from Ap and WWW so the info will be easy to find at least.

Oh one other thing- how do you deal with the currency side of things- do you declare what you get in £ via PayPal before fees?

whysotriggered · 04/05/2021 17:32

Looks like a common item is a wooden planter, I got one too but don't want it!

TheLolaMontez · 04/05/2021 17:38

Does any one know if there's a daily limit on how much potato you're allowed to do?

AnotherOne4 · 04/05/2021 17:48

Urgh! Really struggling with S*th*nd. Don't know if I should give up. I feel like I'm guessing them all. And there isn't much work available, so at this rate I'll never meet the min requirements...

peabrainer · 04/05/2021 17:53

Thanks- this was so helpful in deciding what to buy - have finally finished, took me all afternoon, checking and rechecking. Didn't have any purchases direct from FB shops, always had to go to the websites, is that usual?

Catatemyhomework · 04/05/2021 18:12

Thanks @seizethecuttlefish, it feels a bit overwhelming really. I have already had 2 on boarding emails and apparently I have to sit another exam and get 100% Hmm. This wasn't mentioned previously. I already spent about 50 hours studying and exam. It's too much. It took me about 30 mins per question as I didn't want to get it wrong. I'll not be very productive. Probably earn about £2 pH at the speed I work at. Not sure it's all worth the hassle really.

Tinging · 04/05/2021 18:25

@Catatemyhomework is the extra test LB? They do fire loads at you when you start and it’s quite intense but it’s worth sticking it out. You get access to more and more tasks as time goes on, many not maps related and much easier. I always make over £10 an hour when averaged over the week/month and generally quite a bit more than that. There are often more hours available, up to 30 per week and I’ve had a few decent bonuses too. So it is worth it once you get into it!

peabrainer · 04/05/2021 18:26

Sorry another beginner's Am** question- do you all fill in the reimbursement form on the same day as doing the purchases?
