Hi all, happy May. Welcome to this months thread. I'll load up the link later. If anyone else wants to do it, feel free, I'm rubbish at it.

The idea of this thread is to earn a bit of extra cash, as the title suggest. Have a look and these threads go back a while and might give you some ideas.

Newbies welcome. We're a lovely, helpful lot.

@Tinging, thanks, that is really reassuring to hear. Yes it is LB. The exam I did was Maps Analyst and I found it really hard. Failed first time and then they said I could do it again and I spent the entire weekend on it, all day everyday. I then passed but now worried that I will be too slow. Also nervous about this other exam that I need 100% in. I think it's maps again but maybe for my own country UK possibly as exam was US based. It is very daunting. Not had time to read them properly yet as doing Ar all morning and then Sutand this afternoon and now just had Covid jab so tomorrow's another day! Thanks for the positive vibes though, really appreciate it! Smile

Catatemyhomework · 04/05/2021 19:02

@peabrainer, I do it after each purchase as it's in my head.

superpinkgirl · 04/05/2021 19:04

@peabrainer I complete my reimbursements the same day, but I think you have got until the 12th to complete it.

Tinging · 04/05/2021 19:30

@Catatemyhomework yeah I thought it must be maps by how awful it sounded. I felt the same at first and wondered whether it was worth it for a couple of months but it’s so much more reliable than any of the other online work I’ve done and they don’t kick you off after a year either. Good luck with the exam, you’ve definitely passed the worst of it!

Gatekeeper · 04/05/2021 19:53

has anyone had this when doing Am**

WouldbeVa · 04/05/2021 20:00

Anyone doing the Utest Academy test cycles? Wondering what happens if you fail? I’m on my first one, have found the bug but struggling with the report. Not sure if it’s visual or functional, could be either… also struggling deciding the correct severity 😟

MoreMoneyPlease · 04/05/2021 20:03

I've got a purchase from America, it's $25 delivery charge - does anyone know if this will definitely be reimbursed along with any import taxes? I'm a bit nervous (only my second month on this so haven't had any purchases reimbursed yet!)

bookgirl1982 · 04/05/2021 20:11

@MoreMoneyPlease I had one like that a couple of months back and it was fine. Just check the total doesn't go over the item limit.

Tinging · 04/05/2021 20:12

@Gatekeeper yes I had that last month, just skip due to technical issue.

@MoreMoneyPlease yes the delivery charge will be reimbursed and you can apply for customs charges later if they appear but if you are close to the item spending limit and customs could push it over then I think there is a case for skipping. You could maybe ask for advice in the chat.

Redcrayons · 04/05/2021 20:13

@Gatekeeper I think the the tool not working is a reason to skip. Maybe raise a ticket if it’s on more than one?

Mine are all done.
I had the same retailer twice, wasnt sure what to but went ahead as it two different products.

Two Chinese retailers so Leggings, crop top and vest top
A bra top from posh UK shop so will go back.

A patio planter from garden place. The only thing on the site, available and in budget.

One skip for a site in Dutch

Only one possible return so not a great round for me.

peabrainer · 04/05/2021 20:19

My first month and felt it went well: South Park hoodie, leather sandals (have high hopes for these for myself!) Polish coffee website which I skipped, wooden laptop holder, Man Utd Retro top and some tumbled stones from a Dutch seller but the website had an English option so hoping that's ok. Will prob return most apart from the tumbled stones. Felt like a fun game, just hoping I did it all ok. Haven't started the reimbursements yet which is probably a mistake though ...
Thanks for everyone's advice

Gatekeeper · 04/05/2021 20:32

what a shower of shite

1 scam, 1 pencil case from China, 1 skip due to tool issue, 1 pair of tights for Ramadan, 1 scam

Spent a tenner! I am almost nostalgic for the dusters from my first ever round

3dogsnorth · 04/05/2021 20:33

@WouldbeVa I did the Academy cycles last year and found it a huge learning curve. When I did it you had another go if you failed. I think that uTest prefer that you don't over emphasise the severity. I've had loads of work (and turned down even more) in my first year. Can safely say I'm still learning

RiverSkater · 04/05/2021 20:34

@AnotherOne4

Urgh! Really struggling with S*th*nd. Don't know if I should give up. I feel like I'm guessing them all. And there isn't much work available, so at this rate I'll never meet the min requirements...
What is this please? Smile
RiverSkater · 04/05/2021 20:36

@TheLolaMontez

Does any one know if there's a daily limit on how much potato you're allowed to do?
No, you can do as much as you like? I think they limit those people in shifts. I do find after an hour I need a break though as my typing fingers get tired!

Quite hard to earn much atm anyway.

TheLolaMontez · 04/05/2021 20:40

Definitely @RiverSkater - though I managed over 600 items today, there was a load of content this afternoon and I flew through a load of it, it was amazing! And I didn't dare stop because it's been so quiet for ages. Made a good dent in the monthly target though Grin

RiverSkater · 04/05/2021 20:40

@Bumzoo

Crisp is terrible at the moment. I've never seen so many people complaining on here and over there.
I haven't seen that, is it on the s**ck dashboard, I'm surprised they allow anybody to complain 😆

That’s good to know, it’s definitely a lot to learn. So after I posted I decided to submit my report, thinking I would have until it locks to revise and was wondering if I should change visual to functional. However I’ve just had a message from test team lead saying ‘good work on the report, keep it up’ does that mean I did it right. Nerve wracking this stuff!

Mancbee · 04/05/2021 20:52

Well that was interesting!
2 skips, a ridiculously expensive hair scrunchie, a weight loss supplement and a barbed wire fence tightener Confused
I should have a couple of returns there so it could have been worse.

leavesleepingdogs · 04/05/2021 21:09

Just stumbled on this thread and am intrigued. I've read right through and I'm looking at the various companies you all use.

Can anyone tell me what WWW, LB and FB are?

Thanks!

Bumzoo · 04/05/2021 21:11

I wanted the planter but it said ten week delivery so I thought I wouldn't be able to review it. Bugger. I ended up with a BBQ accessory Grin

unicornpoopoop · 04/05/2021 21:14

My first 3 were awful. Second hand baby grow. Cookie cutter and a name necklace. I was wondering whether it's worth carrying on.

But then I got a £100 dress and £60 trainers both with free returns so they make it worth it

AnotherOne4 · 04/05/2021 21:14

@RiverSkater it's a job on Ap.

@leavesleepingdogs - I'll pm you Grin

MoreMoneyPlease · 04/05/2021 21:20

Thanks @Tinging @bookgirl1982. I think it'll be close but okay as long as I haven't calculated it incorrectly. Can anyone give me an idea of how much tax they've paid on an item from the USA so I know if I'm in the right ball park??!

MollysMum09 · 04/05/2021 21:25

I've been sent the LB exam and am going through the guidelines. It's hundreds of pages and is blowing my mind a bit. I'm not quite sure how I'm meant to remember all of this. Or even how I'm supposed to organise it in my head to be able to refer back to it - it's all so similar but ever so subtley different for each example.
