"Bonder" when I have highlights at the hairdressers. I asked if I want it, although I don't know if need it, and then the colourist asks her assistant to mix up 1/4 of a teaspoon of it. The costs an extra £20.

I probably do need it, but I don't know many things that cost £20 for 1/4 teaspoon.

BlueVelvetDress · 24/02/2020 06:59

I agree re printer cartridges- hugely expensive

BlueVelvetDress · 24/02/2020 07:03

“call out” charges - on top of what you are paying for labour and anything which needs replacing

2beautifulbabs · 24/02/2020 07:07

Houses
Cars
Most things in life are a rip off businesses whack a hefty profit onto products when it only costs them £1 or more to make and they charge £50 or more for said product because it has a branded name on it

BlueVelvetDress · 24/02/2020 07:09

Interest charged on overdrafts or credit cards

But in that case you vote with your purse and don't buy it surely?

It's things where you have no choice of supplier, or the suppliers price fix, that are the true rip offs, because you can't choose to take your business elsewhere.

Cups of tea in cafes. It’s a tea bag in some hot water. £2.50???

pollysproggle · 24/02/2020 07:49

Parking in Brighton.

janemaster · 24/02/2020 09:48

Parking in Town Centres. High streets are struggling, why make them struggle even more by charging exorbitant parking prices?
I rarely go into town because of this.

Kazzyhoward · 24/02/2020 09:52

42p of that is VAT which goes to the government.

Don't you want someone to make it for you and clean up after you? Staff are expensive.

Don't you want somewhere to drink it? A chair to sit on and a table? A room to drink it in? Rates, water, insurance, power, security, waste disposal, bank charges, property maintenance - all very expensive.

Most small cafes don't even make their owners a living wage!

I bought two drinks and a packet of crisps in a london pub.. 1 pint beer and one double g and t.. bill was £23. And this is just in an ordinary pub. Yerwhat?

CloudsCanLookLikeSheep · 24/02/2020 12:16

I take it you have never done drugs....

JumpingOnTheBed · 24/02/2020 12:21

Things are only overpriced because people keep buying them though. Dominos is shite yet it’s advertised, plus peer pressure as it’s popular, so much people become brainwashed into thinking It’s a treat. That’s current life though, popular and trendy is the most important thing

This totally makes me wonder at what point in my life I got brainwashed to love the taste of Dominos....hmmm

CloudsCanLookLikeSheep · 24/02/2020 14:17

Overpriced beauty products, moisturisers and serums.

Although I am quite pleased about that as I sell sample sizes on ebay and make a mint!

coffeeforone · 24/02/2020 20:06

Greetings cards and gift bags
Lego
Paw patrol toys!
Perfume

coffeeforone · 24/02/2020 20:08

And yes to kids shoes - Clarks, almost £40 for toddlers' shoes that will last a few months.

woodhill · 24/02/2020 20:12

Florida and visiting Sanibel particularly- rip off parking and toll bridge

Their resort tax too and the exchange rate.

Used to be better value

ilovedjerrymore · 01/03/2020 13:10

Life in general is expensive!
House prices at the moment are a joke, zone 6 we are in and I will never be able to afford a home here! Even the roughest parts are so higher!

GulliBelle · 02/03/2020 14:09

FM world is multilevel marketing. They charge £8 for a flannel. I can get about 50 for that price from Ikea.

ihatethecold · 02/03/2020 15:22

batteries and ink cartridges that say they will print 500 pages but only last about 100!!

Im seriously considering buying a new printer instead of new cartridges next time.... so environmentally unfriendly so I won't but I'd prefer to.
