Solicitors and mirrors. I disagree about vets though. The actual costs they incur are huge.

Solicitors have huge overheads too. Their PI insurance is usually tens of thousands p.a. as is the software they have to use. Likewise, expensive premises, support staff, CPD, subscriptions, etc. I've done accounts/tax returns for both (and lots of other professions) and their wages/profits are pretty similar, as expected for similarly qualified professionals.

You have clearly never been to the Park Lane Hilton.

Many tines, but not for about 5 or 6 years.

You can get get theatre tickets cheap for most shows online or by queuing in the day. MSe has links.

Toilet roll is very cheap. Deluxe from aldi and Farmfoods 18 roll packs in deluxe and standard are both better than Andrex.

I buy both Farmfoods and Aldi regularly but stocked up on half price Andrex at Xmas but I'm shocked at how poor it now is, soft but too thin. The others are soft, strong and cheap.

Cars that are 1 2 or 3 years old are s bargain. Some brands come with 5 or 7 year warranties so I don't think car's are necessarily expensive. It's a choice to spend more over a certain point.

Lots of 2 for 1 on dining out. Also railcards give cheaper trains but also cheaper meals out.

Meerkat gives 2 for 1 cinema and meals.

Dominoes is expensive with rubbish deals. I only get it if passing and s lunch time deal I'd available do mini pizza and can for £3. I've never had it otherwise.

katy1213 · 23/02/2020 19:23

Cereal, it's just animal fodder in a £3 box.
Sandals - couple of leather straps and they cost nearly as much as proper shoes.

BikeRunSki · 23/02/2020 19:28

Spectacles

But the optician’s time and eye test, eye exam etc, but the actual glasses. My last pair cyst meant £500, which is why my next appt is with Asda.

BikeRunSki · 23/02/2020 19:29

“cyst meant” - “cost me”.

Vet consultations. Sorry vets, but £35 for a 10 minute appointment is extortionate. I imagine it puts some people off seeking help for their pets.

isabellerossignol · 23/02/2020 19:34

£35 for a consultation seems like a pretty good deal to me, considering how long it takes to train to be a vet, and how much it will have cost (if the vet has trained in the last 20 years or so)

Grasspigeons · 23/02/2020 19:36

A packet of crisps in the British musrum. £1.75!

Printer ink. Fuck me, do they make it out of powdered gold?

Dishwasher tablets. It’s basically a teeny bit of detergent and even less salt. Must cost tuppence to make a whole box.

TwitcherOfCurtains · 24/02/2020 01:24

Spreadable butter £3.75!

My local Sainsbury's sells President spreadable for £2 a tub, goes great with their 'taste the difference' cheese blood.

BarbaraofSeville · 24/02/2020 06:43

Spreadable butter (the proper stuff like president or M&S own brand) are pretty much the same price as standard butter.
