HAPPY NEW YEAR

For anyone who wasn't with us last year, we all set about trying to earn £10 a day on top of our usual income. No MLM schemes or anything dodgy. There were some fantastic amounts achieved, mat leaves extended, babies conceived, and redundancies survived. I know the thread got a bit confusing to follow for new starters, but please don't be intimidated! You don't need any special skills or anything to do any of this, it's all really accessible and I promise we'll all try to be clear about what sites/terms are so no one gets too lost

I haven't had time to put a full list together, and to be honest I want to pop off and go make the most of the content on Crisp Thinking (social media moderation site averaging around £10 per hour) but I was planning on popping up a list a bit later today.

@Lougle Is that other project Atascadero? I get the "work this" button on that but just a message about getting an email comes up. I emailed them about this and the reply was that they've filled their quota for the demographics and are not longer taking submissions from my language (English). It's still on my screen with a "work this" button though....

Hello, I'm new to the thread. Just signed up to Appen today so hopefully I will be able to get started soon. Could someone clarify something about Appen for me? Do you have to keep checking regularly and applying for the projects or do they contact you about any projects they want you to do once you're registered?

I'm really confused by Appen. After my initial application was accepted, I applied to four of the projects on the project page. It says I have 4 active processes and there is nothing for me to do at this time. It's said that for at least one month. I would have thought if I'd not been accepted I'd have heard that by now? And I have never seen any of the qualifying tests that I read others talk about. Is there something more I should be doing or something I have done wrong, or is this standard procedure? That's on connect.appen. On appen global I have never seen anything.

Appen. Keep checking and applying. You'll most likely end up with a few in process, that come to nothing. It's frustrating. I have 15 in progress. 6 that say work this but have no work and 1 I'm on. It's the Appen way.

Thanks seize. I'm just finding it confusing when people are talking about various tests and projects and I'm just not seeing this stuff. But I'll try being patient!

I have just messed up a practice study on intellizoom. It needed a quiet room and to record your reactions to a website as you go through tasks. Dp opened the door to the room I'm in as I was doing it and said something about needing a poo, so I quickly shut down the screen because my webcam and microphone were on and recording I guess that's my chances with them ruined but I don't know if they're that good anyway.

No news from Rev yet today, and I suppose no news is good news. I hope I pass. I know the pay is poor but I quite enjoy transcription work

@SimplyBlue, I haven't heard from Rev yet either. I did the test yesterday. Appen is a funny one I think. I signed up with them in early December. Applied for Atascadero and also got the work this button. I finally emailed them again a few days ago and they have now finally sent me the guidelines so I should be able to start that soon, although it is just a one off project. Waiting for news from Calawah. I haven't had much luck with Appen so far.

Got 18/20 for Crisp...will try again tomorrow. Have downloaded some of the apps so fingers crossed. And today switched to sim only now my contract is up, saving £50 a month on my mobile phone bill...win!

Anyone with Rev? I am trying to do the application and am through to the transcription editing test. The words on the screen are totally different to the audio, not even the same scenario - text is info about Rev and audio is about planes? No idea what to do, am I meant to rewrite it all? The instructions said it was transcription editing not rewriting, I am confused

@SimplyBlue, I think I said something along the lines of "I applied for this project on X date and I have had the 'Work This' button for over a month. When I click on it, I get a message saying that I will receive an email detailing the task and I haven't yet received this. Could you let me know what I need to do next? Thanks". It was words to that effect.

@anxiouswaiting, that sounds like a mistake to me. My text was about Rev, as was the audio, although there were discrepancies which I had to alter. I would message them and ask as that sounds like it might be a synchronisation issue.

SimplyBlue- I started applying for Appen tasks early last year and finally got a project in December. I currently have 40 active processes
I just apply for everything I can and then wait.
Today I got an invite to do the qual test for one of them, but the one I'm on didn't have a test.
It's the luck of the draw as others have said.

Someone asked earlier about Lionbridge- lots of us applied to them last year too but they don't have as much work as Appen. I never heard anything back from them.

If people could kindly post another 156 times, I'd love you all forever because my phone is struggling with this thread now

I ❤️❤️ this group and read the posts here more than the news lol. I have been following this post since the summer and have 3 steady streams which I am so very grateful for. I am on Trunkee on Appen and can just do with one more long term so come on crisp.. Thanks to @AliciaWhiskers for the help re the chat work. I've finally been accepted and just past my trial
