So... Anyone up for an earn £10 a day 2020 thread?

HAPPY NEW YEAR Crown Grin

For anyone who wasn't with us last year, we all set about trying to earn £10 a day on top of our usual income. No MLM schemes or anything dodgy. There were some fantastic amounts achieved, mat leaves extended, babies conceived, and redundancies survived. I know the thread got a bit confusing to follow for new starters, but please don't be intimidated! You don't need any special skills or anything to do any of this, it's all really accessible and I promise we'll all try to be clear about what sites/terms are so no one gets too lost Smile

I haven't had time to put a full list together, and to be honest I want to pop off and go make the most of the content on Crisp Thinking (social media moderation site averaging around £10 per hour) but I was planning on popping up a list a bit later today.

What has peoples experience been of selling on etsy? I'm thinking for vintagy/retro things not general stuff. Gumtree I've found you generally get less money but less hassle (aside from people not turning up). But I've had issues with CFs when I've sold on ebay and they do seem to side automatically with buyer x

Tohaveandtohold · 06/01/2020 22:12

Happy new year to everyone and thanks @otterses for the new thread.
Can someone help me to clarify this.Dh started work with Appen in July and he has earned more than £1000 so he has called HMRC and registered for self assessment since Nov however he has not received any paperwork’s, UTR etc. Is he meant to complete the self assessment thing by the end of January 2020 or is it by Jan 2021? It’s his first self employment role he if it makes any difference.

DontCallMeDarling · 06/01/2020 22:18

@tohaveandtohold it is the January after the end of the tax year that he earned the money in so if I understand correctly Jan 2021.

girlicorne · 06/01/2020 22:20

@Tohaveandtohold he needs to file by 31st January 2021 for his earnings from April 2019 to April 2020 (can’t remember exact dates of the tax year i think it’s 6th to 5th?) So he can file any time after the end of this tax year in April but he must have it in by 31.01.21. Hope that makes sense 😀

After my good start today on Prolific I haven't had much more luck. No new studies on Prolific and I have signed up for Qmee which seemed OK but the first 3 surgerys I have tried I
have had technical problems (either saying it's too busy, not recognising postcode etc) and as soon as something goes wrong it doesn't let you restart the survey. Will keep trying!

Has anyone used Respondent? I had a go at signing up but I'm not entirely sure that I'm the sort of person they are looking for?

themoneyshed · 06/01/2020 22:53

@CallofDoodee

Respondent is excellent, I've made hundreds of dollars from just doing simple 30-45min webcam studies with them about all manner of subjections. Banking, home business, reviewing a website etc.

The work is dynamic so make sure to check each day for new studies that have appeared ;)

Lovely big blog post about them here ;)

Anyone else wondering how much you can earn from Crisp, I’m loving it so interesting but I’m so slow. Any tips ?

SunsetBoulevard3 · 06/01/2020 23:13

I’m in! I didn’t understand the last thread.

Spartonian · 06/01/2020 23:46

Respondent want a verified work email address, I tried using one of the email address I use for work but it said it has to be verified, can anyone help as to how I can get that done?

Spartonian · 07/01/2020 00:05

Managed to verify work email and now have 100+ messages I need to read.

justtheonethen · 07/01/2020 04:13

@Whatsmyname2019 I earn around £11 an hour on crisp (before surges). I also do shift work which is guaranteed money although not better paid. Practice is the only way to get quicker, also I never work if the queues are low and I have two windows open and switch when it takes time to load.

@CallofDoodee respondent is fab.

Tohaveandtohold · 07/01/2020 04:23

Thank you @girlicorne and @DontCallMeDarling. That explains it well x

TheCanterburyWhales · 07/01/2020 06:05

@whereareyousleep- a lot of appens sign you up specifically for PC/laptop use not mobile (and vice versa) I couldn't do my full 5 days from 7 last week because I was travelling for 3 and had no pc access. I tried from Chrome browser on my phone but didn't work. Sounds like maybe yours is similar.

Watching with interest!

For those who do matched betting, please could you help with a few questions?

  1. How much did you start with
  2. How much did you average in the first three months and how does this compare as time goes on?
  3. How much time daily do you put in?

Thanks!

MynameisJune · 07/01/2020 08:48

@justtheonethen how do you get into the shift work? There’s nothing available when I look. Is it something they offer after you’ve been doing it a while?

briefinterlude · 07/01/2020 08:52

I'm very late to join this thread as have been unwell. I'm definitely in

justtheonethen · 07/01/2020 09:02

@MynameisJune they offered it to me after a couple of months. They do ask on slack occasionally if anyone wants to do it.

SunsetBoulevard3 · 07/01/2020 09:28

Is respondent only a US thing?

themoneyshed · 07/01/2020 09:30

@LMW1990

  1. £60 - I’ve never put anymore in and have made well over £40,000+ with matched betting

  2. first month about £600, second £1000 third £800 - after that you are looking at longterm of around £500-£1000 a month depending on the time of year and how big your “pot” is by then. I never took any money out until I hit £3000 profit

  3. just a few minutes. Maybe a bit longer at the weekend :)

LMW1990 · 07/01/2020 09:32

@themoneyshed

Blimey!! Think I need to look into this properly! I've briefly had a look but couldn't get my head round it. For that sort of return I'll force my head round it Wink thank you!

themoneyshed · 07/01/2020 09:37

@LMW1990

It’s literally money for nothing!! :)

As always this is a great starting point which hopefully explaining matched betting is “super simple language!”

whereareyousleep · 07/01/2020 10:14

So I have qualified on Appen for a project and done the final checks etc but I don't actually know how to start it. It still says qualify in the all projects tab will that change to work this when I can start it? Sorry for the million questions I'm sure I'll get the hang of it when it starts

lynsey91 · 07/01/2020 10:35

@themoneyshed do you mind if i ask a question about matched betting?

I did it for about 2 months last year and made about £500. I had done just about all the sign up offers and needed the money so stopped.

What do you do after the sign ups end? Are you doing casino?

theatrenerd31 · 07/01/2020 10:36

Does anyone know if the CV makes any difference to Appen? I've got one to upload but until I can get in to see someone to brood it I'm not confident that it's particularly brilliant! I'm not sure how much they use it so I've been putting off submitting it. Will it make a difference/is it worth waiting, or is it just a tick box?

Whatsmyname2019 · 07/01/2020 10:37

@justtheonethen crikey I’m making about £3 an hour haha
