So... Anyone up for an earn £10 a day 2020 thread?

HAPPY NEW YEAR Crown Grin

For anyone who wasn't with us last year, we all set about trying to earn £10 a day on top of our usual income. No MLM schemes or anything dodgy. There were some fantastic amounts achieved, mat leaves extended, babies conceived, and redundancies survived. I know the thread got a bit confusing to follow for new starters, but please don't be intimidated! You don't need any special skills or anything to do any of this, it's all really accessible and I promise we'll all try to be clear about what sites/terms are so no one gets too lost Smile

I haven't had time to put a full list together, and to be honest I want to pop off and go make the most of the content on Crisp Thinking (social media moderation site averaging around £10 per hour) but I was planning on popping up a list a bit later today.

I'm in. This is the year I pay off my credit cards and finally get sensible with money.

Sallycinnamum · 06/01/2020 09:47

I've also just been accepted onto my first Appen project so just waiting for details.

I'd better register my self employed status now if experienced people can point me in the right direction.

margaritasbythesea · 06/01/2020 09:53

Sallycinnamum - you go to the HMRC website to register as self employed. If you don't already have an online HMRC account set up, that can take a bit of time as I remember.

Sallycinnamum · 06/01/2020 09:55

Many thanks margarita.

whereareyousleep · 06/01/2020 10:13

So been accepted for Appen and applied for everything do they prompt you to provide an invoice or do you have to remember what tasks you are doing and how much it is per hour etc I just assumed that they paid you automatically.

toastytea · 06/01/2020 10:18

thought I'd give an update -

Appen quietened down but I still have a long term project.

Neevo - I enjoyed the task I managed to do but no work since! Also very prompt payment.

Prolific - I do this when nothing else is on!

Respondent - never had any luck

U test - get so many emails but never had anything

User testing - no success there either!

Vypr - I'm not going to bother with this once I cash out my £5😩

I applied for crisp in summer so hoping I hear back soon!

Frenchdoors1 · 06/01/2020 10:18

@HarrietThePi
Yes, I could get a provisional I suppose, forgot all about that and another poster did mention it a while ago too.
Thanks! :)

Lougle · 06/01/2020 10:31

@toastytea did you do the Academy test cycles for UTest? I've just done my first Academy test cycle successfully. I'll need to register for the second one later.

margaritasbythesea · 06/01/2020 10:43

I just did the Crisp test but didn't get a score. Where do you find out? They said they had added me to the waiting list which sounds good, but I am curious!

margaritasbythesea · 06/01/2020 10:52

Sorry. They just emailed me. 18. Gah.

CallofDoodee · 06/01/2020 11:36

I'm so interested in all of this but I'm just wondering if any of it would be suitable - I am really not technical, my background is in education. I like to think of myself as fairly intelligent and competent (have a university degree etc) but I don't know if I have the skills!

For the Crisp/Appen websites, can anyone give examples of the sorts of things you have to do? Or for the Crisp quiz, the sorts of questions they ask you? Am intrigued by it all tbh!

I think I'm going to sign up for Prolific later as a start.

TheCanterburyWhales · 06/01/2020 12:22

For some Appens, like the one offs, there is a generated invoice, for others you have to create one.
They know what hours/minutes you do though. My first week on the new project has just finished and I received an audit showing what time I was on and giving me feedback.

toastytea · 06/01/2020 12:52

@Lougle no I haven't. Once you've done this does it lead to anything? I get multiple emails a day from u test and it's the one I don't actually have any work from.

Reclaiminglife · 06/01/2020 13:21

Thanks @StudentHelp I used your referral for airtime rewards. Looks like a nice easy one. Do you know if it registers Apple Pay purchases?

Does anyone use ZIPZERO? It looks good, a receipt photo one that pays 1p per £1 but only against a specific bill. Can’t really think of a bill that would take part payment but will try to register council tax tonight.

Thanks @otterses for the thread and all contributors.

I’m more of a lurker but I also did pretty good on indeed job spotter last year..it paid for my new bean to cup machine!

Going to focus on Quidco/TCB and eBaying alongside easy ones like air airtime. I get caught out with not cancelling trials and stuff so will keep it simples

Reclaiminglife · 06/01/2020 13:22

Also will be looking at switching bank’s accounts for both me and DH so should be some good money there.
Any recommendations?

StudentHelp · 06/01/2020 13:28

@Reclaiminglife
Thank you! I thought it would have Included Apple Pay but having looked here I don’t think it does, sadly!

anunseemlylovefordustin · 06/01/2020 13:29

I'd like to join in as well :)

Catatemyhomework · 06/01/2020 13:30

I just registered with utest and did a couple of the tests. They are not difficult as you can refer back to the guidance if you have 2 tabs open. They just sent me an email inviting me to do a survey to see if I qualify for a project. I've completed it so I'll wait and see. Could do with a nice long-term project.

Reclaiminglife · 06/01/2020 13:31

Thanks @Studenthelp. I’m nipping to boots in the next hour so will check it. Have you had any cashback at all yet. Do I need to open the app instore or is it all automatic?

Lougle · 06/01/2020 13:35

@Catatemyhomework well done. I got given a survey, too. I've only done the first Academy test, but I've signed up for 3 more.

Lougle · 06/01/2020 13:38

@toastytea I think you have to do the Academy tests first, so that they know you can do it, before you get the real stuff. I was able to do the first one quite quickly, once I had convinced myself that I had found the bug.

Catatemyhomework · 06/01/2020 13:42

I wonder if you got the same one as me @Lougle. I'm sure I won't qualify as it's about crypto currency and I have no idea! Grin. Would be happy to learn though. I'm not sure what you mean about signing up for them @Lougle, when I go onto the Academy page they are all displayed and you can just click on the course content, read it and then do the test.

Lougle · 06/01/2020 13:49

@Catatemyhomework when you've done the course, then done the test, if you go back to the course you'll see "you've unlocked the test case" or similar. If you click sign-up, you fill in a short questionnaire, then you'll get an email invite (sone time later) to do a test case. You then submit your bug report and await approval. There are 5 of those available.

Catatemyhomework · 06/01/2020 13:56

Thanks @Lougle, I'm with you now. I hadn't realised that. I did think the tests were a bit too easy! Grin. It's because I haven't actually done the hard part yet! Back to it I go.

toastytea · 06/01/2020 14:11

@Catatemyhomework @Lougle right I need to look at this properly. Definitely not done academy but getting lots of invites to what I think are screeners for things which is weird. Is the pay any good?
