Thanks to all of you for replying to me. Wow! This is a fast moving thread!
Surveys not being a real job is a possibility, no cab here and quite honestly I don’t trust dwp to answer accurately/honestly plus in the past I’ve found even ASKING About stuff like this they seem to then ASSUME you ARE doing it and earning shed loads!
I have a welfare advisor who recently helped with my PiP claim and she gave me info on “permitted work” too so might check with her.
I’ve just checked and I have an email from her and she’s calling me tomorrow to discuss a few things, this is one of them.
I’m sure there ARE many like me wanting to work but limited by health/circumstances. I’ve said on other threads I wish UK employers were more open to remote/working at home by employers. The tech is available and they can even use software that checks you’re actually working but they seem really averse to it. Which I find strange as it would reduce their overheads too.
The 16 hours/£130 thing I understand I’m just not sure how it would work with this kind of thing when you can’t predict when the money will actually land in your account! That’s what worries me. Fine on weeks when you’re well under the limit but other weeks eg probably end/beginning of month when these companies are doing their accounts I’m worried about a situation where all the work I’ve done that month is all paid in one week? I’m not sure how dwp respond to that.
I have a friend who works in dwp (not in my area) who I could maybe ask but even though she’s a friend of many years I’m even wary of asking her, not least because I don’t wish to put HER in an awkward position.
Matched betting is NOT something I would risk, partly cos I’m crap with numbers but also partly as I have ocd anyway (people with ocd are vulnerable to developing obsessions in other areas and this can include being vulnerable to addiction) plus quite a few relatives are gambling addicts and I am very aware I have a similar personality type and don’t trust myself to stay in control.
I won’t even use bingo apps!
I absolutely get that this works for many people but I think it would be too risky for me.
The reading one a few of you are discussing appeals. I’m a total bookworm and usually have 2-3 books on the go at any one time and I’ll read pretty much any genre with the exception of fantasy (so far? Admittedly I’ve not tried which is a bit prejudiced of me) I’ve also written reviews in the past for local/student publications and online and had good feedback on those. Apparently I’m both descriptive and concise.
Mrswombat my old Bluetooth speaker died and I’ve been seriously considering getting an echo dot to replace it (if I can budget for it) so that might be useful.
So...I’ll have the chat with the advisor tomorrow and see where I’m at then I think
