Let's top up our bank balances for Christmas! It's the October earn £10 a day thread

Saw a few newcomers place marking on the previous thread, so a big welcome to them Smile

Christmas is just around the corner, and I'm sure we all could do with the extra earnings to pay for Christmas and keep us out of the January slump.

I'll copy and paste the first post of the previous thread as soon as I'm at a computer.

Has anyone got any targets in mind? I'm aiming for £20 a day, then hopefully £200 or so of 'extras'.

Anyone who applied for Uolo on appen heard back? I applied yesterday morning and not heard back. Really wanted this one ☹️

rhij86 · 22/10/2019 06:38

@SNISR hope you hear something back soon!

@Graphista welcome. I found this thread last month and it's been amazing. Could you start with just answering surveys etc, would that affect your claims as it's not a job? (I don't know sorry).

Qmee and prolific are a good place to start if you can, it's usually less than a pound per survey but it all adds up - I've earned £51.70 on qmee and £28 on prolific in a month. They can both be done easily on mobiles too.

margaritasbythesea · 22/10/2019 06:56

rhij86 - that's lovely!

Welcome Graphista - there must be many in your situatiin wanting to start up working from home but needing to get a little capital together ti do so without jeopardising their benefits. Could you contact Citizens Advice Bureau with your query? They might be able to advise you on what you can and cant do.

justtheonethen · 22/10/2019 07:01

Welcome @Graphista it's my understanding that any job is permitted on ESA as long as it's under 16 hours and you earn less than £130 ish. So I think any of these options would work for you. Obviously check it out as I'm not an expert!

TheCanterburyWhales · 22/10/2019 07:21

I've been invited to do the qualification test for an Appen that I only applied for on Sunday, fingers crossed this is my time! (I'm the one with 23 active processes who has been applying for everything on Appen since fecking January and not had anything apart from the one off Noyo €5 thing)
Also reapplied to Lionbridge as I am not working for Appen yet I figured...

rhij86 · 22/10/2019 07:22

@thecanteburywhales - good luck!

SNISR · 22/10/2019 07:26

@TheCanterburyWhales ok you definitely deserve to get this project. Fingers crossed and good luck!

dreamyflower · 22/10/2019 07:35

Thanks @piggypokky 😊 I've been on yougov for years but had no surveys in a very long time.

TheCanterburyWhales · 22/10/2019 07:37

Thank you!
I'll add yet again that I love this thread and find you all inspirational! As well as founts of knowledge for us all! Flowers

dreamyflower · 22/10/2019 07:38

Also as I haven't contributed yet I thought I would let you know about a service I use to gain access to free Kindle books before they are published. It is called Netgalley. I've been on it for about four years and haven't paid for a book in all that time. The most recent one I've read was JoJo Moyes new book before it was released this month. I have about twenty books to read at the moment. It is an amazing site and all they ask is that you give an honest review.

dreamyflower · 22/10/2019 07:44

One more question and I am so sorry to keep asking. When people say they have applied for names of projects on Appen for example orlo and Nile. Where are they finding these names? I hunted through jobs yesterday but it just had a list of social media evaluator. Do you need to get accepted on this first and then you can start looking at these names projects?

Moremoneyplease · 22/10/2019 07:47

Thanks @PiggyPokkyFool I'm on YouGov but haven't had much from them.

@dreamyflower I love reading so that site sounds fantastic!

rhij86 · 22/10/2019 07:53

@dreamyflower once you have signed up to appen and agreed to their terms of service/that you will be essentially a self employed contractor for them, you will be able to see a list of projects they currently have on, and then you can apply for whichever you feel fits!

Saw this and thought it looked interesting. Halo

PiggyPokkyFool · 22/10/2019 09:15

@dreamyflower - that isn't right though - you should get them at least once a week and sometimes 4/5 a week.
Log onto your account and make sure your settings are ' surveys as often as possible' and you will get enough to make it worth your while.

rhij86 · 22/10/2019 09:36

@mrswombat very :)

TheLolaMontez · 22/10/2019 10:45

Hi everyone Smile did we figure out in the end what the "tax number" part on clickworker is? Just seen mine is empty and they apparently need that to pay me. Is it just NI?

rhij86 · 22/10/2019 10:48

@thelolamontez I put my NI number in and have been paid fine

TheLolaMontez · 22/10/2019 10:52

Cool, thanks @rhij86 Grin

lynsey91 · 22/10/2019 11:20

I left the tax number blank on Clickworker and have been paid ok

lynsey91 · 22/10/2019 11:21

@dreamyflower I have just tried to join Netgalley but it won't let me unless I am a librarian, bookseller etc.

I used to work in a book shop so I put the name of them but then they wanted other information which I could not give

WomensRightsAreContraversial · 22/10/2019 11:35

@Graphista how about matched betting? It's easy (and risk free if uppity follow the instructions carefully despite the title) and because gambling winnings are tax free you don't have to declare MB income to the taxman, so it might be the same for benefits? There are a few threads on here about it, and team profit newbies group on Facebook is a good resource about it too.

MrsWombat · 22/10/2019 11:52

If there are any lurkers umming about joining Appen and have a smart speaker (Amazon Alexa etc) they are desperate for people as they keep sending me emails! It's $15 for about 30 mins easy work. Referral link

rhij86 · 22/10/2019 11:54

@mrswombat so frustrating as they accepted me onto that project almost a month ago and have not had any instructions through despite contacting them 3 or 4 times through support!

3dogsnorth · 22/10/2019 12:02

Anyone got the remaining payment from isoftstone before I start sending a complaint email?
