Ah! Thanks for the explanation - I think I was aiming a bit too big Blush

I’ll try with lower odds 👍🏻

DragonMamma · 11/11/2019 07:23

Right. So I lost my Coral bet and now have £9.75 in Betfair. Is this what should have happened for my qualifying bet?

Sorry for all the questions - I think I get it but just wanted to get it straight in my head.

May do it on a laptop though - it’s painful using my mobile. Especially on the Oddsmonkey calculator.

MoneyM · 11/11/2019 08:36

Hi @DragonMamma - sounds good! What were the odds and your stake and I can double check? I'm always glad when a bookie bet loses because it means the money goes straight into the exchange instead of having to wait for the withdrawal from the bookie! I'm currently waiting on over £500 clearing from bookies :(

Now move onto the free bet, and you can pick slightly higher odds which give you a liability of up to £9.75 :)

Check your email also, I remember when I started with Coral they gave me a "bet £5 get £5" promo almost straight after I had done the welcome offer!

And yeah, oddsmonkey is much better on laptop - so many more filter options on the matcher.

Sakura7 · 11/11/2019 11:07

I've only done three bookies so far and have now run out of football matches to bet on - is it ok to do horses? In the exchange, do I pick the pink 'lay all' box? There are two other boxes beside it and I've no idea what they are!

DragonMamma · 11/11/2019 14:30

@MoneyM

I’ve attached the screenshots of the bets I placed. I think this is finally starting to sink in - I’ve been meaning to get my head around it.

Why is it taking so long for your money to clear?

What would you recommend doing for cash flow? I can imagine bits of money coming in and out of your current account is a pain? Do you have a dedicated account or credit card you use?

Sorry, me again (I’m getting excited!), is it worth putting more money upfront in to this, in order to get more profits quicker? If so, what would be a decent but not obscene amount? I’m happy to have £50-100 tied up?

MoneyM · 11/11/2019 14:42

@DragonMamma Ah have your coral free bets appeared yet? I'm just wondering as I'm sure the offer is odds over 1.5 but you've placed 1.36? (I'm guessing that's your qualifying bet right?)

Yup, I would put £50 odd into the exchange now and keep £50 for bookie deposits. If the money wins at the bookies, some of them can take up to 7 days to pay out a withdrawal, so annoying! Paddy Power do instant transfers but the worst I've had so far was BetVictor which took a whole 9 days to pay out over £200!

MoneyM · 11/11/2019 14:43

@DragonMamma Oh and yes, I have a separate current account with an £100 arranged overdraft, never failed me :) I've heard a lot of people recommend Monzo, but haven't used it myself.

DragonMamma · 11/11/2019 15:19

@MoneyM

No! The free bets haven’t appeared. I just have fluffed up on that one. Bugger! Do I just move on to a new betting provider?

I’ll take your advice on the £50/50 investment - I have a Monzo account but I need to lift the gambling block on it as it’s on there for some reason.

Really annoyed about Coral - 😑

MoneyM · 11/11/2019 15:24

@DragonMamma Don't dwell on it! You've only lost about 22p and you deffo won't be making the same mistake again :) So yeah, time to move on to other bookies - if I remember rightly skybet have an easy bet £5, get £20 and William Hill is bet £10, get £30 - I would do them first as they are good at sending reload offers most days (especially William Hill!)

DragonMamma · 11/11/2019 15:49

Thanks @MoneyM ! I was feeling rather smug that I’d managed to not fluff it up on my first go.

So presumably I need to do the same thing as above to unlock my free bets and then move on to actually making money?

Janaih · 11/11/2019 15:53

hello sorry to butt in, does anyone know if you get an email from BetFred when you're gubbed? I seem to be stake restricted on most bets and not allowed price boosts at all.

MoneyM · 11/11/2019 15:54

@DragonMamma Yes, exactly the same! Do them one at a time to keep as much of your liability free as possible - pick low odds (but over what the bookie stipulates to unlock the offer!) for your "real money" bet (I usually don't go for odds above 3 to keep my small loss on this bet below £1) and then, for the free bets, pick as high odds as you have available liability to maximise profit.

Fluffycloudland77 · 12/11/2019 12:31

@Janaih usually yes, but if your stake restricted it’s not a good sign.

Janaih · 12/11/2019 15:54

thanks @Fluffycloudland77 :( another one bites the dust

Fluffycloudland77 · 12/11/2019 16:27

Stick to high profile football, odds under 8, bet on your phone as close to the start as you can.

Sakura7 · 12/11/2019 18:45

Stick to high profile football

What's the best approach at times like this when there is no high profile football? Bet on the lower leagues/EFL or on horses?

Fluffycloudland77 · 12/11/2019 19:05

Lower leagues, team profit also says you can get on cricket, tennis, golf, dart etc.

Anything big in the western world basically. So American football/ basket ball is ok, Argentinian football isn’t.

Sakura7 · 12/11/2019 20:02

Perfect, thanks fluffycloud

Fluffycloudland77 · 12/11/2019 20:34

If you look on smarkets it tells you how much money’s been traded on each game, easy to tell which way everyone’s betting.

Freeshavocado · 12/11/2019 20:42

Finally I found a long running matched betting thread SmileI've been looking for one not sure why this has never showed up in search!
I started 4 weeks ago now and have made £250 using team profit so far, struggling a bit this week as there obviously isn't much football on and horse racing odds always seem to be way more than 10% different to the exchange?
I've started the £1 OddsMonkey free trial yesterday, do many people on this thread use it and should I continue the subscription?
So many questions now I have found a thread!

Janaih · 12/11/2019 21:27

@Freeshavocado definitely get oddsmonkey. it's invaluable for matches and of course you get 0% commission at smarkets when you link it. and for more advanced tools you'll use sooner or later.
there will be quiet weeks like this, don't panic.

Sonny13 · 13/11/2019 10:51

Hey team. Any help on getting started regarding e-wallet and loading and withdrawal?

Would you recommend Skrill or Payoneer?

I’m sure both offer prepaid card to go with virtual account. So is it as simple as depositing money in from the card and withdrawals when required back to the Payoneer account as example.

Is there hidden translation costs with these wallets?

I was on my Paddy power account and noticed in the deposit section only Skrill (also PayPal) was one of the methods but no Payoneer?

Freeshavocado · 13/11/2019 13:15

I use revolut (already had the account for holiday savings) which I would recommend as it is just a visa debit card so no restrictions with any bookies (I'm sure I've seen some that don't accept skrill deposits to get a free bet) and the app is dead easy to use, you can also order an actual card too if you want to use it for eg a holiday in future.

Sakura7 · 13/11/2019 14:18

I use Revolut as well and find it great.
