Also i have now had an offer from the pools - bet £10 on man u and get a free £10 bet. But if I use this and lay it on smarkets does that mean I can't cash out the GG lay without cashing out this one? Thanks. Have learned a lot from reading this thread though a fair bit goes over my head!

ineedmoresleepnow · 30/09/2019 14:12

Have done some more reading - I get it now - if I had laid for first goal I would have locked in profit for the ARB. The way I did it is risking a small loss for a potential larger gain!
Every time I think I understand it all my head goes but what if!

Fluffycloudland77 · 30/09/2019 14:25

The pools are offering a free £10 bet no deposit for new customers.

My first question as a complete newbie.

I signed up to William Hill today to place my trigger bet. I’ve backed Man Utd to win tonight at odds of 2.35 and placed the lay on exchange at 2.46. This has a QL of about 74p and then gives me £30 free bets for which I’ll follow the usual process.

Have just noticed on the WH website that this match is a Golden Goal match, whereby if your team scores first but then loses or draws you get £25.

So , I’m assuming that I want Man Utd to score first and then draw or lose so that I actually make a profit on my qualifying bet - which would be a blooming bonus! Or have I worked that out wrong and I need to be hoping for an alternative outcome? If so, please explain for me.

Got a bit of a head cold and just can’t seem to fathom the mental energy to keep trying to work out if I’m right or not.

Thanks!

Take a read of this.

Furries · 30/09/2019 18:58

@Fluffy - many thanks, much appreciated. I will definitely keep an eye on the TP page in case I come across this again.

Don’t think it will help me calculate my situation this time as I wasn’t even looking out for Golden Goals, was simply following the instructions (VERY slowly and VERY carefully!) for signing up with WH and placing my first ever trigger bet with them for a simple Man Utd win (and a simple lay against a Man Utd win on the exchange).

I did all that this morning and just happened to spot the Golden Goal info this afternoon.

I shall just wait and see what the outcome is!

MatchyMatch · 30/09/2019 22:12

Tesla I did that Bet365 offer - lost £4.70 as expected but credited with £100 free bet very quickly, minutes after the match ended. I'll do my free bet in the morning when I'm fresh-faced but all being well that should be around £70 profit for very little effort! Which would make around £300 profit in my first two weeks.

TeslaGirls · 30/09/2019 22:38

Thanks Matchy, I think I'll have to do 2 £50 bets in order to keep the liability down, but I've had a play with numbers and it should still work out around £70 profit for the two bets. That should take me to around £180 I think, for the past 2 weeks. These next two weeks are very tight financially so I'll have to withdraw my money from betfair and then start again properly towards the end of the month Smile

Furries · 30/09/2019 23:06

Well, never thought I’d be so interested in the progress of a football match, especially as I only started Sunday and this was my third qualifying bet - on which I’ve made a profit!!!!

Lost at bookies and won on exchange. But my backed team at the bookies was the golden goal team (which I didn’t even realise when I placed the bet) so I’ve also won that and got my stake back.

Complete fluke, but a very nice surprise indeed. Now need to get some good sleep so that tomorrow I can decide what to place my free bets on.

TeslaGirls · 30/09/2019 23:09

Well done Furries nice fluke Grin

Coffeeandchocolate9 · 01/10/2019 12:16

Well done furries! I do love golden goal it's one of my favourite offers!

BarrenFieldofFucks · 01/10/2019 15:53

Hi all! Am just starting out. I dipped my toe in the water a year or two ago but never quite got the hang of it. A debt I could do with shifting is a new motivator though so here I am again 😂 annoyingly the fact I signed up a few years ago means I don't get some of the new customer offers, but will work my way through.

I placed a bet with William hill earlier and my free bets aren't showing up yet, which is annoying 🤔

pinkroseapp · 01/10/2019 19:32

WH’s free bets should be credited straight away. Check your bet list, should be there. ie, click on odds to place a bet, then click the bet slip, should be showing in there.

Furries · 01/10/2019 19:38

Thanks Tesla and Coffee - a very nice fluke indeed and will keep my eyes peeled in the future for golden goals!

TeslaGirls · 01/10/2019 22:59

Oh my, that was a very tense day Shock

I signed up for the Bet365 offer a DVD deposited £100 as requested - which in itself was scary as I absolutely cannot afford to lose any money right now. To that end, I decided to spread the risk and place 2 x £50 bets instead of 1 x £100 - it was only after I backed and layer that I wondered if that would still qualify for the free £100. Cue me biting my nails all day - fortunately it did qualify and my £100 bet credits have already been credited, plus I have most of my £100 back. That'll teach me to not go rogue in future Grin

CuteOrangeElephant · 01/10/2019 23:26

I decided to try this today and managed to cock up on my qualifying bet for Coral Grin .

I put the back bet on one thing and the lay bet on another. I only discovered after I reviewed my bets.

Luckily I think I placed the free betts right, so it will be a reduction in profits rather than a loss of money. I feel pretty stupid.

Also may be I should have stuck with football rather than horse racing. I think I did it correctly... in Coral it says "Win or each way". Is that correct? I laid against the horse winning on Betfair.

watermelongin · 02/10/2019 00:26

Hi there, I've done this for two weeks. I've made a couple of silly mistakes (e.g. in-play matches market got cancelled because a player got red card. So it's better to place bet after half time...)

SO far I've made around £600. Quite happy with it! But I could see that it'll be getting harder when I am finishing with most of the welcome offers. Weekends are the most busy times!

And I absolutely agree avoiding casino offers! Free spins with no wagering are fine though.

SachaStark · 02/10/2019 18:56

Evening everyone, I’m a new starter today! Can I please ask you a daft beginner question?

I’ve made my £5 first bet with Coral, and the lay bet on Betfair.

When am I supposed to then place the 4x£5 free bets from Coral? Am I supposed to do it:

a) for the same exact sports event for which I’ve made my £5 trigger bet?

b) after the £5 trigger bet has completely settled?

I can’t figure it out from the Team Profit walkthroughs and videos, and the student guide seems to imply that you should wait until after the trigger bet has completely settled.

Cheers!

Fluffycloudland77 · 02/10/2019 20:39

When you login is the bet showing as useable? If it is you can use it but it makes you look like a matched bettor if you use it straight away. There will be a football match this weekend you can use it on that you’ll blend in on.

CuteOrangeElephant · 02/10/2019 20:54

@SachaStark I think you are meant to go for odds higher than 1.5 for the qualifying bet, and then at least 4.0 for the free bets if that makes sense.

I just completed the Coral offer and won 80 pounds, with 14ish pound profit in total. I've discovered that the downside is that they take a long time to pay out...

MatchyMatch · 02/10/2019 21:24

Question: what do the bookies care whether you are a matched better? Say with Coral, I'm placing a bet on their site, I'll either win or lose - same as anyone else. I know I won't really win or lose, I have a guaranteed profit (or small loss) but from Corals POV what difference does it make? Is it because I'm only betting the initial bet to get the free bets? Surely 1000's of people do that everyday, not because they are matched betting but because it's a tempting offer (if you are a gambler) so how am I different from them?

Fluffycloudland77 · 02/10/2019 21:33

They call it gubbing. If you take too many offers or pick really close matches you can get restricted & that stops you taking part in free bets. If they really want to hurt you they can restrict your stake sizes to pennies.

Smarkets is better for laying, I think coral or paddy own betfair. 0% commission for oddsmonkey premium members & it’s all integrated so you just click lay.

Matchbook odds are good, no idea if their owned by another bookie.

BarrenFieldofFucks · 02/10/2019 21:59

GAH, in the time it took me to place a couple of free bets the lay odds on the event shifted. What do I do? Do I bet at the different odds, or wait till closer and see if they shift?

Fluffycloudland77 · 02/10/2019 22:01

How far away is the event?

BarrenFieldofFucks · 02/10/2019 22:05

Tomorrow afternoon. Bet at 5.5, lay odds are now 6.6

The event isn't even showing on the oddsmatcher any more, which is v odd!
