getting started with acca. much more time consuming to get the bonus!

A question from a newbie!

I have just completed my first qualifying bet with Coral in order to get the £20 free bet. A grand total of £3.08 profit on there - do I withdraw that or leave it in the float?

MorrisZapp · 24/09/2019 12:13

Aargh! I'm champing at the bit to get started but betfair won't verify my account. It asked me to upload my passport which I have done, but they haven't verified me two days later despite saying it takes max 24 hours.

Any ideas?

fromdownwest · 24/09/2019 12:44

@TeslaGirls

Are you saying that your Coral bet has won, and you made £3.08 on that, therefore your Exchange bet lost?

pinkroseapp · 24/09/2019 18:18

Just finished the trigger bet on Carol and Skybet. Got £20 free bet from each. I have just noticed the free bet from Skybet (2 x £10 bets) is valid for 1 year!

TeslaGirls · 25/09/2019 09:11

@fromdownwest yes, but I've realised that I prefer my back bets to lose so that I can build up my betfair account! I think that's the right way round.

I've completed a few more offers now, think my profit after 4 days is around £40, which isn't too bad as I have to wait for bets to be settled before placing another - limited cash flow Blush

fromdownwest · 25/09/2019 14:48

That is correct, the more in betfair the higher odds that you can lay, which results in greater profit extraction.

It does eventually click, at the start its a little confusing wanting your 8-1 bet to lose!

OokSaidTheLibrarian · 26/09/2019 14:03

I'm hoping you all can help me out. I am new to this and have read a lot of guides on oddsmonkey and team profit. I went to place my first trigger bet with WH, which was fine but when i went to place my lay bet on betfair using oddsmatcher there was an error and the lay bet was placed 3 times. I have spoken to betfair but they cannot be voided as they have been matched. So I tried to cash them out and now i have 3 lay bets and 1 back bet with betfair (see pic). What do i do now? Do those bets just effectively cancel each other out now? Is the back bet that was automatically placed enough to cover the other 3. Ive got a bit confused and im not sure how to recover the situation from here, so i dont loose a load of money over this.

Yes you’ve cashed out the laybets which auto places a back bet which covers all of them. You need to re lay to cover your back bet. You’ve only lost a few pence.

Can I suggest in future placing bets on bigger events- a bet 2 days in advance is pretty obscure on Scottish championship football

TeslaGirls · 26/09/2019 23:30

I have another question - you're all so knowledgeable Grin

I am tracking profit and loss on the profit accumulator spreadsheet, but as someone who is very new to spreadsheets, and even newer to matched betting - I'm getting very confused.

For example. I deposit £10 with a bookie to place a back bet. That loses 0.25p but I qualify for a free £20 bet - which loses but as I have a lay bet I am in profit by £17 - so the oddsmatcher calculator tells me.

Is that £17 inclusive of the initial £10 I deposited - so really £27 - £10 giving the £17? Or is it £17 - the initial £10 so only £7 profit, which is still good but not as good!

Coffeeandchocolate9 · 26/09/2019 23:38

@TeslaGirls what helped me get my head around it was to get a calculator and play with the figures until I could see what came from where. I think it's likely that the £17 is your profit from the free bet; £7 from a £20 free bet would be very low indeed.

If you backed and laid your first £10 bet correctly you haven't lost that tenner, only 25p of it.

TeslaGirls · 26/09/2019 23:47

Thanks @coffeeandchocolate9, it's just dawned on me - that £10 that I've lost on the back bet (- the 0.25p) I've actually won on the lay bet, so my bet fair account rises. How on earth I've made any money thus far is a minor miracle when I actually have no understanding of how it works - I literally just follow the instructions word for word Grin

Coffeeandchocolate9 · 27/09/2019 12:33

That's right Smile
Yes following the instructions exactly is the way Smile I got cocky and thought I'd found additional loopholes once or twice - of course, I inevitably hadn't!

fromdownwest · 27/09/2019 13:09

When you start you fumble your way through and hope you are right, then something just clicks and it makes sense!

Follow the system
Don't try to be clever
and STAY AWAY FROM CASINO welcome offers

That it my tips

Doseydots · 27/09/2019 14:07

I have started Matchedbetting this month. I too am just following the TP site word for word. I don’t attempt to make sense of it. I have made £200 so far. Haven’t a clue how but something is working!!

Every morning I go into Smarkets, the website I placed my previous days bet on and check my monzo balance. I add it all up in a notebook and keep track of my profit that way.

OokSaidTheLibrarian · 27/09/2019 19:28

@RatherBeAScummerThanASkate Thanks. I was using oddsmatcher to find something to be on,but being new I didn't know what all the bet types meant, so such with the one I knew. Any hints as to how to pick better bets?

Doseydots · 27/09/2019 19:53

I just use what is recommended on team profit. What they suggest for the trigger bet I have been using for my free bets. Though I will start and venture to higher odds. I have just been so careful in case I did something wrong!

RatherBeAScummerThanASkate · 27/09/2019 21:46

Stick to premiership or English championship football- if you look at the matches on Betfair you can see how
Much has been traded- I didn’t check Betfair but the match you bet on only had 3k trades compared with (so far) 250k on tomorrow’s Liverpool match on Smarkets Betting on obscure matches can make you stick out as a mb particularly if you’re betting on high odds with a close match

Furries · 29/09/2019 15:17

I’ve started today having read the TP guides and watched their videos.

I don’t completely understand what I’m doing, but have made sure that I follow each step slowly and have double checked everything before placing my first bets on my first site. Will hopefully be making almost £14 profit from first free bet so fingers crossed!!

Have read through this thread and 70% of all the terminology etc has gone straight over my head, but am hoping that it will start to make sense the more I do. So, if you see me in the future asking daft questions then please bear with me!!

Doseydots · 29/09/2019 17:58

Ask away. I am still learning too. Judy follow the steps on TP and you will be ok.

Doseydots · 29/09/2019 17:59

Just not Judy !

MatchyMatch · 29/09/2019 20:54

I screwed up today. I guess I was in a rush but I still don't really know what happened. I placed a £10 qualifying bet with BetUk and lay with Smarkets. When I checked back later my team had won, so my liability was gone from Smarkets - fine but when I went over to BetUk my £10 deposit was still showing and there was no indication that I've ever made a bet :( I must've failed to confirm it or something but I was sure I had. Luckily it was low odds and I've only lost £10 liability but still cross with myself.

TeslaGirls · 30/09/2019 12:00

Oh Matchy that's my nightmare - I get myself into such a state that I have to treble check everything and risk odds changing while I'm checking Blush

I'm still working my way through the signup offers - has anyone done the bet365 bet £100 get a free £100 bet for £70 profit? It seems like such a lot to bet, and I'm still worried that I'll mess it up as I can't afford to lose £100!

MatchyMatch · 30/09/2019 12:47

I've just gone for that one Tesla. It's pretty special! I went for tonight's Man U V Arsenal game which came up with a good match - I should lose £4.80 which seems ok for a £100 bet. Hope it all works out! I've taken a screenshot of the confirmed bet because I'm paranoid after yesterday...

ineedmoresleepnow · 30/09/2019 13:36

Hi. Just joining this thread - started matched betting last week. Completed the first week of tp and have done a few extra offers I have had from those bookies. But thought I would have a go at the GG on wh tonight. I only have smarkets as Betfair won't open me an account as I apparently already have one although they can't find one 🙄.
So I have bet on man u and layed them too (on match not first goal). Am I right that if they don't score 1st it's a small loss. If they do score first it's either take the chance they lose and win £25, or if they win make a small loss. Or trade out to make a win? What does lock in mean?
