I pretty glad I didn't get it as I smash them for 2up and don't want to lose that account! But I'm not sure I would have passed up the freebets so I'm glad I didn't have the choice.

Cheltenham hasn't been as good as I hoped. I'll be counting up tonight for a total profit but I'm not expecting more than £200.

FreckledLeopard · 16/03/2018 13:38

This is a super profitable week! Up around £400 or so. If only all weeks were like this. Don't know if I'll be hit with the gubbing stick or not - there doesn't seem to be much rhyme or reason.

MissFitton · 16/03/2018 14:40

mama - I'm with you in the sense that I'm up more than I would normally be but I've not gone overboard. I think for next year I'll lay the ground with more horse betting in the run up and get confident with doing EW etc etc.

OP posts:
mamahanji · 16/03/2018 15:15

That's exactly my plan. I intend to move on to learn EW but I've thrown myself into casino offers instead and I like my comfort zone. I've been putting it off for a few months now! But people send to do really well off high 5 and extra places so I need to just do it. I do pretty much all my bet club bets on horses for paddy so they are used to me on the horses there. William hill I mainly do casinos there so will start introducing horse bets and build up. Hopefully the grand national will be good too

noodleaddict · 16/03/2018 21:55

I've only just started using smarkets (only used Betfair previously) and have noticed that some of my bets are being 'reduced' - by a few pence. What is this and why is it happening?

noodleaddict · 16/03/2018 22:02

Whoops that sounded a bit abrupt sorry!

titchy · 17/03/2018 13:05

Can you give an example noodle? Is it the commission? A rule 4 reduction?

noodleaddict · 17/03/2018 20:35

Hi titchy I'm not sure what a rule 4 reduction is. Its not commission as I've got the 0% offer. It's under my account summary where it has bets placed, fully matched etc. A few say bet reduced, it's say £0.25 or £0.32. It changes my exposure but not my balance. When I win the (layed) bet I still get back the same amount I bet. Is it something to do with odds changing?

titchy · 17/03/2018 23:10

Sounds like a rule 4 - once you've backed or layed a bet the odds won't change, but if a horse subsequently doesn't run then the odds are reduced by the amount that particular horse affected the odds of the other runners. Same amount applied to both bookie and exchange so overall you shouldn't be affected.

ScreamitDreamit · 18/03/2018 14:47

hoping someone here can help me as you all seem to know what your doing!

Thought I'd give MB a go and have followed the profit accumulator!

So i did the qualifying bet and the free bet with Coral and that seems to be going okay so far :)

But i then thought I'd try the same steps with William Hill, so I did a qualifying bet, all fine... except i deposited it using Paypal and looking in T&C's you have to do card deposit so no free bet for me!! :(

Was just wondering if I can 'try again' with william hill? ie deposit another £10 using card deposit or do you think the free bet oppurtunity only applies to your first bet?

any advice would be amazing :)

MissFitton · 18/03/2018 15:06

Hi Screamit - I suspect you won't be able to get a free bet with WH, you could give it a go or try their live chat - they're usually very helpful. Good luck!

I've had a good weekend. A small run of luck on casino bonus' means I've doubled this weeks total. I'll miss Cheltenham though....Grin

ScreamitDreamit · 18/03/2018 15:12

thanks so much MissFitton, ill message them on WH and see what to say :)

As a newbie is it best I work my way through all the sign up deals first?

panickingpickle · 18/03/2018 17:03

100% start with sign up offers before going into anything else. Live chat is usually very helpful to new customers as they want to take all your money so hopefully they give you your free bet.

MissFitton · 18/03/2018 19:12

Screamit - yes to the sign up offers although you'll start getting other offers too once you've done a couple of bets with the bookies. I'm nearly a year in and have only got around to just over a third of the sign ups - still enough to keep me busy!

Hope you got your WH bet Smile

ScreamitDreamit · 18/03/2018 20:24

so i messaged them at WH and they said its all good :) so ive made a new £10 bet and got the £30 free bets!

Had such a crisis earlier on my Coral bets, on betfair it said I had 'lost' and when I checked Coral I had also lost! I paniced thinking i'd done it wrong but turns out the game went into overtime and coral had updated it too early! phew

so first day in and ive made £12 :)

Hoping its the start of good things. will see how how £30 free bets go this week :)

Thanks for ur help ladies :)

MissFitton · 18/03/2018 21:31

Glad you got it sorted, it's great to start seeing the money rolling in.
Make sure you're recording what you're doing so you keep track of it all. Good luck!

ScreamitDreamit · 18/03/2018 22:31

got an excel spreadsheet all set up :)

Just feel like ive got the hang of things now :) still a little scared to do a bet with a liability of over £100 pounds though :o

NettleTea · 19/03/2018 20:19

celebrating making over £300 on Cheltenham last week. so many good offers. but now Ive got to knuckle down to some less profitable stuff

postitnotes · 20/03/2018 12:23

For those of you who have moved onto casino, do you take up the offers that are emailed to you? Or do you look for promo offers on the websites? I've tried probably a hundred casino offers since I started matched betting but nothing much has ever come of it, and I just lose money on the emailed offers. If I calculate the EV most offers aren't worth it, so where do people find them?

mamahanji · 20/03/2018 13:49

Often the offers they email you aren't positive EV or are high risk. Where the chance of busting out is high. But the more of them you do, the higher the positive EV. You just have to ride out the losses. I usually stick to £10-£20 stake offers or up to £50 if it can be wagered on blackjack.

There are sites that do regular deposit offers like Dunder, casumo, cashmio, Bgo. Virgin games, starspins, monopoly casino all do really good weekly offers of wager £5 on 3 days and then you get a cash prize from a box bonanza. I'm about £250 up this month from box bonanzas on those sites. Grovesnor is another one for great offers and William Hill usually always have free spins and and a bet x get y that has good EV

postitnotes · 20/03/2018 14:50

Thanks @mamahanji that's really helpful, I'm going to check the offers from those sites

DrRanjsRightEyebrow · 20/03/2018 15:55

Remember to check Topcashback before signing up to casino's for the welcome offers. I've made a few hundred just from the cash back sites. Often the cashback is higher than the required qualifying deposit, making it risk free and profitable. Or it just matches, eg Dunder is £50 cashback for a £50 deposit and they have a good welcome bonus to boot. I go for 100% deposit match offers (or 200%). Often bust out but make some big wins to and overall has a +ev. I prefer casino to sportsbook!

mamahanji · 20/03/2018 17:00

I agree. I find sportsbook tedious now and only do it to have a constant income. But I make easily 3x as much on casinos every week.

Topcashback is great. Just withdrew £74.40 from 3 offers done 3 weeks ago.

Make sure you follow the uk blackjack strategy on wizard of odds it oddsmonkey. If the offers are wager £10 I usually do them on a high Rtp slot, any more than that and if it's allowed then I wager on blackjack as the variance is so low and you usually walk away with what you started give or take a few £

HopelesslyHopeful87 · 22/03/2018 12:08

I really want to get into doing this. I need someone to tell me step by step what to read and where to learn.

I've read an ebook off amazon which was a waste of time and didn't really tell me anything I didn't know. I understand what matched betting is I just don't know where to start to make a start.

What do I need to sign up for? I vaguely understand odds and have bet on things before so I know what the sites look like which helps I guess.

So first things first... best tutorials? A whole new email address needed and a separate bank account I can do no problem. What else?

mamahanji · 22/03/2018 14:09

Start with Team Profit. Either choose the £8 £25 or £100 starting guide. Join the Team Profit Facebook group (it is invaluable). They have all the guides you would need for starting and more. I personally use oddsmonkey and find it brilliant so once you have started and got through a good few welcome offers, it is worth looking into joining.

These are just my personal opinions and I am 4 months in but am doing this almost full time I would say, and my profit has reached £4k and a lot of that is thanks to the guys on the team profit Facebook group. They are brilliant.
