One thing I found useful once you get confident with it is to set yourself a daily target to work towards.
I was happily pootling along making about £200 per month but during a snow day last week decided to aim for a target. I've had a lucky week tbf but I'm up £238 so far since the first - focussing on hitting the offers to make a set amount has worked for me! My total now stands as just shy of 3k in 11 months - I hope to double that in the next twelve.

Thank you. I'm going to set aside this evening to have a look at it all again.

Confused2018 · 08/03/2018 08:55

£305 in profit 8 days into the month! Am really hoping to be able to make a bit from Cheltenham next week too. My total profit for last month was £958, I really want to try and beat that this month (though I got lucky with some casino wins so probably won’t) paranoid all the time about being gubbed though, but thankfully 60-70% of my profit atm is from casino I’d say so I’m hoping i’m going under the radar a bit for Sportsbook and can stay there for a while Blush

MissFitton · 08/03/2018 15:58

....and another piece of advice, don't get complacent and forget to lay a £25 horse bet because you got distracted by something else Grin

Oh no missfitton you've done really well though.

That's great confused I'm £120 up after 7 days. Delighted with that.

Can anyone help me? I've just accidentally messed up my free bet and used it on a really low odds outcome. If I lay another bet on the same game that's got a good chance of getting another free bet with a different bookie, will I only need to Kay it once? I THINK I saw something about it up thread but didn't understand. TIA

shortaris1 · 08/03/2018 23:02

Lay it, even!

noodleaddict · 09/03/2018 07:07

You need to lay every bet you make otherwise you risk losing money. You should still make a profit on a low odds bet, it just won't be as much.

shortaris1 · 09/03/2018 07:27

Thanks noodle betting on different outcomes for the same game was something titchy and missfitton* mentioned earlier in the thread, on page 7 but I'm not quite sure how it works.

titchy · 09/03/2018 08:07

It's a useful tactic if you're short on exchange funds as it reduces your liability as only one outcome will happen.

shortaris1 · 09/03/2018 17:13

So how do I do it titxhy Sorry for being thick

shortaris1 · 09/03/2018 17:36

Argh titchy Will the exchange just not let me lay twice or how does the exchange bit work.

titchy · 09/03/2018 17:42

Just lay as normal as you need. It adjusts your liability for you, and yes you can lay as many times as you want. I quite often have several lays on the same outcome on the same event!

shortaris1 · 09/03/2018 18:35

Thanks a lot

vandrew4 · 10/03/2018 18:16

confused which casino offers are you doing? i really need to concentrate on casino. vast majority of what I do is horses but gubbings are a frequent occurrence! On the positive side though, I'm just shy of £45K profit!!

CocoM2017 · 11/03/2018 14:42

Vandrew4 - Just low risk ones from the bookmakers I’m registered with. This week I’ve done William Hill (+ £12) PP (+ £40) Sportsnation (+ £40) these were all ‘Wager £10/ £20/ £50 for 10, 30 free spins or in PP’s instance a £5 free sports bet.

Some casino offers you come back £20 down, you might do a few like that in a row and feel shit, but then the next 3 you do you’ll be £30 up of each of them. It’s all in the EV. It is gambling, can’t really get around it. But I do just as much as those as I do sportsbets and that’s what’s pushing my profits up.

But at £45k profit (in how long may I ask?) you’re not doing too badly on the sports side Wink

mamahanji · 11/03/2018 15:38

45k?! How long have you been doing it? I know people say the offers used to be better years ago and easier to make money. This year has felt challenging so far with the amount of decent offers. Casino offers are the only thing bringing my profit from £500 a month to £1000 a month.

vandrew4 · 12/03/2018 14:26

It'll be 2 years in June I'll have been doing it.Just feel that sports is getting harder so want to expand my horizons!

mamahanji · 12/03/2018 15:36

Vandrew that is amazing. My original target was £200-£300 a month but I've adjusted it to £1k a month now. So 45k in two years is incredible.

Would you say a lot of that has been on horses or no lay accas? Those are pretty much the only thing I don't do. And need to start doing.

noodleaddict · 12/03/2018 16:09

This is a stupid question but how to do the free bet if your horse loses for Cheltenham? Just stake and lay a bet as usual and make a small loss if it wins but get a free bet if it loses? Or bet on several horses in the same race?

titchy · 12/03/2018 16:34

Noodle - underlay it. If it wins your liability is less than it would be if you fully layed - so profit. If it loses your exchange win is less than your back bet - loss, but you have a free bet (lay as normal snr) to come.

Use the risk free bet calculator in OM/PA.

vandrew4 · 12/03/2018 16:38

mama most of it is horses. never really done no lay ACCA's. I can't wrap my head round how it works when it's basically gambling

mamahanji · 12/03/2018 16:56

Vandrew do you mind telling me what horse offers you do regularly and bookies you do then with please? My goal has gone from 'earn enough to cover working 1 day a week' to 'save enough for a mortgage by the time I'm 30'.

DrRanjsRightEyebrow · 12/03/2018 16:59

I didn't know there was a mn thread for matched betting - hi all! I've done most welcome offers and doing casino offers at the mo. Got £936 from Dunder welcome offer with a £10 stake a few weeks ago so got me a bit hooked on doing them all! Will get back to sportsbook after. Trying to decide whether to get stuck into Cheltenham offers though, although my exchange balances aren't massive at the mo.

Seabiscuit1 · 12/03/2018 17:01

Has anyone applied for a mortgage while doing matched betting? Obviously not including winnings as my income but just wondering if the betting counts against you in any way?

mamahanji · 12/03/2018 17:15

Seabiscuit

According to a mortgage advisor, it is gambling and does affect it negatively. I have a separate bank account for MB. So helpful. I just applied online and 3 days later my card was here. Or stop doing it for 3 months before applying.
