ExpatMrs · 08/04/2017 15:59

Just came across a good few MNers talking about it on another thread. I don't even know what it is but from the jist of the convo, there's good money to be made from having a couple of hours a day to do it... I have those hours!!
Can anyone enlighten me please?

Check the T&Cs, fussed

MaidOfStars · 14/04/2017 20:27

fussed minimum odds of 2 to qualify for free bet.

imnottoofussed · 14/04/2017 20:27

It says odds of 2 or higher within 14 day roll over. So I best get doing another bet.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 14/04/2017 20:43

I think on 188 I've bet on odds too low to get my free bets

Remember to still lay your bet though...

AllllGooone · 14/04/2017 21:11

I'm struggling to even find how to lay bets on betfair! I'm following a tutorial that says there's a red button... cannot find!!

imnottoofussed · 14/04/2017 21:11

Yes layed so should only lose around 50p and now placed proper bet and lay at correct odds to get my free bets.

imnottoofussed · 14/04/2017 21:12

Make sure you are on exchange at the top tab then click on the event you are wanting to lay on and you'll see the red and blue

Verticalvenetianblinds · 14/04/2017 21:27

Allgone have u got it on exchange? Easier to do on website rather than app

Patapouf · 14/04/2017 21:35

Hey everyone, I'm a few days in and have had my feee bet on coral. Still waiting for betfred free £30 to be credited though. I want to crack on with more sign up offers now, is there a way to do this without going through oddsmonkey or profitaccumulator? I.e. Is there a free oddsmatcher out there?

WelshMoth · 14/04/2017 21:39

Can I ask about spreadsheets?
How do you keep a track of all this as you go along?

Laughsandgiggles · 14/04/2017 21:43

Pat - if you Google matched bets or free bets there are various websites that will show you free bets without having to sign up for anything.
For instance -
freebets.uk

Laughsandgiggles · 14/04/2017 21:45

Pat - should have added that the downside of doing it that way is that you won't have the use of an oddsmatcher so will have to figure out the good bets to make by checking between the bookie and betfair.

OkeyDokeyPigAndAPokey · 14/04/2017 21:45

Seriously newbie question. If a free bet has to be at 'odds of evens or greater', what does that actually mean?

OkeyDokeyPigAndAPokey · 14/04/2017 21:49

Sorry, it means 2 or above - doh!!!!!!!

Laughsandgiggles · 14/04/2017 21:59

Welshmoth - I got a spreadsheet online but I've had to redo a lot of the formulas to get it to work properly. There are various ones available to download depending on how detailed you want it.

MaidOfStars · 14/04/2017 22:22

I am using the Ultimatcher spreadsheet. It's seriously good. Loads of automatic calculations and macro shizz.

Verticalvenetianblinds · 14/04/2017 22:25

I thought I was getting it, but I've just made a rookie error of not reading the liability properly.
So I've put my £30 free William hill bets on a horse with odds of 13. Go to do betfair lay and liability is 333! Which I can't cover.
Would you
A- pencil that up to being crap at reading and pray the horse wins
B- put a lay on for less so liability is 100
C- contact William hill customer services to ask if they'd let me only put £10 on and 'refund' the other 2 free £10 bets?

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 14/04/2017 22:29

I am using the Ultimatcher spreadsheet

I really want to but don't have excel, and apparently it doesn't play very nicely with OpenOffice / Google sheets...

MaidOfStars · 14/04/2017 22:30

B. Lay what you can. You'll get that stake value back at minimum.

Laughsandgiggles · 14/04/2017 22:31

Maid - that spreadsheet looks interesting. Might have a proper look through it tomorrow. I love a good spreadsheet

MaidOfStars · 14/04/2017 22:31

And nicely vertical, that's a couple of big errors in a couple of days. Perhaps take a little more time to process what you're doing? SmileFlowers

edengarden123 · 14/04/2017 22:44

Man out to do my very first qualifying bet and it's saying I'm going to be in profit ... should I do this? Every guide I read said first qualifying bet would be a loss....

Babyiwantabump · 14/04/2017 22:46

Vertical are you using any kind of matching software?

HeavenlyEyes · 14/04/2017 22:49

Vertical - those odds are way too high. You want odds between 4 and 8.

CalmItKermitt · 14/04/2017 22:54

Yeah vertical that's a bummer but I agree with Maid.

As I've said before, I'm SO glad I've had time to study it properly before diving in. And I definitely WOULD have dived in - and doubtless made loads of mistakes!

I've been practising loads, doing pretend bets/lays, getting used to flicking between sites and just generally getting familiar with everything and it's a huge help x
