Still going strong here at bot watch HQ on MN!

Previous thread here

Botwatch on Wordpress and on Facebook

Timeless Vie on Wordpress and on Facebook

Eyespeying's Blog aka #manhun, even if he's been banned by MNHQ

Hommetepreneur on Facebook

We have our own regularly returning bots.

Glossary:

Bots: our affectionate name for victims of the MLM racket

MLM: Multi-level Marketing schemes - essentially pyramid schemes that are just legal because you sell a product. Reliant upon constant recruitment despite there not being enough people in the world to go beyond about 12 levels if everyone recruited 6.

Downline/Upline: the people you recruited and those who recruited you (going up and down the pyramid inverted funnel)

Timeless Vie: Parody of MLM schemes (though you might spot one in particular) that also carries out fearless investigative work. Flogging the amazing skinny lard and now carbonated lard. The arsenic is not the evil Victorian stuff. #TeamDannii #gettingalardon

Hommetrepreneur: also excellent parody site focussing on the menz

BotWatch: Rather more serious, keeps an eye on what the Bots are claiming next, particularly in reference to health and income claims. Also fearless.

Inverted Funnel: Timeless Vie is NOT a pyramid - it's an inverted Funnel, OK?

Eyes: Our former member Eyespying who knows LOTS about MLM schemes. He's still our very own #manhun.

Was she well off or with lots of friends and family? Previously that is.

SSDGM · 14/01/2017 19:42

Not that I know of. Single mum, frustrated with her working hours. Textbook.

littlejeopardy · 14/01/2017 20:08

Hey, I'm another long time lurker on this thread.

I just turned down an invitation to a 'girlie night' hosted by a friend whose work colleague would come and teach us all to do facials with Temple Spa products. I ummd and arrd over how to reply and then tonight I just rang her and thanked her for the invite but explained I am boycotting MLMs and why. We had a great conversation about it and she said she will be on the look out if her friend tries to recruit anyone.

Feel proud of myself because I hate any kind of confrontation or appearing to be awkward.

cozietoesie · 14/01/2017 23:13

Actually, when I last looked at that firm they were a (expensive) party planning outfit which means that you wouldn't have a direct benefit from recruiting anyone - except that you'd make your usual hefty commission from any sales at parties they agreed to host for you.

They may have changed though. Some of these firms 'mix their model' so much that it's difficult to tell. It would also, sadly, put your friend in the frame for an approach from one of the more traditional outfits. Either way, you were right to warn her.

littlejeopardy · 15/01/2017 07:23

Oops, I only did a quick Google on them and they just seemed to fit the bill.

Bur your right, at least she is aware of mlm style pitfalls.

FL have a KIckstart 2017 training day today so prepare for an overdose of eeeeeks, whoops and huns.

850+ bots at £?? per head, buying their own coffee, giving up their Sundays for free, traveling across the country to attend at their own expense....... mugs.

DoratheExplorer17 · 15/01/2017 09:39

The tickets were £25 for today I think. Plus you pay an extra £1 for a workbook. They also have a team spirit award. People take flags, dress with a theme, chant their team name and wear something supply like wigs or hats. Just to try and create an atmosphere!!

BSintolerant · 15/01/2017 09:49

FL will be making an awful lot of money out of their bots today. They'll sell a lot of training tools too.

Has anyone here (lurking or otherwise) been to one of these events?

DoratheExplorer17 · 15/01/2017 09:56

I have. It's actually only one team there today. Number one über bot. Last weekend was the ex number one's training day. Some people go to both though. Not sure how that works?

BSintolerant · 15/01/2017 10:57

Are the training days as culty and repetitive as they appear on the recordings?

Spongebobette · 15/01/2017 11:36

Looks like around 1000 people are there.

25 quid each = 25k

Plus the captive audience to sell 'tools' to..

Not bad eh.

Spongebobette · 15/01/2017 11:40

Hang on, you have to pay for a ticket (non refundable) to the global rally?

Only if you don't qualify

cozietoesie · 15/01/2017 12:44

But how do you 'qualify', Dora? Ask yourself that. Wink

CaveMum · 15/01/2017 12:50

Just to give a heads up, there's a new MLM heading our way! A friend of mine in Australia who has been banging on about "her" cleanse programme for about 2 years has just posted the following on Facebook (and tagged me in it despite me being 6 months pregnant and obviously not in the market for weight loss products!)

"ITS TIME!!!

🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Shouting out to my UK friends who are looking to improve their health and wellbeing and even start a home based business!

We can now announce the UK is about to launch!

If you'd like the opportunity to be involved in a ground breaking opportunity at a pre launch stage of an ENTIRE COUNTRY AND CONTINENT then get in touch.

We have THE best training and support & .....a proven track record

Pre- enrolment placement opens JANUARY 16th!

If you want to change your body AND you want to change your life - DO NOT MISS THIS 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

Can't wait to hear from you!"

Only thing is she never seems to mention the name of the company/products! It's like you HAVE to ask so that they can then reel you in.

I'll admit she does look fantastic and has lost a good deal of weight, but I'm getting fed up of all her #bossbabe affirmations!

cozietoesie · 15/01/2017 12:55

Well of course they want you to contact them 'personally'. It's through those personal contacts - especially the F2F 'over coffees' - that they can really reel people in through social niceties.

CaveMum · 15/01/2017 13:07

Oh do t get me wrong, I'm not falling for it. Just slightly bemused that she never actually mentions the name of the products (it's some kind of weight loss programme involving cleanses and fixed menus) which you would think would be a key part of promotion!

Spongebobette · 15/01/2017 13:16

Yeah but if she mentioned the name her FB friends might google it and inform themselves before she has a chance to love bomb them at a F2F!

cozietoesie · 15/01/2017 13:19

She may have changed MLMs, Cave. They seem to in some cases.

CaveMum · 15/01/2017 13:23

Ahh, good points! I will watch her updates with interest Wink

MyCatsHateMLMtoo · 15/01/2017 15:52

Cave just put a message on asking "which MLM company is it, hun"?

Spongebobette · 15/01/2017 16:08

Watching footage from the event in Birmingham

It's absolutely clear that the whole thing is designed to keep adherents faithful and locked in. Cheap psychological tricks to suspend disbelief and they are all paying for it! On a Sunday!!
Sickening

fitgirl26 · 15/01/2017 18:37

Ok so the ex LTW now Mighty Buyer TeamUCan2 crowd are going orgasmic over a thing called a Helo which appears to be a Fitbit on speed - apparently it can read your blood sugar and your mood Hmm
There's Millionaire Club meetings galore and one couple have been given a Lamborghini. The whole thing reeks of MLM more than a rotting fish but I can't get to grips with how this device is going to be sold via MLM and obviously all the posts are smoke and mirrors and PM me (one thing on their favour - they don't go overboard on the huns).
Can anyone help a nosey one out here?

minimonkey11 · 15/01/2017 19:01

Hi i am new here but my really quite intelligent friend has become completely obsessed with this ariix thing. She keeps saying #awesome and talking like she's joined a cult. What actually is this thing and have i lost her forever?? Obv i'm not asking her for fear of becoming a foot soldier. Thanks all

minimonkey11 · 15/01/2017 19:51

Ok i have read a bit more of these threads and realise everything i thought about what she's peddling is true. I feel sad for her. But she is truly sucked in.
