Still going strong here at bot watch HQ on MN!

Previous thread here

Botwatch on Wordpress and on Facebook

Timeless Vie on Wordpress and on Facebook

Eyespeying's Blog aka #manhun, even if he's been banned by MNHQ

Hommetepreneur on Facebook

We have our own regularly returning bots.

Glossary:

Bots: our affectionate name for victims of the MLM racket

MLM: Multi-level Marketing schemes - essentially pyramid schemes that are just legal because you sell a product. Reliant upon constant recruitment despite there not being enough people in the world to go beyond about 12 levels if everyone recruited 6.

Downline/Upline: the people you recruited and those who recruited you (going up and down the pyramid inverted funnel)

Timeless Vie: Parody of MLM schemes (though you might spot one in particular) that also carries out fearless investigative work. Flogging the amazing skinny lard and now carbonated lard. The arsenic is not the evil Victorian stuff. #TeamDannii #gettingalardon

Hommetrepreneur: also excellent parody site focussing on the menz

BotWatch: Rather more serious, keeps an eye on what the Bots are claiming next, particularly in reference to health and income claims. Also fearless.

Inverted Funnel: Timeless Vie is NOT a pyramid - it's an inverted Funnel, OK?

Eyes: Our former member Eyespying who knows LOTS about MLM schemes. He's still our very own #manhun.

Here is a Wall Street Journal article about the takeover.

$400M revenue (so, say, $200M profit) equals a $1billion value... Hmm

How the fuck does that work?

And do Coty intend to use this god awful business model to promote (some of) their other brands?

Spongebobette · 12/01/2017 12:48

The MLM model must seem v attractive to companies; no overheads in terms of shops, outlets, staff costs, liabilities, advertising, risk.

Tupperwarelid · 12/01/2017 19:21

Can anyone explain the FL global rally logistics to me? A well known ex castle living bot's brother is on his fb page booking flights to Dubai. I stupidly assumed that if you were a qualifier and cheque winner flights, hotels etc would be paid for. Is that not the case?

Toobusytowee · 12/01/2017 20:36

If you don't qualify for global rally you can pay to go yourself. Many decide to do that and pretend they are more successful than they really are.

Also, there are differing levels of qualification so maybe someone at the bottom level has to get their own tickets.

DoratheExplorer17 · 12/01/2017 20:52

Yes your flights and hotels are paid for. You are given an allowance to spend and you book the flights either through head office on the flights that they list, or you can book your own and head office reimburse you. People do this if they want to extend their stay for extra nights. Head office pay for the 7 nights for you, but many pay for extra nights to have a holiday with their family

keeptheaspidistra · 12/01/2017 20:52

Hellllooooo. Just checking in peeps.
I've got a lot to catch up on.
Follow TV on FB; was very interested in the post re EU banned ingredients. FLBO I know had their first ever day off the daily relentless FB spamming since joining FL. Not a single meme, inspirational quote or #blessed. Nothing. Very strange. She returned the next day with a sudden flash sale 24hrs only EXCEPT this time everyone wasn't added to a public group for her online party spamming as per usual it was suddenly all private and you had to request to join (no thank you!). And then when the amazing limited 24hr only sale finished it was followed immediately by 24hrs of special offers again in the secret group only. My suspicious mind thought someone had a lot of soon to be banned products to shift 😢

cozietoesie · 12/01/2017 21:07

But presumably, products which were soon to be banned wouldn't any longer be sold?

ScuttlbuttHarpy · 12/01/2017 21:09

If I see one more video of someone putting mascara on to show how amazing their £20 bottle of mascara is, I might scream....its mascara ffs!! I might do my own video, using the cheapest decent mascara I can find, and say look £2.50 mascara works like any other mascara, thickens, lengthens and darkens lashes just like every other mascara your all trying to pedal and guess what I can buy more make-up with the change.

DoratheExplorer17 · 12/01/2017 21:17

I've tried that mascara and I wasn't impressed. I get better lashes using Aldi 3D Lash mascara for £2.49 [grin😂

ScuttlbuttHarpy · 12/01/2017 21:38

Ooooohhhhh that one would be perfect :)

keeptheaspidistra · 12/01/2017 21:39

I wish I could share the photos of a younique lady I know. She looks so much better without younique makeup. The foundation makes her look really wrinkly, her eyebrows look drawn on with crayola and the mascara... 😷 It looks gross and clumpy. She clearly has no idea about makeup or its application but she paid £69 for a starter kit so now she's an entrepreneur, a make up artist and inspirational guru.

Mrsemcgregor · 13/01/2017 10:24

I hope you don't mind me asking in this thread....
One of my friends has clearly started an MLM but her posts are so vague about where her "amazing" products are coming from or what company are giving her this "uniquely opportunity", it's all "inbox me hun".

So far she has posted a whitening toothpaste and 'amazing curling mascara'.

She seems to get lots of comments about how great the products are with pictures, presumably from other bots.

Anyone got any ideas what she's into, if I ask I worry she will evangelise to me!

Spongebobette · 13/01/2017 10:35

Possibly Nuskin? Or Forever Living, they do whitening toothpaste and make up

Spongebobette · 13/01/2017 10:36

If you look at the profiles of the people liking her posts you might find some clues 😉

Mrsemcgregor · 13/01/2017 10:59

After some google detective work I have found a match for the toothpaste packaging. It's Nuskin, must say I have a few FL bots and more than a few younique, this is the first time I have come across Nuskin. They seem to be all over each other's posts liking and commenting, making it look legit.

cozietoesie · 13/01/2017 11:32

Oh Yes. You attempt to create 'buzz' - 'excitement' etc etc. It only takes a minute for the other people to do.

Spongebobette · 13/01/2017 12:36

The level of excitement and buzz and the number of eeeeeks and waaaahs and emoticons in their posts are very wearing.

cozietoesie · 13/01/2017 12:41

It's how they've been taught to operate, sadly. A 'normal' post would probably be seen as ......sulky without all the bits added on. After a short while.

Spongebobette · 13/01/2017 13:19

Wouldn't it be refreshing to see a post like this:

I am selling makeup by Younique/ aloe Vera products by Forever Living on commission to make a bit of extra money. If you'd like to buy anything from me, here's a list of products and prices.

cozietoesie · 13/01/2017 13:38

Dear Goodness. That would really be letting the side down. Grin

BSintolerant · 13/01/2017 16:50

Bots have this fascinating talent for transforming attraction marketing into utterly repellent marketing. The bossbabes are #makingshithappen Wink

SSDGM · 13/01/2017 20:11

Hello all.. Very long time lurker.

Nu Skin seems to be having a bit of a resurgence, have seen loads of posts recently in local selling groups and saw a "friend" be transformed from "I wish I could be my own boss, work is doing my head in" post to a signed up bot within 2 hours!
48 hours later there's a pic of her wearing a face pack with the closing line of her post "People have already noticed the difference in my skin!". No. No they haven't. I did warn her not to part with any cash up front. She clearly has. Confused

cozietoesie · 13/01/2017 21:28

Achh. Have you read the guidance in Botwatchblog?

SSDGM · 14/01/2017 00:52

Yep. We aren't particularly close, I just know her through a common interest. I commented on her post asking for support for her new business saying to be careful as network marketing recruiters will promise the earth and give little in return and a few others agreed with me. Of course, those posts disappeared and I got a message that she was "just trying something new". Sad, but she is a grown woman. Let's hope she realises before it's too late.

cozietoesie · 14/01/2017 09:58

Ah well. She possibly won't realise. Sad
