One of my bots is running a pamper evening in a local pub on behalf of a local charity, and will be promoting her FL products. The charity is a charity supporting children and families with brain tumours. This makes me feel uncomfortable that people will link the products with the tumours, or is it just me?

wrt Mormonism, this is the earliest "Recovery From Mormonism" site

www.exmormon.org/

Still really busy. (The power of free speech and association. $cn, Amway and other mindcontrol cults hate the 'net :) )

Toobusytowee · 10/03/2016 13:45

Iorek, is the 'heavenly father' a person within the Mormon church or do they just pray? Seems like a very silly thing to do unless this person is a triage nurse in A&E.

Flhahaha · 10/03/2016 14:14

darcey from a few pages back the number of distributors has come from a variety of FL sources, sadly mainly in videos rather than writing.

Pausing I will make a complaint to the ASA if I see an ad to complain about, sadly I don't have any bots on my FB so happy to help anyone else if they see one...

If anyone has a screen shot source of the distributor numbers I would be very grateful. It is best to use recent numbers to complain to the ASA, and the 2015 financial statements aren't out yet, but I think we could probably make a stab at it anyway.

FL lawyers if you could just update the compliance guidelines to forbid a lower number in such ads, and to limit the higher number to the number that the 90th percentile distributor gets paid, that would save everyone a lot of work Grin. Something like:

'90% of distributors with Forever don't make any money. Of the other 10%, most earning are within £0 - £400 a month for working over 15 hours a week'

Myusername2015 · 10/03/2016 15:19

I was reading on one of forever team pages (that I haven't been kicked out of yet!) statement from big boss that forever can't make medical claims as they don't have a pharmaceutical licence; they would get one in a heart beat but then they wouldn't be able to be sold by distributors so they're not going to do that" hahaha they are definitely freaked out on there

....they would get one in a heartbeat but then they wouldn't be able to be sold by distributors....

Hah! Even a lawyer in training could run a coach and horses through that. The whole statement is full of internal inconsistencies.

(He shouldn't of course be referring to 'distributors' since they changed the nomenclature. Grin)

Myusername2015, please can you PM me a screenshot of that statement? Or tell me where the quote is? Thanks.

As did I last and you're right it was hard going but also fascinating in places.

My friend gave it to me to try and convert me as she thought I'd find it useful.

Useful to understand her faith more and Big Love

cozietoesie · 10/03/2016 16:07

I recall, acat, a famous old remark along the lines of:

'He would say that, wouldn't he?'

Smile
IorekByrnisonsArmour · 10/03/2016 16:07

Is Rexy one of the top Mormon disciples?

Here's a fun fact for you.
A few years ago the head people in LDS decided that you are reunited with beloved pets as well as family members after death.
This was decided after his darling horse died.

Twunk · 10/03/2016 16:11

Sounds like the FL world is getting more and more backstabby.

What? You mean they don't all love and support each other like one big happy caring family? Shock

I pop by occasionally for a lurk.

Found this from the Sunday Times

Also thought I saw something on the Financial Times website - a headline (I was looking for something else) about poor FL results (can't find it now)

lastuseraccount123 · 10/03/2016 16:25

well, conveniently every new 'head' of the LDS church is also a prophet and can receive revelations from god.

it does make Mormonism a lot more flexible than some other religions - i.e. when they needed to ditch polygamy their prophet had a revelation that god wanted everyone to be monogamous now!

course it had nothing to do with teh US government breathing down their necks.

Look at this find about how great Juice Plus is. It was alongside a line saying how they don't make medical claims. Hmmmmm

Or allow black people to be priests:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_people_and_Mormonism#Racial_policy_ends_in_1978

"On June 8, 1978, the First Presidency released to the press an official declaration, now a part of Doctrine and Covenants, which contained the following statement: '[God] has heard our prayers, and by revelation has confirmed that the long-promised day has come when every faithful, worthy man in the church may receive the Holy Priesthood, [...] all worthy male members of the church may be ordained to the priesthood without regard for race or color. "
