Have you received a letter from HMRC or Concentrix? This is part 8 now. Have you had the dreaded letter demandeing evidence you live alone? Hopefully we can support each other and try and make sense of it all.

So pleased for you Elastic. That's exactly how I feel. I hope it's the last I hear from them

Justabout1 · 04/03/2016 10:54

I got the first letter delivered to my old address stating evidence of another person living at address.i called and spoke to a rude person who sed lines were very busy would call back that night.9pm that night he called and I informed him I had already sent a change of address when I moved.i stated I share a house with my ex partner who is father of my child.he has his room I have mine and our child has her room.i suffer severe sleep parasomnias and can be very violent and unpredictable.her father is undergoing tests for MS and has been signed of work for months now.i sent all info they wanted with hospital letters etc,I can't leave this house as I won't get housed again.and he refuses to move out.we have no joint bank accounts.i work 16 hours a week.i don't claim housing benefit or council tax benefit.i pay the rent which is 80 a week gas and electric at 20 a week and the tv licence, and what is left I use for food and clothes for my child.he is responsible for paying council tax sky bill and all bills for his car.he does not claim any working tax credits.i received a letter yest stating they have financial evidence of us living as husband and wife and my tax credits will stop, they also spelt his surname completely wrong which makes me think they have no evidence at all or read my letter they just listened to the phone call .i am not going to be able to cover the rent.when I spoke to citizens advice they said it was down to concetrix to prove we are not a couple.i can get an extra couple of shifts at work but no where near enough to cover what I'm going to lose.i don't use any childcare at the moment and with school holidays coming up i don't have anyone who can care for her whilst I work.i just don't know what to do.i was told that I was correct in putting in a single claim as we are not a couple.Any advice would be great

themumfairy · 07/03/2016 10:18

Big hugs just. Have you got receipts for all the things you buy including food etc and him the same? I saw a program about this a few years ago about exs living together. They had to have separate parts of the fridge and cupboards to prove they buy their own food. It will be hard for them to prove you are/aren't a couple, have you put in to appeal?

Justabout1 · 07/03/2016 20:51

I called them today as my payments have stopped, but was told their systems were down and I would get a call back.this was at 10am still waiting.i thought about keeping all my receipts when I got the first letter but as I was told that all I needed to put in the letter to them was that we were separated and that would suffice.i can't pay my rent now which was the compromise myself and ex reached and he would pay all other bills.i have said that if I was living alone I would be needing to claim housing and council tax benefits which would be even more.also found out today that exs hours have been cut from 40 to 25 a week so things gettin worse so quickly

Justabout1 · 07/03/2016 20:58

And they also had the last years bank statements which if they really looked at they wud see that I am in my 800£ overdraft everyday and have no way of getting out of.i can prove I'm barely getting by each week and I wud b worse of living alone and it wudnt be safe due to my sleep issues

Freeandsinglewater · 11/03/2016 09:04

I've moved houses and still no word! It's been over a month.

Ugg...........

This waiting is insane.

McPie · 11/03/2016 10:24

6 weeks and a day have passed since they received the requested info and we have heard nothing, not even worth wasting my money phoning them to be told about their backlog! I got the information gathered in less than a day so I can't see how it takes over 6 weeks to look through it!

donzo78 · 14/03/2016 19:01

Came home today to find the dreaded brown envelope on the mat. I can't tell you how relieved I was when I saw the words 'no change needed'. Now this may be a coincidence but I called them on 8th March to ask when should I expect my paperwork back cause they'd had it since 6th Feb. The woman said since I had called in, she'd send an email to request that my docs are reviewed. The letter I received today was dated 8th March!!. As I say it might be a total coincidence but for those who have been waiting an eternity, it's worth a try phoning again.

I am feeling so nervous. I went through utter hell last year proving that I am single/divorced. Unfortunately the mortgage company has not got it's act together and is still sending my statements with my ex's name. I phoned them up and I was told that they need his signature. My ex signed the documents which were sent to the solicitors and the Judge signed it all off. Well, today I received a text from the mortgage company saying that it received my request and it was dealing with it (I received the same message last year). When I phoned them to see if this really came from them I was told that the Jobcentre had requested documentation from them. I so do not want this stress. Surely they would keep it on record that this was all proven to them last year? I have phoned up my solicitors (hoping that they haven't closed my file) to see why my ex's name is still on the documents. I am now sat down worrying and I will probably be like this until if (hopefully when) I receive confirmation of the tax credits.

Has someone got a response from them yet just WA to know what they said because I am still waiting to hear from them and its mentally straining me😔

Freeandsinglewater · 29/03/2016 21:33

Just had my documents back today. Still with my old address.
The Irish man on the phone said I'd have a answer soon. Some time next week.

But not which next week mind.

We are almost in April!!! This has been going on since Jan.

Elle80 · 05/04/2016 14:27

Hi, I posted this on AIBU but thought I'd also post here to share my Concentrix experience. Today I have sent everything back for appeal and marked up every document with Annex A, B, C etc (and even appendices to annexes) so it is idiot proof. Wish me luck.

ARGH!!!!!!!!!

I was asked to send details of my childcare payments to them back in January and have only today received their response telling me that I have miscalculated by £60 per week and that my tax credits will now be reduced and I will have to start repayments.

I have definitely not miscalculated - they have. They have managed to mess up a simple calculation; that I pay £431 for DD1 and £625 for DD2 per month, equaling £253 per week (I pay for 50 weeks because of 2 week closure at Christmas), to tell me that according to their calculations I only pay £206 per month.

I phoned them only to be told I would have to go through an appeal process ( God knows how long that will take) . Also phoned HMRC who were very nice and rather scathing of Concentrix! But they can't help until I have gone through the motions of the Concentrix appeal.

ARGH again! What am I going to do now? £240 per month is supposed repayments is beyond the joke. And I'll still have to find £1056 per month in childcare.

woodly2013 · 26/05/2016 14:35

I have just completed my tax credit renewal having been separated 3yrs and living with my teenage son. Today I have received a concentric letter about the last financial year tax credit claim stating 'we have information that there may be another adult living with you'. My son is 16years old and at college as such still a dependant. I have declared that quite clearly. This last few months he has had to register for the electoral register and obtain a national insurance number. I rang concentrix and the 'systems are down', I must call back. I have insisted they ring me. I also queried why no pre paid envelope or availability to have information copied locally. Told me to send recorded delivery. I asked why i had to pay to prove something that did not exist and that I had made a correct declaration and nothing had changed. I was told it wasn't necessarily my son that was registered at this address in addition to me. I asked what she was implying as I had lived here for three years, just me and my son. She said she couldn't tell me as the systems were down. I confirmed that even if they do ring me back they still require the ridiculous information in writing and originals. She said yes. I explained that I am sure people who do have someone living with them could still provide the 'single persons' information that is required, bank statement, utility bill, council tax so the whole thing is a ridiculous waste of time. I also mentioned I am pleased the call is recorded as whoever monitors these things can pick up on the issues I have raised that she was unable to answer. I feel really aggrieved. I am a disabled single parent, who has and does comply with requests for information and always completes forms in good time. To imply that 'they know something' about another adult in my household and that I have somehow lied in some way is really offensive. I will see if they do ring back and try to get to the bottom of what they think they know that is clearly untrue.

youknowwhattodo · 26/05/2016 15:12

Do concentrix send documents back recorded post?

woodly2013 · 26/05/2016 15:29

Hi, I really don't know but if they ring me back I will ask them. I am thinking if doing a SAR,subject access request to ask what information are they holding to suggest another adult is in my household. I think I will supply the requested documents, include a letter of complaint that I have already completed a declaration and notified any change of circumstances plus include a data protection SAR request. I am quite perturbed if a previous home owner of this address is using it still for any reason like credit agreements. No one else is listed on the electoral roll because I get the listing through.

youknowwhattodo · 26/05/2016 15:40

I have had the letter from them about childcare costs ive sent documents and waiting for them back. This was 4 weeks ago.
There are lots threads on here similar to yours though. Keep us updated and i hope they call you back

woodly2013 · 26/05/2016 16:00

Will do

Hinckley94 · 26/05/2016 22:19

I recieved the " living with someone" letter today as well, I had the same last year due to financial associations with my ex, I ended up taking Hmrc to a tribunal and it was overturned in my favour, they put me through hell, luckily I've kept all the paperwork so will be sending that as well, I had no payments for months and had to use the food bank, it was a really bad time .. So instead of reading previous notes, they just send the same letter again ...

woodly2013 · 26/05/2016 23:00

I'm sorry to hear you are experiencing the same problem for a second year. I haven't had a callback from concentrix. I intend to send a letter of complaint to HMRC tomorrow and make a SAR for what information they think they have in relation to me,my household and my claim regarding 'an adult in my household' that requires me to 'claim as a couple'. I have lived alone with my dependant son at this address since I moved in three years ago. I find the letter and inference offensive.

Hinckley94 · 27/05/2016 06:36

That's a good idea, I think I will do the same as you woodly2013.

woodly2013 · 27/05/2016 07:27

Good luck. I will let you know how I get on. I am not expecting a quick response, however as it is a complaint they will have internal time frames and a SAR they have legal responsibilities and deadlines to adhere to. I am really annoyed about it, especially when you call them to try to explain where you think the error may have occurred and try to sort it and they imply 'we know what you are up to' tone. It really is disgusting. Maybe it is a known tactic and proves a viable method of flushing out the 'fraudulent' claims.

Hinckley94 · 27/05/2016 08:02

I made a complaint last year and they sent me £50 compensation, when really I just wanted my letters back and for someone with half a brain to look at my claim, yes good luck.

Laurajohnson80 · 29/05/2016 08:44

Can anyone please help me..I have also received a letter yesterday and have never even heard of concentrix, needless to say I felt sick when reading the letter stating I am living with a partner and now I have to send all this evidence in to prove otherwise..I haven't stopped crying! Worried as I have changed banks at the beginning of this year as my mum recommended me as you got £100 as part of a welcome reward, but now I can only get statements from beg of February until now and worried it's not going to be enough..I don't ever use the landline phone as its too expensive purely have it as part of my sky package deal.i do have a boyfriend who lives with his son though in shared accommodation and he does have his private mail sent here and I'm guessing this is why they think I'm living with someone?! Really confused and don't know what to do I work two jobs and have two children anything that changes I always make sure I phone HMRC and now I feel like a criminal 😩

byjimminey · 31/05/2016 00:34

I shouldn't worry Laura (easy to say, I know). I guess they will see that he isn't paying any of your bills or putting any money into you account. Just send them what they want and try not to think about it too much. What made you get him to have his post to your address instead of just having it to the place he lives in? I think I would be telling him to change it!
