Have you received a letter from HMRC or Concentrix? This is part 8 now. Have you had the dreaded letter demandeing evidence you live alone? Hopefully we can support each other and try and make sense of it all.

Thanks for writing back :-) only reason he gets his bank mail here is because where he's moved to the post isn't reliable and things were going missing so I said to get them sent here.also he does pay money into my account every month as his credit rating is so bad he can't get anything so I got a couch from scs sofas a few years ago and a telly for when he moved into his house on finance!! I cleared the telly using my credit card as that had to be paid by may 2015 that was £900 and the couch is £50 a month..ended up using it to help him clear his council tax bill and the arrangement was every month he would pay me back what he can afford to and I in the meantime keep paying the minimum payments on my credit cards :( I also told him to go on to noodle where you can check your credit rating and this way he can see where he's cleared debt and will keep him up to date when accounts are cleared,I done it for him and without thinking I put my address down incase they sent out post and didn't want it to go missing I'm quite new to the noodle site myself and wasn't sure if they sent paper statements etc out now I'm worrying massively it's all because of this because I've been trying to help him 😔 Feel so sick I want to amend his credit report address but scared incase they think I'm being dodgy..he has a son of his own and sees his other son every other weekend I live in a 3 bed house with my son and daughter so the likely hood of us living together is highly unlikely as there's no room for a start!! Never been so worried in my life..I've always been so honest wth HMRC spent a whole hour in the queue once to let them know I had changed my working hours by two more and they said I didn't even have to as it wasn't a massive difference please help thank you

byjimminey · 31/05/2016 11:43

ok, how is he paying the money into your account? Just walking into a bank and putting it in or is he transferring it from his own account?

Im not sure what Noodle is but is seems its some kind of credit checking system from what you say (Ive never used one). So you put your address down with his name on it. Was this quite recent and maybe this is what they have picked up on? I mean, how long have you been getting the tax credits as it seems you have had them a while an only recently something has been picked up on.

What is it you are paying for on your credit card? Is it the TV and couch? Can you not just say that the tv and couch were for you?

byjimminey · 31/05/2016 11:44

Does he have a contract or something to show that he lives in his own place and pays his utility bills and the same for you, i mean, that you pay your own rent and your own bills in your name?

Flojohns80 · 31/05/2016 11:59

Hi thanks for replying..the couch isn't paid on my credit card that's like a standing order so every month £52 comes out and he transfers this back to me through his account..I paid the telly off using my credit card £900 and then his council bill but can't remember what that was! So every month he just transfers over what he can so I can pay off my credit cards.,I never know what he's going to transfer over so I just pay the minimum on the cards..yes noodle is a credit rating system and it is only recently I've done that so think it is that they've picked up on? But if I change it do I look guilty?! My head hurts from it all really don't know what to do..I have found all the stuff from the couch to show that even though I pay it it wasn't sent to my address m..all my utilities bills and rental agreement are solely in my name only and have all this to hand..he's not here on the electoral roll or anything.just worried sick

Zairaakoush · 31/05/2016 12:27

I have just received a letter from them and feeling worried sick. I moved out of my mums house over a year ago but didn't tell them or my bank 9f change of address because I did not really plan on staying at my new place for longer than 6 months. Obviously I am still here but did not inform them as my personal mail is far safer being delivered to my mums than my rented place ( I still get past tenants bank statements, replacement cards&pins). I also have had over £6000 in savings but that was because of housing benefit paying into my account and a stipulation of me acquiring my property was that rent was paid 6 months in advance and I was desperate so scraped what I could together. I do not have a partner although he exists but we are separated but I'm not worried about that just worried I will be penalised for not telling them I moved! I do not want to be in court for this I am really scared and stressed and pregnant too.

byjimminey · 31/05/2016 12:44

Flojohns I think you will be ok, honestly. You just show them that you paid for the couch to be sent to his address as he couldn't afford it all in one go a and then the money he pays into your account is to cover that. You do the same with the council tax and the TV. Lots of people help out family members in this way. For example, a friend of mine has a daughter who is really careless with her money. She is forever getting herself into debt and not paying her rent, gets baliffs involved and so on. So the mother ( my friend) ends up paying it from her account and the daughter pays her back into her account in dribs and drabs. My friend has even had to take out loans in order to pay off her daughters debts! I think its a good thing that you have proof that the couch was ordered by you and sent to his address and that he is paying it back into your account.

I don't know about the noodle thing, I wish you had put it in his address! However, you had your reasons for doing this and this is what you tell them. That he is not good with money and so you did it to help him out, since his post often goes missing from the place he lives in and because you are sick of having to help him out with money.

I wonder if going to the Citizens Advice would be helpful for someone to help get your thoughts out straight as i understand you cant think at the moment and have made yourself feel guilty even though you aren't.

have you told him any of this and what are his thoughts?

As a side note, are you sure you want to be involved with someone who has such a bad credit rating and cant get his act together with money and who is also now causing you this much stress when you seem really quite capable and independent (at least financially) without him??

byjimminey · 31/05/2016 12:46

Do you know how much he still owes you? May be you say you go the noodle thing to keep a heck on his ability to pay you back in full because you are tired of waiting so long for it all?

byjimminey · 31/05/2016 12:51

Zaaira if its just a change of address i don't see what the problem is as your earnings wouldn't have changed because of that. I don't think it matters that you have savings for getting tax credits. I would have thought that your change of address would have been picked up on anyway if you are also getting housing benefit. Is it that they think you are living with the previous tenant if all his mail is coming to you? Why don't you ring the bank that is sending out his letters and just tell them he doesn't live there any more and tell them the date you moved in?

MillyMushroom · 31/05/2016 13:10

I had the 'someone else is living at your address' letter last December. My ex p pays half my rent and phone bill as part of cm. He also stays here when I work my night shifts. It seems that under this government you are not allowed to have a functioning relationship with your ex p where the needs of the dc's are put first.
Concentrix are paid by the government for every claimant whose TC are stopped, they are utter bastards (IMO) as are Cameron et al, no surprise that they are targeting lone parents, the vast majority of which are female Angry

MillyMushroom · 31/05/2016 13:12

But hey, we're all in this together Hmm

woodly2013 · 31/05/2016 13:53

Excellent point MillyMushroom! We are all in this together, so no-one need ever feel alone or unsupported. We are here to help each other and share our thoughts and experiences. This company is a business, looking to make money from the Government contract they have following up 'leads' they have 'uncovered' whatever they may be. I have submitted my SAR and complaint. They will catch a number of people simply by people worrying and making assumptions about what evidence it is Concentrix hold. My suggestion is don't assume anything, ask them directly, 'what evidence/information do you have to suggest that another adult is living in my household?' In which case you can then deal with what information they do hold rather than worrying about what you think they have.Smile

Flojohns80 · 31/05/2016 14:13

Hi byjimminey
Thanks for your help honestly feel a bit better just reading your replys. I can see the payment I made for the telly on my credit card let may and also the council tax so will see if I can get that printed off as proof maybe do you think? Worrying me sending through all this information that they've not asked for makes me look guilty of I make sense?! Just would rather cover myself and send it all as know they'll just come back as ask for things as soon as they look at my bank statements..I've struggled to get access to my old bank accounts but I have managed to get a few months worth of statements plus all this years up till April from my new bank..do you think that would be okay? I would need to try and go through my statements myself to see what i've had in total from him to see what he has left to pay towards my credit cards etc..do you think I should change the noodle address online or leave it? Think by changing it I look guilty but I know it needs changed! Not sure whether to phone them or not as I get nervous and waffle on and do not sure if I'm best of writing a covering letter and explaining it that way

byjimminey · 31/05/2016 14:20

I imagine its helpful to get things off your chest and bounce your thoughts off other people. Can you talk about it with your mum? What info have they actually asked for? How long has h been getting his post sent to your address an how long has the Noodle account been open for? Are they giving specific dates that they are looking at? Like from 2013 or 2015 or whatever? I think if you ring your old bank you can get past printouts of your statements.

I agree that changing the noodle address would maybe make it look like you had panicked and changed to cover something up so really i would just keep it the same for now as it still backs up you wanting to keep him on the straight and narrow (financially!)

byjimminey · 31/05/2016 14:22

have there been any times where you have paid money from your account into his or linking you with his address?

byjimminey · 31/05/2016 14:23

just to try and help you be calm, lots of people help each other out with paying for things and then paying them back whether related or not and plenty people help each other out with getting post sent to their address. how long has his post been coming to you? Is it all of it or some of it?

Flojohns80 · 31/05/2016 14:54

They are asking for info from beginning of April 2015 to April 6 this year..bank statements, tenancy agreement, phone bill? Gas and electric bills council tax statement that's it.. Only literally opened the noodle account last month! I lend money to him and just sent it to his account online..just the odd £20 nothing major so can't see how I would be linked to his address..think its the noodle account, his bank stuff has been coming here since about last August as it was going missing..think I will phone then tomorrow just to see exactly what information they have so I can take it from there! Just such a stress that I don't need right now thanks for your support 🙂

byjimminey · 31/05/2016 15:10

Ok, I think the phone bill, gas electric, council tax and tenancy agreement is just to show that it is your name on the bills and that you are paying them yourself. the bank statement will be to show similar plus to see if anyone is giving you vast sums of money i imagine. will the couch and tv payments be showing on the bank statements or will it just be the money he is paying in to you? I would probably say (if asked) that you ased for him to give you the money into your account so that he couldnt turn around and say you offered it as a gift or that he has given it all to you already, that you wanted some proof that he was repaying you the full amount.

The noodle thing - do you have to pay for it? If you have had it only one month can you cancel it now saying that you only wanted to see it for a one off and that's enough? I think I would be looking into doing this. Is his bank account registered at your address too or is it just forwarded there? I mean, has he changed all his bills to your address? I would have thought that with a credit checking agency in order for them to properly check you, they would need to have your address where all your bills and debt and so on are linked rather than a friend or families address?

Kk88 · 31/05/2016 17:06

I too have received one of these lovely letters today! I've had one before about 3 years again at the time it say we blieve Mr X was living with me sent off everything and It came bk fine. I was sick for weeks with stress of it!

This letter just says they have reason to believe I might not be a single claim. First off I'm so angry cause 1. They should have to inform me who they think I'm living with! And 2. At the fact I have to send my personal bank statements for some strangers to sit and go through! I work full time and work hard for my money I receive very little tax credits anymore. I'm starting to think it's not worth the hassle of claiming it any more if I'm truthful!

I do have a ex......I have 2 kids of course I'm going to have an ex and he pays me for towards his kids. No set amount some months I'm lucky and he give me money some months I get nothing depends on his mood! I also lend money of him when I'm skint and I pay it bk.

But I also have money going into my bank from his mother again she lends me if I'm skint and he won't (he can't be horrid) and I pay her back. I also have brought things out of her catalogue to which I pay it bk so much a weekly. All the bills in my name, no post comes here for him at all, no banks or anything registered here either.

I have just moved here around a year again and I do get a lot of post for the ex tenants. Debt letters and some bank statements. So I think that's what caused the letter. Is their anyway I can get these removed from my address ad I believe hmrc just do credit checks on addresses to see who else is living their and these are not any more

Mrskeats · 31/05/2016 21:00

I've had the dreaded letter today
Think someone lives with me
Well he does as of 2 weeks ago as I have informed them
All bills in my name and no mortgage
I have no idea how they think this
No bills in his name at all and gets no post here
Obviously that will change re post now
Unless it's ex making trouble
Their system down when I rang
Infuriating

Flojohns80 · 01/06/2016 10:39

Byjiminney sorry for delay I was working last night and couldn't get on her because of my internet!..the couch I have found the letter when I first purchased it which shows the total cost of £1200 for the couch delivery address different to my address which is also on the statement..I have a standing order for this every month of £52 which you can see on my statements.,the tv was purchased on my credit card of £811 cannot find my paperwork for this I may go into currys to see if there's anything the can give me surely they must have it on their system? The council tax is also on my credit card statement but there was no paper work for this I'm sure if they wanted to they could phone them and query it to see what and who the payment was for? I'm not bothering to go and do that for them getting everything else for them is such a pain!! His bank is registered here purely as his card was never delivered last year to his address and statements and he has been the victim of card fraud also so I was the one that suggested it..honestly didn't see how I could get into trouble with that..I will try cancel the noodle credit cheek account you don't pay for it so it's no loss..if I can't cancel it I don't want to change the address just yet as they might think I'm covering something up lol!! Will give them a phone to find out what it is they actually have on me and will keep you posted thanks again for your support.

byjimminey · 01/06/2016 20:17

Hi Flo

Its good that you have statements to show that it was all sent to another address. I think its also good that his bank is only at your address because his card didnt turn up. Did you manage to ring them?

does he have his own tenancy agrement? I think that will help a lot. take comfort in the fact that lots of people are getting these kind of letters, not just you!

Flojohns80 · 01/06/2016 23:12

Phones them twice and both times systems were down!! They were both nice who I spoke to and the second one a man called Tom seemed to think it was because of a bank being linked to me? How he knew this as the system was down I don't know? Explained about my boyfriends bank as post is unreliable and he's been the victim of card fraud and his card wasn't delivered to him so that I offered to let him have his bank info sent to my address as at least he would know it would be safe bit a crime in my eyes!!
They said about the bank info and I explained about payments to myself told him I didn't want to get into a personal conversation with him but I would rather send in more information now rather than waiting and then sending more things off and prolonging the whole thing s it's stressing me out already! He said to do that..told him I'm not sending through phone bills as don't have any I would send in as much as I can though with a covering letter..
Think I will phone again tomorrow to see if systems are up ha as really would like it to be confined 100% the info they have not what they think as last thing I want to do is send all info off about credit cards and couches etc and it's nothing to do with that?.. But then surely when they see my bank statements they will query why he's paying money to me so would I just be better off covering my back and sending everything now and just explain to them why I've done it? Argh can't do right for ring it feels

Flojohns80 · 01/06/2016 23:12

For wrong I meant lol think in tired 🙈

byjimminey · 02/06/2016 01:30

I think I would ring them again and ask the same thing again. Lots of people saying their systems are always down, how strange/convenient for them!! I wonder if perhaps you should just send the statements in and then write a note to say I enclose all of my bank statements, as you can see i receive £53 a month paid to me in installments as it was a loan for the couch I paid for back in sept 2014 (or whatever the date is). Have you had a look online to see what other peoples experiences have been with them wanting bank statements?

Flojohns80 · 02/06/2016 10:06

Hi byjimminey..phoned and their systems were up a miracle!! The reason it's been triggered off is because his bank statements are sent here!! So will explain in a covering letter to them the reason why I allowed his bank mail to come to my address.
Will also show that I've been paying £53 every month for his couch which was £1800( double checked this and was a lot more than I thought) since December 2013!! And that he has started paying it back in March last year..( will not send them March statement though as that's not what they've asked for) and hat since then he has been paying me back what he can afford as also got a tv on finance for him £811 and council tax bill £196!! Fair to say he owes me quite a bit and so I will document this all and fingers crossed hope to god it's all okay

Can't help feeling so sick and stressed out feel like a criminal over all this!! If I could afford to not have tax credits I wouldn't bother complete stress and having to explain now every transaction they have a problem with since last year!!
