Write to hmrc complaints, or call them. U might get something. Explain everything. It's so stupid that it's taken this long

binxthecat1 · 14/10/2015 10:23

Hi nikkileighxox123

Is it at mandatory consideration stage? I don't know how long that should take. Is it worth logging a complaint with hmrc and concentrix to see if they can move things forward and contacting your MP. Some have been quite helpful with some mums on here? I wonder if they are suspicious as you are expecting a baby and will have assumed you were in a relationship because of this. I'm just trying to work out their reasoning but they do seem to be a nightmare generally and have no idea of the financial hardship they cause. Is there any emergency funding available at the council? I hope it gets sorted for you.

sandradee1978 · 14/10/2015 11:03

i actually cannot believe how many this is affecting! i found this forum whilst searching for info on concentrix during a very stress full and sleepless night last night! i am a single parent of two children, my youngest child is 10 years old and has Down Syndrome. i split up with my children's father shortly after our second child was born. 10 years ago!! have lived solely on my own with my children ever since. my ex provides no money for our children whatsoever even though he is in full time employment! (deadbeat) over the years i have still had the odd letter for him here and did not really think much of it. 5 weeks ago i had a letter from HMRC stating i had been overpaid and would have to pay them back, stupidly i just thought "ok they will probably take a little back each week etc" and did not question it! (stupid i know) then the very next morning my money did not go into my account. (no other letters nothing!) so i rang HMRC and after about two hours i finally managed to work out a company called concentrix was now dealing with my claim and to call them direct!? which i promptly did... to be told i had made a fraudulent claim because i was living with my partner (father of my children) i got very upset as this is false!!! and frankly i would rather live with freddy krueger! so i was told to ask for a mandatory request and to send all my bank statements for the tax year, proof of housing benefit, bill payments, and "anything else i could think of to support my claim" like what?! anyway, i did this and also sent some bills my ex gave to me in his name at HIS ADDRESS where he lives!! by recorded delivery... it was signed for and all documents were sent back to me with a letter from concentrix stating "i will write to you about your tax credits shortly" that was four weeks ago! i am ringing them almost every day to see whats happening..costing a fortune i am dreading the phone bill! to be told they "have a huge backlog at the moment" i have missed hospital appointments for my youngest daughter because i just do not have the money to travel there and back and its an hour away even in car! i barely have money to feed us or to pay for gas and electricity! i have had to borrow from friends, family and don't even know when i can pay them back?! i have debt knockers at my door! its an absolutely horrendous situation! i am my daughters full time carer and living on £60 a week until her DLA comes through again. this is money for my disabled child and supports things she needs! i am going to have to use it for food, bus fairs for my son to get to school, and to pay bills. even when it does come through its nothing at all. i have 5 weeks of bills and money borrowing to make up! i rang concentrix yet again this morning to find out whats happening. to be told my claim has been dealt with and a letter was sent to me on the 9th but they can't tell me the decision over the phone?! its now the 14th and postman has just been! (no letter again?) surely if it was sent on the 14th i would of had it by now? does anyone know if they will backdate my tax credits? or just reinstate it if the decision has been overturned? or if i can ring anywhere to find out over the phone?

KatharineClifton · 14/10/2015 12:19

sandradee1978 that's odd they won't tell you over the phone, I'm hoping it's not bad news as they told me (good news). Concentrix notify HMRC the same day a decision is made so perhaps try phoning HMRC to see what is going on?

Second thing to do today is to find out how to get referred to a local food bank and get referred asap. I think food banks are mainly for people who have benefits suspended at the moment. Disgusting system, but they are there to help. Or message me your location and I'll find out for you?

sandradee1978 · 14/10/2015 12:36

oh god don't say that! i'm not doing anything wrong!!! the man from concentrix just told me a letter was sent out but it does not say what on his screen?! i'm on the phone right now to HMRC that hold music is starting to drive me slightly insane!

KatharineClifton · 14/10/2015 12:52

Have you got through yet?

sandradee1978 · 14/10/2015 14:22

not as yet! 1 full hour on hold and ended up being cut off! i did apply this morning to the local council for a crisis loan to see me through. they sent me £71 in a text voucher to take to a pay point. so i went and did that (anyone facing severe hardship can do this) i only found out last night. must be payed back as soon as possible at no less than £5 per week. i am extremely grateful as it has saved our bacon literally! but it is yet another loan on top of my ever growing list! i will try HMRC directly again in the morning if i still have no decision letter! though if it was sent to me on the 9th and not yet arrived i'm worried its been lost in the post!

A1b2C3d4E5f6 · 14/10/2015 14:25

sandradee1978 5 weeks isn't a patch on my case! 17weeks with no payments so far. They told me 4weeks ago I had to apply for mandatory reconsideration when I called them & told me a letter had been sent out telling me this. It took 9days to get to me. I've heard nothing since.

processiNg123 · 14/10/2015 17:38

Hi,
I don't know if anyone can help?
Back in may I got a letter from these concentrix regarding who I had living with me over 2013-2014 no one obviously but some of my landlords post was still coming to my house. I think this is why I have flagged up on there system. I sent them all the info they asked for never heard anything I thought that was the last of it.
Then received a letter saying my payments for Wtc will be stopped, I received that on the day they were stopped. Called them and they said they never reicieved and of my paperwork and to send it again. I did this this time via recorded delivery. 2 weeks ago I got a letter with my documents saying they were looking into my claim. I called them today and finally got through and was told my claim was in a que and they could not possibly give me a time scale on a decision. It's been 6 weeks since they stopped my working tax credit and my housing benefit. I'm trying to live off my wages of 400 per month I'm not even paying my landlord rent at the moment (he is not gonna put up with that much longer) trying to run a car (need for work community carer) and a house. It's just not possible nothing is being paid I can barely feed my son. How long will this take? Has anybody else been through this? Was your wtb and hb back dated???
Thanks in advance guys. X

KatharineClifton · 14/10/2015 17:41

Housing Benefit is a completely different thing though isn't it - given by the council? Are you on UC?

KatharineClifton · 14/10/2015 17:42

HMRC is open until 8 sandradee maybe it's easier to get through after 6?

processiNg123 · 14/10/2015 17:49

they are all linked once one has been suspended they all get stopped until a decision has been made in my experience. What's UC?

KatharineClifton · 14/10/2015 17:50

Universal Credit - it links up all different benefits into one. coming in slowly.

That's a bloody nightmare about HB, I didn't know they'd be linked like that. When my HB was stopped once it had no effect on the other benefits, but that was a fair few years ago.

processiNg123 · 14/10/2015 17:56

I don't think UC has hit Bristol yet...could have done but I still get Wtc/ctc and hb.

sandradee1978 · 15/10/2015 17:31

Absolutely disgusting! i have been told today after i got in touch with my family support worker and she rang them for me they finally told her they want more information? why cold they not tell me this 5 weeks ago?? i hope you get sorted its so distressing to anyone in this situation. forcing people into poverty on a whim!

A1b2C3d4E5f6 · 15/10/2015 19:43

It took them 14weeks to tell me they needed more info which I sent 3weeks 3days ago. I'm nearly at 18weeks with no Tax Credits payments whatsoever.

sandradee1978 · 16/10/2015 10:19

Oh my god that's disgusting! They are telling me I need to send a water bill from 2014 and it must be a water bill?! Despite me already sending them all my bank statements from April 2014 to now 2015 and a gas and electricity bill along with my TV licence and housing benefit letter for 2014! And my exes water bill from his address where he lives?! I feel like they are taking the absolute mick now insisting on a water bill and it's just another reason to drag it out! I have also wrote my letter of complaint and had it signed by my local housing officer to support my claim. And since I now have to wait for Yorkshire water to re send me my 2014 bill statements I can't do anything until I get it and once again send to them by recorded delivery so they can look at my claim at their own leisure

A1b2C3d4E5f6 · 16/10/2015 14:15

They've had my bank statements, tenancy agreement, gas & electric bills, water bill, 2years council tax bills. I've only lived here 2years so sent them everything! My ex lives in a different town, has his own place, own council tax notice, on the electoral roll and all his own bills there. I can't see how it could be any clearer for them that we are not together!! I've gone from upset to angry to frustrated to stressed & upset again over these last few months.

Croy1985 · 20/10/2015 17:44

Anymore news a1b2 it's taken so long for u xx

A1b2C3d4E5f6 · 20/10/2015 18:15

Hi Croy1985 no news, will be 18weeks Friday.

Croy1985 · 20/10/2015 18:39

Bloody hell, hope it's sorted soon

Cazzamoody · 20/10/2015 22:24

Looks like it's just the beginning for me , I've had a letter saying they believe my address or myself is linked to another name.... My children's father! I know it's stupid but he has a bank letter that comes here and also phone contract which he got out for my children but that's it! All hos other bills go to his address but because where he lives are trying to remortgage they don't want his sept letters at that address!! We have been separated for years but we do get along! We've both had other relationships ect. I'm sending all my bills and tenants agreement tomorrow!! They haven't asked for his address but was thinking would it be good to send his wage slips insurance and driving licence copies in with his address? Would it speed things up? I just don't know what to do!! Really worried my money will be stopped like many of you have experienced. Cazza. Shock

KatharineClifton · 20/10/2015 22:31

Make sure you send it all asap, exactly what they ask for (no more, no less) and send it trackable - imperative! The only way your money gets stopped is if they don't get the stuff on time or they decide against you. If you don't get a letter back saying they have the stuff a couple of weeks before the date make sure you phone them and double check as stuff gets 'lost'. Keep on top of it all and don't expect a quick investigation. It's horribly stressful I know, mine went on for many many months.

If they decide against you then you have to go to a Mandatory Recommendation but there's no point stressing yourself about that this early as chances are you won't need it. And stop anything with your ex's name coming through to your address asap too!

Cazzamoody · 20/10/2015 22:39

Thanks for you reply, I will only send my stuff bills ect, I will get children's father to change bank address asap! It's so stressful I've wanted to cry all day at work! Like you said it's not worth stressing over yet as this could go on for months ??

KatharineClifton · 20/10/2015 22:42

Not sure if it's wise or not to include the phone contract letters - perhaps somebody else on here would know?
