zolabud81 · 08/07/2015 08:32

Yeah next week 30 quid down and every week after 34 a week down I'm gutted but part of me is just happy it's sorted. Does anybody know after the budget this morning how long does it take for there changes to com into play on the benefits

jonny82 · 08/07/2015 08:34

Will be a year at least before it kicks in.

12fedup12 · 08/07/2015 08:37

At least it's all been sorted now zola and you can relax x

zolabud81 · 08/07/2015 08:39

Hi Jonny82 any luck with yours hun. And they jeep saying they might limit tax credits 2 2 kids per family I will have 2 of my own and 2 step kids my step kids live with me and are 14 and 15 so I will receive ta x credits for them only but when they turn 18 will I get tax credits for my 2 baby's instead of them

Mel25murf · 08/07/2015 08:43

Jonny82

How do you know it'll be a year before changes happen? Any new budget rates can go live from 6pm on that day, if they so wish to?

Morgan97 · 08/07/2015 08:44

Mel it said on the news the cuts would be phased in slowly yeah right we will see

OP posts:
zolabud81 · 08/07/2015 08:45

Oh god don't say that Mel25murf

Mel25murf · 08/07/2015 08:53

I have already been through my finances to see where I can cut down and the only place I can save from is the car(rely on for getting to work so not realistic) or our food budget as all other bills are pretty much set and cannot go any lower/be cut further!

Morgan, I think it's all to do with the reality that the country would fall apart if they did that, can you I,agine millions of angry families at Downing street? Lol. I think if we all pulled together like that, then tray be we'd be heard and not stamped all over!

When people are earning less now than they did 10+ years ago and proposer ty/rents/food/fuel etc.., prices have risen(some extortionately so), we have no hope at the bottom of the food chain unless we stand together!

Morgan97 · 08/07/2015 08:57

Agree with you Mel. I don't have any finances to cut back on. Yes a huge group of us at Downing Street would go down well wouldn't it ha

Sorry for all the typo's! I am really passionate about this subject. I hate seeing people suffer. We will manage just about, it will mean we won't get our small camping holiday or the few days out we have over the year and less for christmas/Birthdays but we will eat and keep the house(just). I feel sorry for those who will not be able to manage and will face homelessness, losing the homes theyYes have worked hard to keep and chosing between food/heating!

I honestly despair. I hope they do phase icuts along with countering the cuts with higher wages in return. I hope they keep to their word about being "in it together". I am however preparing for the very worst!

zolabud81 · 08/07/2015 08:59

I know I'm going through my finances first thing is my broadband cutting that down and goin to my basic sky package as well

Mel25murf · 08/07/2015 09:00

The 38 degrees petition is being handed in at 12 today by a huge group of it's supporters. I live in Wales, but I will definitely be looking out for local events with the assembly for people's demonstrations against austerity! If we all just stood together we could have a revolution easily!

jonny82 · 08/07/2015 09:11

Because imagine the uproar it would cause if it was to start today

I can't see it happening for a little while , also they say it will be phased in anyway.

jonny82 · 08/07/2015 09:13

Zola when I rang yesterday they said up to 9th June so mine should be Friday ish .

Going to call then.

Morgan97 · 08/07/2015 09:14

Mel I put a link up for 38 degrees petition somewhere I think it's on part 5 there's still time to sign it so if you haven't already get signing lol

Plus I think the cuts to tax credits limiting children would only affect new claims from what I have read .

utdfan · 08/07/2015 09:29

Well if it is true that they have only found these cuts in the last couple of weeks then I can't see how it would be effective immediately, because they would have to have all the systems updated already. I think we will see cuts from October, further ones in April. This will also give people time to increase their hours or ask for pay rises etc.

The limit to 2 children is for new claims from what I have read.

utdfan · 08/07/2015 09:31

I know they knew they were going to cut some but it had not been finalised as to what is being cut and by how much until just recently.

zolabud81 · 08/07/2015 10:25

It's gonna be dramatic Wat ever the cuts are I'm already 34 quid a week down from last year with out the cuts. Just made 3 phone calls to to my mobile phone company, water people and bt and managed to save 17 pound a week to try and offset the 34 quid a week I'm down. I'm hoping my housing benefit might go upnow but I know this budget is goin to cut on housing benefit 2 this is scary times for us working class familys

Louby76 · 08/07/2015 10:39

For me increasing my hours is a no go, I work 30 already & there just aren't any more hours going where I work & on top of that it would cost me more in childcare anyway! It's a no win situation. I have still heard nothing since I got my documents back on Friday. Rang tax credits this morning, told me my award has been finalised but he didn't elaborate on that. I guess I shall just have to wait & see what if anything goes into my bank next week! My payment this week was £2 more but that could mean anything! They always seem to give you one higher payment & after that they are lower so who knows! I will be worrying now until Tuesday wondering if it's gone down!
