throwingpebbles - Believe me, compared with lofty academics like Robert Lifton, Eric Voegelin, my explanation of 'totalistic cultism', is written in very plain English.

Also, don't forget, that if I were get anything wrong in my published analyses, the groups which I have deconstructed on my Blog, would unleash an avalanche of lawsuits in my direction.

throwingpebbles · 05/07/2015 20:52

I am not suggesting you should start getting things wrong. The report I rewrote was on a complicated area of law. It is possible to write both something that is simultaneously correct and easy to read

Eyespying · 05/07/2015 20:58

throwingpebbles

'You can't see that many of us are accepting your basic point in its entirety. We are just tired of you making it multiple times and at great length'

Oh I see that perfectly well, but Xenu1 can't. Remember, I've become so used to confronting inflexible persons that sometimes my reaction appears to be obsessive. You should read some of the hundreds of abusive scripted-comments I've received on my Blog from deluded MLM adherents, but which I mostly refuse to post.

Marking place for some light hearted banter

Please!!!

'It is possible to write both something that is simultaneously correct and easy to read'.

___

It depends what the subject is.

An accurate deconstructed explanation of cultism is never going to be an easy read, because, when describing cultic groups, you have always to indicate what is thought-stopping jargon.

In many repects, explaining cultism, is like decrypting a code.

lastuseraccount123 · 05/07/2015 21:17

i just liked my first Juice + page. By the way they're looking for team members.

lastuseraccount123 · 05/07/2015 21:19

and younique. yet somehow my bot stable doesn't feel complete. hmm maybe herbalife?

lastuseraccount123 · 05/07/2015 21:22

3D mascara? seriously? cos all the rest of the world's mascaras are 2-dimensional?

oh, this is going to be good times. Grin

throwingpebbles · 05/07/2015 21:29

I give up! It's a shame because, like I said, your message is such an important one but you communicate it in a way that alienates almost everyone

throwingpebbles · 05/07/2015 21:30

Now, can we get back to juicy adecdotes please ladies Grin

throwingpebbles · 05/07/2015 21:32

I was Facebook stalking an old school friend, and was reading her posts about her "successful business" and her amazing life yaddah yaddah yaddah and was feeling pangs of envy and then I spotted that this "amazing business" was Younique Grin

lastuseraccount123 · 05/07/2015 21:34

well, as the first makeup company to bring out a mascara in 3 dimensions, i can see why they're successful, ar ar.

Hear hear.

Eyespying · 05/07/2015 21:46

throwingpebbles - Almost everyone perhaps, but not everyone.

You for one, do see the 'MLM' phenomenon more clearly, but it's not a very pleasant thing to see.

You should never judge anyone until you have walked a mile in their shoes.

If you have the time, I would challenge you to set down in the form of succint, easy to read, plain English document, a basic accurate description of the 'MLM' phenomenon and, particularly, what makes it unlawful.

Imagine you were writing to your MP.

I would be fascinated to read what you produce and how long it takes you to produce it.

xenu1 · 05/07/2015 21:50

How many success days are there per year? It looks like almost one every couple of months as the last one was 21/6? If they can fill O2 at £30 a pop no wonder they can bung those on stage a couple of thousand ££s?

lazycoo · 05/07/2015 22:29

I would love someone who has been there and got out, ideally if they reached eagle manager (or whatever name they're giving it), to give us an insight into the finances. My hope is that if even one person is put off these cons as a result of these threads then we're helping. Given they're trying to sell the dream that it's easy money, some figures could be very helpful for those feeling the pressure of the hard sell.

throwingpebbles · 05/07/2015 22:32

I've finally seen a photo of one of those yellow bag things they can be "awarded". It is astonishingly vile! A photo of someone hugging their yellow monstrosity and looking pleased about it could probably convince almost anyone that there is brainwashing involved GrinGrinGrin

throwingpebbles · 05/07/2015 22:33

or one of us could volunteer to infiltrate ...

lazycoo · 05/07/2015 22:41

Oh there's a thought. But I would need to con some people to create a 'downline' and get 'promotion' (it's your own fecking business is it not?!). I couldn't bear it. I still think back to that sorry time three years ago, and all I lost financially was about £50 and fifteen hours of my time researching it. Most lose far more. In my job as a commercial lawyer I thought I'd seen all the nasty tricks, but the MLM con is the worst one of all.

The über FL-bot that throwing pointed out put up a post today. In it I think she thanked everyone who had ever cooked for her?!

KenDoddsDadsDog · 05/07/2015 22:42

Marking place , it was aloe time in the sun today

lazycoo · 05/07/2015 22:42

It's defo brainwashing throwing. Why would you not be thrilled with your disgusting monstrosity of a bag that's brighter than the fecking sun?

capercaillie · 05/07/2015 22:49

Have been following the last thread. Like many people, have a FL bot on my Facebook - been invited to parties etc which I've ignored. I was also contacted by another FL bot who I met for less than 5 minutes (not sure how she had my details) at a friends coffee morning - with the business opportunity. Ignored that one too! It's all strangely fascinating though. The claims are so huge but would love to know more about how it works in practice. I'm self-employed - I have a clear idea of how much I earn and how much time it takes me. I'm assuming they don't get any input/training about financial management etc on success days - because surely the holes in the argument would appear fairly quickly (costs v income v profit?).

Bovnydazzler · 06/07/2015 05:35

I also love the vile lime green scarves they all are encouraged to wear for success days. Eurgh.

throwingpebbles · 06/07/2015 07:11

Haha lazycoo that cookery post is something special!!!!! And I like the guy who has commented that the first ingredient in anything he cooks is "love"

throwingpebbles · 06/07/2015 07:14

Will try and link later but check out all the ones where they are receiving their bonus cheque. They look positive deranged with joy! And interestingly you can't see the actual amount they have been given in any of the photos, despite the cheque being one of those huge giant ones.
