Morgan97 · 20/05/2015 19:08

I realised that mimz as soon as I replied to you ha ha. They're are getting away with treating us like this its more than desperate now. Have to say the support on here is amazing thank you

Waggledanse · 20/05/2015 19:15

Oh Morgan! 26 March!! And you've still not had a final decision? So basicly they are saying you are fraudulent!! Yet no charges in that. Surely they must be able to prove this! So much against child poverty which is why tax credits were brought in. I spoke to my child minder earlier and at least 4 people she knows of has had some kind of letter from them. Least if you was on the dole they would do a house check and actually prove someone breaking the rules! My mam told me tonight... " you'll be fine, kids wouldn't lie, they know they go to the childminders" ermmmm. I didn't have the heart to tell her they don't come to your house to check and sit outside your house with a camera. Wish they did!! X

halo55 · 20/05/2015 19:15

Did they explain why they stopped your payments morgan? Sorry to hear that.

Kittykat60 · 20/05/2015 20:25

Yes I know I've got to do it, thanks for the support, I just know it's going to be bad news, looked on this experian credit thing n they know everything! I can explain the connections but they will not see it the way it is,,, everyone must have to cut all ties and have nothing at all connecting them with their former partner, children do tie parents together and if they are decent parents yes sometimes it's financially.
I still can't get over the fact in 2015 our own bloody country the fantastic Great Britain is doing this to single parents!!

AdmiralCLingus · 20/05/2015 21:04

Sorry to all the new folk joining us Sad

This is the result of that cunt being voted in to rule this country with his cronies Angry if George Osborne has his way we'll all be in the gutter!!!

Anyone considering blanking out transactions on their statements DONT, because they won't accept them.

halo they've asked me for DDS birth certificate, tell me how THAT proves if I live with someone or not?! They seem to make things up as they go along and ask for increasingly random docufments!!! And be warned, you might never see any of the stuff you send ever again.

It makes me so sad there's so many of us on this thread but I'm glad we've got each other for support

Kittykat60 · 20/05/2015 21:10

Lol admiral , that's made me smile, yep another five years of this now! Thanks for the advice on the statements but I've already blanked mine now n I ain't printing anymore, why do you need to provide a birth certificate admiral? Wtf! What does that prove to them?

Morgan97 · 20/05/2015 21:10

Waggle and halo they said i hadn't sent enough evidence to prove I'm single yet I had the same letter in 2012 sent the same evidence as I did this time but they tell me it's not sufficient total madness!! We can only send what we have and not stress about what we don't. They say i owe nearly £7000 god knows how ill manage to pay it back if they don't accept my mandatory reconsideration I'm struggling so much now. Will have to go back to the food bank on Friday as I'm working tomorrow. Rice n beans for dinner,I'd be ok on I'm a celeb ha ha

OP posts:
AdmiralCLingus · 20/05/2015 21:29

A friend made me laugh yesterday when she said George Osborne looks like the child catcher out of chitty chitty bang bang.... An apt comparison if ever there was one tbh!

I'd like to know why they want that too.... I guess their next angle is that she doesn't exist?

(I'm sure they'd appreciate me sending her round at shit o'clock in the morning when she's up demanding cbeebies.... No doubting she's real then!!)

beadedn · 20/05/2015 21:36

This website has good info as wellwww.taxcc.org/TCC_News/05/02/2013/hmrc-say-youre-a-couple-when-youre-not/

mimz87 · 20/05/2015 22:51

Morgan listen honey i know its not much atm to say because of what you're going through but absolute worse case senario is that it'll end up in court where it'll be thrown out guaranteed. You're not doing anything wrong, your situ is the same as before as you've always informed them about and it's not for you to prove you're single, it's for them to prove you're not.... so forget the £7000, they can shove it up their arse.x

Morgan97 · 21/05/2015 07:50

Ha ha mimz can you imagine their faces if I was to tell em where to shove it. Admiral you always make me smile. KittyKat it's a shot in the dark but can't you get stamped statements from the bank, that's what I did and it didn't cost me anything. Like I've said in previous posts they keep changing things to suit themselves,I've even told them come and do a home visit but no reply so surprise there then !!

OP posts:
YouPooPooBumBum · 21/05/2015 07:56

Just marking place to reply properly later. I am glad this thread is still here. It's very helpful. Thanks.

Kittykat60 · 21/05/2015 08:12

I've printed some out Morgan but I ain't printing anymore, they sound as though they ll pick at anything so it ll prob b that with me, along with everything else, lol. What normally happens after they get your documents? Do they ring you? Sorry if I've asked this before but my brain is totally fuddled. Had nightmares last night about them going back years n years n owing them thousands n thousands, ha ha, they d lucky to get that. Again so glad for all the support on here , would have gone crazy by now without it.

mummymich2005 · 21/05/2015 10:52

I am yet to receive this lovely letter (although I was informed I should have had it by now!!!!)

I phoned tax credits last week to renew my claim and change from single to joint only to be told there was a block on my account and had to ring this company (concentrix)
No explanation as to why they just said they couldn't do anything about my claim until I had contacted them.
So rang up this concentrix, spoke to a lovely lady and explained I should have received a letter as apparently I have someone living with me!!!!
She gave me a long list of stuff I have to send off. Every bill I have is in my name, however up until last month my rental agreement had mine and my partners name on.
When I moved we both signed tenancy as he paid the rent instead of giving me money for the children, also his bank card is registered at my address so he could pay that bill as when you pay online the card has to be registered at the same address.
plus I live in rented accommodation so get previous tenants mail so understand probably why I'm in the firing line.

I just wondered if anyone has been in a similar position as me and everything's turned out ok?
I've not been eating and sleeping properly as I'm not worried I've done something wrong and won't be able to prove otherwise.

mimz87 · 21/05/2015 11:46

Kittykat nothng flipping happens!!! All you can do (if you send it registered) is check they've received it via the signiture that'll will show up through your tracking number then after that you're basically left to wait and rot!!

maidofkent24 · 21/05/2015 12:20

Please don't anyone give up hope - after almost 4 months I have finally had my paperwork returned today! No thanks to Concentrix, it was the lady at HMRC I spoke to last week that made this happen & my threat of taking legal advice if it didn't. I've still not heard anything from Concentrix in all this time. They really don't care at all do they?
I'll continue to follow this thread & hope to see more positive news soon. Stay strong everyone :)

izzy76 · 21/05/2015 14:01

Hiya guys thank you to Morgan97 for the pm about the new thread, this was what i put on the old thread just before it closed I have too got the letter today and was bricking it ive been a single mum for 8 years and not in a relationship (im staying single) they said i have someone living me tho i aint ive just recently had a stroke and this has caused me to be crying all day till i decided to google it and came accross this thread, i can provide the bank statments but i dont get a waterbill or gas nore electric bills as they are all prepay so dont know what to do,The strange thing is since Jan ive been getting letters sent here (including a bailiff) for someone i dont know ive been sending them all back saying not at this address never had been.I really am scared that they will stop my money as i can barley live as it is,Any advice would be fantastic as this stress will make me more ill tia x

I am so so scared after reading this thread and is dreading sending anything off and i dread going to the bank incase they stop my money also the letters for another person are arriving more frequently yet ive lived here 11 years and never had 1 letter before Jan i keep putting rts do you think i should keep a list and a pick of them before i put em in the post box i dread the postman and ecery knock at the door :(

LotusLight · 21/05/2015 15:39

The tax and VAT people (HMRC directly) have always asked for bank statements for the year of the issuei n question and often earlier years. They can go back 6 years and if fraud as far back as they like . That is HMRC and has been their rules for decades so Concentrix asking for bank statements is not surprising.

On paying in cheques I pay them in all the time and they never show the name of the person who paid you the money ever. The bank will have a copy of the cheque and always keep your paying in book and write down the payee name or if in doubt keep a photo copy of your cheque. This is also important if a relative gives you monry and dies within 7 years as if that happens sometimes (depending on the amount) you have to prove where it came from and may have to pay 40% back to HMRC in inheritance tax so it is a very good idea always to keep all records like that for at least 6 years.

Has anyone tried doing a credit check on themselves (costs £2). I just wondered if that showed up who the credit check people like equifax think you are living with or linked to. It may not.

ciaraDon · 21/05/2015 17:20

Hello everyone , received my letter about single claim at beginning of the month. I sent everything off and received documents back 2 weeks later saying they would let me know their decision. That was a week ago and have heard nothing since. My payments go in monthly so wont know if payments have stopped for another week if I haven't received a letter in the meantime. I am very grateful for tax credits and dont mind providing info but very much resent the way Concentrix have gone about these checks.

Morgan97 · 21/05/2015 18:46

Ladies all you can do is try to send what they ask for if you have it and if you don't have it there's nothing you can do. They've asked me to provide additional evidence to prove I'm single but forgot to tell me what! Reason being they know i don't have what they're asking for cos I've told them five times! I don't mind what I have to send I just resent being treated like I'm lying when I'm not, they keep changing the rules. And just for the record my poor postman gets the evil eye every time he delivers anything or not poor man lol

Also everyone do bear in mind that in court (and if you went to an HMRC hearing) a written witness statement which you certify is true and one from your neighbour and others you know which sets out short facts about what you do and with whom you live is also "evidence". Obviously it's better if you can find an ex husband's new address, confirmation he is on the electoral roll in his new place, pays council tax there etc but even if that cannot be shown a clear statement eg enclosing divorce decree, consent orders from courts, copies of say a letter you wrote to the children's school confirming the father had moved out or you'd split up etc etc will all help.

ciaraDon · 21/05/2015 19:19

I really feel for those of you whose payments have stopped. I know how crucial they are.
I'm hoping , because they didn't ask me for any more "evidence" when they returned my documents that they are satisfied with it and the letter to confirm this will arrive soon. I really don't know what's more concrete than my decree absolute.
