Hello, I am just looking for any advice (preferably from NHS experience) as I know no one who has gone through this to ask.

I am 9 1/2 weeks pregnant, had a private scan yesterday which confirmed heart stopped at 6+4. I had a gut feeling (hence the scan) I can’t explain why as I still have all my symptoms.

I rang my local unit and went today for a scan who again confirmed the same as the private scan but are making us go back in 14 days for a re scan before I can have any medical management.

it just feels cruel and I have so many worries.
Will it happen naturally when it stopped so long ago?
can I end up with an infection with it just left there?
Will the NHS offer surgical management over tablets?

I just feel tortured

thank you to anyone who has read this!

@NSC1980 I'm so sorry to hear this. It is horrible trying to get your body to just do what it's suposed to, and it feels like everything takes forever when you just want to get back to normal and move on. I hope you have a lovely time in France and that you can, for those few days, just put it to the back of your mind.

@Armdjm congratulations, we all having everything crossed for you. Hope the morning sickness isn't too bad!

@YellowTack and @TruthUnwinding Hope the exercising is helpful, it's definitely something I turn to to help me tune into my body and try and get it as ready as possible to concieve. I'm also going back to healthy eating and doing some of the recipes out of Emma Cannon's 'Fertile' book. I'm getting paranoid about my age and my eggs degrading.

On that, I've looked into the Hertility that you mentioned @TruthUnwinding and see that @Confusedmermaid1 is also planning on doing it. Has anyone else done it? I get that it would be useful if you think there might be some inbalances in hormones, but actually my cycle seems back to normal relatively quickly...I ovulated a week later than I would normally have expected. The one thing that could be helpful is knowing my AMH, but I'm not sure that I want to know if it's really low and it'll make me more stressed that time is running out (I'm 41). What were everyone else reasoning for doing the test?

On this note, I think the Hertility has definitely been worth doing. I had it in advance of a fertility clinic meeting and I think it has helped getting some of the info faster than it would usually come. I am 36 so I don't want to waste too much time.

I just had some new blood tests done by the hospital following the fertility clinic meeting to double check some of the results.

I also just got a letter from my fertility clinic which said I have low progesterone. This on top of the high prolactin could explain my troubles. But on the plus side, I think both of these can be fixed easily with medicine? Hoping for a positive outcome in the future!

HFH40 · 22/11/2024 20:05

@TruthUnwinding ah, that’s really interesting. So did you think you had something up with your cycle before anything had happened at all? Sorry if you’ve said this before…there’s quite a few different voices on the thread and it’s tricky remembering who said what (that probably just my slow brain!) I see they advise doing it at least a couple of times too. Did you? Or were you able to then use the fertility clinic testing as a follow up?

YellowTack · 23/11/2024 23:31

@Armdjm congratulations, it does help us to stay hopeful.

@HFH40 exercising feels amazing, I really want to regain some strength and stamina before my next IVF cycle so I am going all in!

I have an appointment with my IVF consultant next week to discuss the next steps, but I have already been told that nothing will happen until next year as my body still needs time to recover. This is really frustrating as I feel like I am going backwards with all this wait and having to start the full process again.
I am still testing positive 2 weeks after my surgery, but I have heard this is normal.

Armdjm · 24/11/2024 01:40

@YellowTack i got a bit obsessive with testing after my surgery (every day 🫣) so I can tell you it took me 20 days past surgery for me to test negative!

So sorry I’m late to this but the biggest congratulations @Armdjm. So so happy for you!!

@TruthUnwinding glad to hear your results have been helpful. I can’t remember what you’ve said about it on this thread previously but I have a prolactinoma (was diagnosed almost 15 years ago now) and had shockingly high prolactin for years. If you ever want to chat about it just shout.

Hope everyone is doing ok x

Happy to expand! So before the MMC, I had a chemical pregnancy and a TFMR. Since my MMC in July I have had another chemical pregnancy, sadly.
This is the main reason for being tested at the fertility clinic, and as you say I was able to use the fertility clinic as a follow up. :)

That would be really helpful! Can you send DM's on here? Or maybe it is useful for all of us to know?

Just sent you a DM @TruthUnwinding!

WildFinch · 25/11/2024 17:28

Many congratulations @Armdjm such wonderful news :) !
I'm so glad of these positive stories. I'm just going to into my second cycle TTC since the MMC and really trying not to put too much pressure on but it's hard.

Armdjm · 25/11/2024 17:37

@WildFinch Thank you so much! It is hard not put pressure on, the first month I felt a lot of pressure and a lot of mixed feelings over the fact I should still be pregnant not back to trying again.

Unfortunately I find my self unlucky enough to be back here 😭

I had my first MMC in June after TTC our first for 3 years and had an awful experience with medical management.

Found out I was pregnant again in October went for a 7 week scan to find only an empty sac.

And they say lighting never strikes twice eh?

I'm absolutely broken.

PurpleOrchids12345 · 06/12/2024 12:29

@CJHR18 I’m so so sorry to hear this! Are they confirming a miss miscarriage or do they plan to scan you again next week? My heart is broken for you.

CJHR18 · 06/12/2024 14:46

@PurpleOrchids12345 thank you lovely.

I have to go for a repeat HCG blood test to see what's happening. If they've dropped then it can be a confirmed failing pregnancy. If they stay the same then it could be an ectopic and a psuedo sac.

They said it could be a early pregnancy, but I know this is impossible as my first positive test was the beginning of November.

I really hope they don't want to rescan as I really don't want this to be a long drawn out process again 🫠

Oh no, I am so sorry to hear this. <3 No useful comments but sending love.

PurpleOrchids12345 · 07/12/2024 14:23

@CJHR18 when is your blood test? Do you have any pregnancy symptoms? My heart is broken for you as I can only imagine the emotional roller coaster of finding that positive then getting those scan results :( I’m 9 weeks down the line from when my mmc was diagnosed and after two medical management my pregnancy tests are still faintly positive :( Mother Nature can be so cruel

CJHR18 · 07/12/2024 17:14

@PurpleOrchids12345 I've been for my blood test today. They had risen by 15% from 775 to 800 and something. They're a bit concerned it might be an ectopic and that the sac could be a psuedo one. I've got to go back on Monday for some more bloods. Hopefully they go down on their own by then 🙁 X

Thank you @TruthUnwinding xx

Armdjm · 07/12/2024 17:57

@CJHR18 oh I am so so sorry! That is just devastating! I can’t even begin to imagine how you feel especially after already going through the process in June!

will they do anymore scans or just the bloods?

PurpleOrchids12345 · 07/12/2024 18:59

@CJHR18 sorry to hear this. I hope it will do down on its own too. Did they mention what the next steps were?

Bellebg · 07/12/2024 21:29

@CJHR18 so sorry to hear that you are going through this again. Thinking of you and hope you have answers soon. I know nothing that any of us will say will help but really hope that you are ok x

Armdjm · 11/12/2024 16:20

@CJHR18 how are things from your recent blood test?

OP posts:
CJHR18 · 11/12/2024 16:47

@Armdjm oh well, yes again it's been an absolute experience.

They rose by 10% and then dropped by 10%. Had a scan that showed no change from the previous one. Bloods today have dropped by 40%.

They offered me an MVA and methotrexate but I've declined as I think I may have passed the sacs naturally today. They're happy to monitor my bloods weekly.

Bizarrely I was broken last week but because of the drama with the potential ectopic, a natural miscarriage seems like the best outcome 🫣

Armdjm · 11/12/2024 16:55

@CJHR18 ah I’m so sorry, but yes like you say the better of the outcomes rather than needing more intervention as well!

Armdjm · 11/12/2024 17:04

@CJHR18 thank you! I’m yet to have a first scan as I’m really putting it off due to last time. The anxiety just never leaves does it

CJHR18 · 11/12/2024 17:10

@Armdjm Unfortunately not and time just seems to go backwards in those first few weeks!! X
