Apologies, I didn’t realise the last thread had filled up.

Some links to online resources that may be useful to anyone currently or recently going through this awful experience:

You are not alone - please post whatever you need, or just read if you aren’t ready to talk. I’ve had 5 MCs, and am now sadly at the end of my IVF journey, but want to keep this thread going for everyone else who might find it helpful.

@Hopefulhoney6 Thank you for sharing. I actually found another thread you were on when I was researching possible complications after surgery, and it was really informative. I think I'll go straight to private care if I suspect this happening to me. Thank you again and I hope your procedure in April resolves it completely.

@fleur89 Haha really! Would you mind sharing what you're taking? This is my ridiculous list:

Vitamin C
Calcium
Vitamin D
Magnesium
Wild Nutrition fertility supplement
Coq10
Vitamin E
Vitamin B6
Vitamin B12
Açai
Green powder supplement (concentrated green vegetables - tastes disgusting)
NMN (nicontinamide mononucleotide. There have been some interesting studies in this reversing age-related infertility in mice plus some anecdotal accounts in people)

God it looks completely round the pipe when I write it all down.

fleur89 · 16/03/2023 13:31

@countrypunk sure!

Most of what I take is captured in "FH Pro for Women" - you take 6 tablets per day. Includes myo-inositol, choline, d-chiro inositol, methylfolate, CoQ10, etc. as well as the full array of multi vitamins and minerals.

On top of this I take extra Vitamin D (immunity boost), vegan omegas (so as not deep water sourced), and extra double strength iron (I'm deficient if I take only single dose).

Hopefulhoney6 · 16/03/2023 13:52

Thank you @fleur89 and @countrypunk ❤️

I take a Pregnacare, Vit B50 complex, Vit C 1000mg, magnesium glycerate, Omega 3, CoQ10, Vit E. Plus some £££ herbs from my acupuncturist (considering whether I actually want to continue!). So think we’re all crazy…

countrypunk · 16/03/2023 14:15

Thank you @Hopefulhoney6 and @fleur89

FH PRO looks brilliant. I haven't seen that supplement mentioned before. Are they capsules you can open? I struggle with swallowing really big pills so tend to empty capsules into a glass of water.

countrypunk · 16/03/2023 14:16

Sorry to have hijacked the thread somewhat. If I have any more questions after this I'll DM people. Hope the list of supplements is useful for others.

fleur89 · 16/03/2023 14:19

@Hopefulhoney6 @countrypunk no worries, glad to share.

I came across FH Pro when living in Hong Kong. Everyone orders online supplements from iHerb over there and it was the highest rated fertility supplement on the site based on customer reviews. I stocked up before I left as it's way cheaper there than here. Seems to be very comprehensive in terms of ingredients.

You can open up the capsules and stir them into drinks if you prefer 💗

countrypunk · 16/03/2023 14:24

@fleur89 Thanks so much. I'm gonna get on it.

Take care of yourself ♥️

Eggling · 17/03/2023 09:52

@Hopefulhoney6 I'm glad you're getting it sorted, I'm so sorry you're having to though, yet another thing to have to deal with! Thank you for sharing as it might help other people if they see your post.

@countrypunk I hope you're doing ok, what time are you booked in tomorrow?

I am also on a million supplements! For a while now I've been on:
Pregnacare
Coq10
Probiotic
Metformin (this is prescribed by my clinic for my pcos)
I've also now added floradix iron on the recommendation of my acupuncturist, plus taking myo-inositol and Agnus castus which previously helped with getting me to ovulate. Plus eating a ton of greens and adding spirulina powder to everything!

I have my first proper acupuncture session this afternoon so quite looking forward to that. I hope everyone is doing ok ❤️

countrypunk · 17/03/2023 12:20

Afternoon @Eggling 💜

Booked in for 7:30am but I imagine I'll have to wait a while. I've had some pink discharge this morning which is my first sign of anything happening. I'm guessing it'll take a while to get going though, probably won't happen before tomorrow?

Glad it's not just me on a crazy cocktail of supplements! Enjoy your acupuncture. Hopefully you'll feel nice and zen when it's finished.

I'm sorry I haven't caught up with the thread but hoping I can join

I had a miscarriage last night after experiencing progressively heavier bleeding for 5 days. I was 8 weeks pregnant and had seen a heartbeat at a private scan just last weekend.

I've cried a lot and feel shaky, not sure what to do with myself. Thankfully I have a brilliant daughter who is 2.5 and who is still making me laugh even on this dark day. I'm not sure I've processed it yet.

My husband is working abroad until Wednesday so hasn't been here for any of this which has made it so much harder. Grateful to have my mum and sister here.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 17/03/2023 15:59

@Hankthehonk oh, no. I'm sorry.

countrypunk · 17/03/2023 15:59

I'm so sorry @Hankthehonk Flowers

It's the shittest club but everyone in it is lovely. You'll find lots of support here.

It must all have been a horrible shock after so recently seeing a heartbeat. I'm sorry your husband is away but glad you have your mum and sister there to support you.

countrypunk · 17/03/2023 16:01

Posted that before I'd finished.

I think lots of us take a while to process. Crying is good - do that as much as you need to. And talk to us.

Lots of love.

Hankthehonk · 17/03/2023 17:08

@Mumtobabyhavoc @countrypunk thank you both. I'm so sorry for your losses too x

Sunbird24 · 17/03/2023 17:11

@Hankthehonk so sorry for your loss 💐It’s a crap gang to be in, but you’re never alone

@Hankthehonk I'm so sorry, it's so so hard and I totally hear you in feeling like you don't know what to do with yourself. Try and let your mum and sister look after you. It must be extra hard with your husband being away, I'm so sorry you're going through this.

Good luck tomorrow @countrypunk I'll be thinking of you 🤍

HopeAndStrength · 18/03/2023 08:52

Hi everyone,
I am so very sorry that this happened to so many people, I hope you are doing OK @Hankthehonk.
Thank you for helping others by sharing your experiences here and providing a little space to process my own MC.
I apologise if this is TMI, I will try to limit details but please skip past it if it might trigger past experiences for you.
I had a MC on Thursday when I believe I should have been 12 weeks along with my first pregnancy (no scan so not sure how far we had actually made it).
It came on overnight with light bleeding, but I spoke to 111 and agreed I would see if it got any worse by the morning.
In the morning, the bleeding was heavier so I phoned EPAU and was waiting for a callback.
After a few hours the cramps were so severe and prolonged that I ended up in A&E with intense pain and heavy bleeding/large clots.
I'm so grateful to the doctor and nurses who looked after, monitored and stabilised me. I was shaky for a while there.
They managed to get a gynae to perform an internal check, and they suspected the MC was complete but booked a scan for the next day.
The scan confirmed that there was nothing left except some blood in the uterus lining.
Based on history from the day at A&E they say it is most likely I had a complete MC, but it has to be listed as a pregnancy of unknown location as I had not had a scan before and the pregnancy test is still faintly positive.
At this point I was just grateful that I shouldn't need further treatment and for a kind nurse who took time to ask how I was feeling after reading the notes from A&E, it made me feel like the surreal experience was being acknowledged.
I have been advised to do another test in 2 weeks to check it is negative.
We would really like to try again in future, but wow this has given me a new perspective and a wariness about my own body. For now I will do my best to rest and recover.
Thank you for providing this space to post. Writing it down has been helpful.
Much love to you all x

Hankthehonk · 18/03/2023 16:02

@HopeAndStrength thank you for your kind words and for sharing your story. My mc was on thursday too, it's very strange to know someone else was having the same terrible experience at the same time. I'm really sorry this happened to you, I'm glad at least you had good care by the sound of things.
I had a scan at hospital today which did indeed confirm the "pregnancy tissue" is all gone. I'm still bleeding but it's manageable and not painful. They expect it will continue for a few days.
I had managed to keep what I can only think of as the baby, and I was pleasantly surprised by how sensitively the nhs is dealing with it. It will be cremated alongside and the ashes scattered, along with others from losses that have happened at a similar time.
I can't speak highly enough of everyone I encountered in the NHS during this process, they've been acting in a way that is trauma informed and leading with kindness.
The sonographer today happened to be the same one who had done my positive scan on Sunday, I could tell she was surprised and upset for me.
It was a tough morning but it has helped a little with some kind of closure. Just trying to focus on my daughter now and take each hour as it comes.

Laura7899 · 18/03/2023 23:01

@HopeAndStrength you really hit the nail on the head with the MC giving you a new wariness of your own body that’s exactly how I feel I just couldn’t find the words. We will try again but I need lots of time to process this and recover. Sending you hugs X

fleur89 · 19/03/2023 06:30

@Hankthehonk @HopeAndStrength so sorry for your losses, sending lots of love.

I'm now 5 days post medical management for MMC. I'm experiencing pretty intense night sweats (think the need to change your pjs kind) and lethargy (no energy, passing out on the sofa whenever I can between looking after my 12 month old). Has anyone experienced similar? I guess it's just hormones going wild.

countrypunk · 19/03/2023 08:14

Morning everyone. Sending special love and support to @Hankthehonk and @HopeAndStrength ♥️ I'm so sorry for what you've been / are going through.

I just posted the below on another thread and thought it might be helpful to anyone lurking who's had a MMC and is considering their options.

I had my surgery yesterday. I feel completely physically normal this morning and have had minimal bleeding so far.

I was on a small ward with about 5 other women having similar procedures. The nurses were all women too and absolutely lovely. I had to go in at 7:30am to get settled on the ward and go through some pre op stuff. You meet the nurses, the surgeon and the anaesthetist. Then you wait!

It was quite a long day and I didn't have my surgery till 3pm. That was only because of a backlog from the strikes and another woman who had quite a long operation before us.

I've never had a GA before and was quite nervous. I was also quite tearful and the doctors were amazing. Lots of hand and head stroking. I fell asleep, had a nice dream and woke up in recovery. I had some period pain and the nurse gave me strong painkillers right away. Little bit of bleeding. Then a cup of tea and a biscuit and my partner picked me up an hour later.

I felt quite woozy until I went to bed, and this morning I feel right as rain. I wouldn't hesitate to pick surgical management again. I think the best thing about it is that you're in a hospital surrounded by trained care givers and feel completely safe.

countrypunk · 19/03/2023 08:16

Hello @fleur89 💛

Hope you're OK. I haven't had this (yet) but just wanted to say hello and send some support. I did have it during IVF treatment because, as you say, hormones went haywire. It's probably your body readjusting. I'm sure you'll speak to your doctor if it carries on and you're worried.

Eggling · 19/03/2023 08:18

@HopeAndStrength and @Hankthehonk thank you for sharing your stories, I'm so sorry you e had to go through this.

@fleur89 I was completely exhausted a few days after my miscarriage completed, a tired ness I've never felt before, literally could not open my eyes in the morning. I'm also running hotter than usual. I'm guessing it's hormones too!

@countrypunk I'm glad it went smoothly, and you're feeling physically well this morning.

Sending love to everyone today ❤️

Shyquiet · 19/03/2023 09:46

Sending my thoughts to everybody in this thread x

Back to work on Fri, was a bit surreal day (only my line manager knew I was pregnant and had a miscarriage). Physically feeling better, my bleeding ended after 8 days - still waiting to do the pregnancy test. Looking forward our two weeks holiday in April, planning to go abroad instead now instead of Cotswolds. Hoping my periods starts in April, so can start ttc again.

We were invited for family gatherings for today, but declined the invites - planning to stay at home in pyjamas, not logging into sm.

countrypunk · 19/03/2023 10:41

Thanks @Eggling Hope you're feeling OK this morning. Beautiful day here 🌞

@Shyquiet A holiday sounds lovely and much needed, we're going to do the same in April. Totally relate to the not wanting to do big family stuff at the moment. Enjoy your duvet day.
