@Rebecca9876 the only thing I would say is that from my experience a scan can't tell you much at all at 5.5 weeks however if it gives you reassurance you need that's ok. I've decided I won't have a scan next time til at least 7-8 weeks. I hope your appt goes well for you will be thinking of you xx

VenusStarr · 23/10/2020 09:40

Hi @Rebecca9876 I'm so sorry that you're bleeding. I hope you get some clarity today from the clinic and hope all is well.

Hi @Mini82 I'm sorry you had a stressful day and you're in uncertainty.

LRL12 · 23/10/2020 12:54

Thanks everyone ❤️ Such a relief to know things are going well still away to go but for the moment I’m very happy,
Yes @KtAgs & @Hippo20 were all very close together.
Did you get information about Nuchal Scan and Fetal DNA test? Not sure what to do initially I thought I’d definitely have the scan but it’s only 85% accurate and the other test is £450 which is fine just not sure if I should look around and see if I can have it done cheaper closer to home? What you guys thinking?
Hope you hear from clinic soon @Rebecca9876 hope all is well ❤️

Hippo20 · 23/10/2020 19:10

They do the nuchal scan as part of the 12 week scan on the NHS. I'm having it done as I'd rather know if there is a higher risk, even though it's not certain. They do a blood test as part of the screening but I'm guessing the fetal dna test is different/more comprehensive. What do they check for?

HoldingOn2Hope · 23/10/2020 19:41

@Rebecca9876 hope you're appt went ok today xx

I'm also in the same situation with having a day 8 scan which I really didn't want but this is what happens when AF arrived earlier last week and meant my days 9-11 fell on a weekend. My follicles were about 10mm too, Dr S said they could be become dominant but it's hard to tell but has given me the trigger for day 13. He said follicles grow by 1mm a day and he would have liked to have seen them bigger, but Dr Google says they can grow btw 1- 3mm a day so I guess I'm keeping hopeful. I do feel I'm losing faith now...had a very emotional week and just generally feel like I want to pack it all in.

Hope everyone else is having better days xx

KtAgs · 24/10/2020 07:57

Hi @LR12. I was a bit like you in my appointment with Dr S. I was sure I was going to have the NIPT and nothing else. I've actually booked the nuchal scan and I'm going to try and pay for the NIPT from my NHS service privately. Mr S said the nuchal scan is like 90 minutes and they estimate your chances of pre eclampsia and all sorts and tbh I was so impressed with the scans so far, I thought why not? Plus, I've organised it so I get a scan a week for a few weeks with my dating scan in the middle. Then I can cancel the private nuchal scan if the NHS brings something up.

Even though statistically its unlikely something has gone wrong, I'm still pretty nervous now. I'd put off my booking scan until yesterday because I hate having my green notes taken off me when I miscarry. I've set all these rules for myself with this pregnancy to bring a bit of order to my world full of chaos 🙄.

@Rebecca9876 hope the scan went OK.

Sorry you've had a hard week @HoldingOn2Hope. The triggers and scans so stressful! Sending love xx

I was thinking the same @KtAgs I’m pretty sure I’m going to have the NIPT when I go for my 12wk scan, I currently have the Nuchal scan booked then as was only extra £75 so thought why not but now I’ve had time to think about it I might try and get the NIPT done with NHS and then the Nuchal scan at CRP,
Hope everyone’s ok and looking after yourselves ❤️

Rebecca9876 · 25/10/2020 10:44

Thank you so much for the well wishes ladies.

@Mini82 what stage are you at at the moment (sorry I’m not sure), are you now waiting until a 7-8 week scan?

@HoldingOn2Hope sorry you are having a rough time, it can be so tough. I think I remember Dr Google telling me that after the trigger shot, the follicles have a final growth spurt and can still grow a fair bit in the last 24-36 hours (on top of the 1-3mm per day anyway), if that helps?

My scan showed that I have a rare condition called a hematoma which means blood is pooling inside my uterus and likely caused the bleeding and cramping I had. It looks like I haven’t miscarried for now but the risk is now higher, on top of being high risk anyway of course. Dr S has adjusted my plan and prescribed some new meds so I’m now nervously waiting for a repeat scan in a week’s time to see how things have gone.

And there’s another wrinkle which I’ve also been processing. Although at 5.5wks the scan couldn’t tell us much more/ it’s too early to see a heartbeat, what we did learn is there are two sacs not one... So am super nervous as it puts everything at even higher risk, but am also tentatively really excited. It’s a rollercoaster!

Sending so many good wishes to everyone xx

HoldingOn2Hope · 25/10/2020 11:27

@Rebecca9876 What a rollercoaster day for you. The hematoma can be common as I know a few ppl that have had it and the pregnancies progressed and now have healthy babies, I hope this is the case for you too.
The 5-6 weeks scans can’t tell you much, I experienced this in my last bfp. I know how anxious and nervous you must feel, rest and try and keep busy with movies or puzzles and wait for your next scan. I think that’s what @Mini82 meant that she would wait until 7-8 weeks if she got a bfp as she’s in the same situation as me with follicle tracking.
I really hope these follicles grow a little more in the few days 😬
Keeping everything crossed for you and I hope this is your rainbow or maybe even rainbows 🌈🌈

HoldingOn2Hope · 25/10/2020 11:30

So as Dr S suggested to test ovulation with sticks this month as I had the follicle scab too early.
Anyway I’ve used clearblue digital tests for years. And I’m now getting an error each time I’ve tried it. What am I doing wrong? This is the 3rd pack ive tried in the last week or so. Returned one as thought it was faulty and got another - same issue. So thought maybe it was a faulty batch from Asda so Clearblue are sending me a new one. Ordered one from amazon and same issue. I’m following instructions and doing what I’ve always done. I’m just baffled.

Rebecca9876 · 25/10/2020 13:10

Thank you @HoldingOn2Hope that gives me some more hope! And I really hope your follies do lots of growing over the next few days, will be thinking of you xx

LRL12 · 25/10/2020 18:37

Fingers crossed for your scan this week @Rebecca9876 hope all is going well,
@HoldingOn2Hope I’ve only ever used the stick ovulation strips from savers never used the clearblue ones.

KtAgs · 25/10/2020 19:32

I've got a CB monitor @HoldingOn2Hope so I know the sticks are pretty fail safe. Sometimes mine didn't wet properly or I bent them and I got an error. Hope this isn't TMI but do you put them in your urine stream or in a pot? Perhaps try the other way round for the next one? I always think CB find ways to make money out of us. Do you temp too? I'm hoping for your follies too x

Glad you've found a reason for the bleed @Rebecca9876 and have everything crossed for you.

Good luck for everyone getting scans soon xx

OP posts:
HoldingOn2Hope · 25/10/2020 20:40

@KtAgs I've tried both in a pot and in urine stream. I've used them for 3 years almost but I've questioned myself all day as to what I'm doing wrong. 3 different packs can't be faulty. I haven't used them for last couple of cycles but Dr S said to monitor ovulation this time as the scan was too early. It's kind of stressed me out today - I hate all this testing 😑

HoldingOn2Hope · 25/10/2020 20:42

@KtAgs I am temping too well only kind of started yday. Did temping last cycle too but I don't really get the whole temping thing if I'm honest. It did rise the day of trigger and stayed elevated.

HoldingOn2Hope · 25/10/2020 23:28

So I've tried a 4th box and guess what? Still comes up with an error. What's going on? Could it be the meds? The hydroxy and progynova that I'm currently on? It did this last month too and I thought the test was faulty. Strips are giving me a negative. I'll call the cb helpline tomorrow as I'm so confused.

KtAgs · 26/10/2020 09:52

Sounds like a good idea to call the helpline @HoldingOn2Hope

I used a CB digital monitor because you have to use FMU. I've never got a good reading another time of day. Have you got any cheapies just to corroborate?

Temping - just do your temperature when you get out of bed first thing from about day 9 to when you get a temp rise. I downloaded fertility friend as it was really clear and easy to use.

Good luck!

OP posts:
HoldingOn2Hope · 26/10/2020 11:27

@KtAgs helpline said it's definitely an error in the way I'm testing 😑 I'm like I've done this for the last 3 years. But I get their point too, 4 different boxes can't be faulty. Maybe it's a sign to just stop 😑😑😑
I'm temping and doing strips too.

HoldingOn2Hope · 26/10/2020 11:53

Just an update on my Cb testing!
Tried again with the instructions the advisor gave me which was to count to 15 like this..
1 Mississippi
2 Mississippi
Etc etc so longer than 15 secs and not to replace the purple cap!
It's worked - low fertility so I've not yet ovulated

Was just getting anxious as I have to trigger in a couple of days but Dr S to monitor ovulation too!
Oh lord! There's always something to worry about lol

LookingforAnswers86 · 26/10/2020 12:09

@HoldingOn2Hope Glad it's working for you! There is always something to worry about ...😬

LookingforAnswers86 · 26/10/2020 12:11

Also great news on the scans girls!

@Rebecca9876 I hope all is good for your scan next week!

KtAgs · 26/10/2020 12:50

Huzzah @holdingon2hope. Glad its working for you. One less thing to worry about!

OP posts:
Everhopeful35 · 26/10/2020 16:04

@HoldingOn2Hope I just saw your posts about the CB monitor. I'm pretty sure that the first time you start a new pack and pee on the stick for the first time, your first reading will be low fertility. To be on the safe side, I'd do a second one in a few hours. I've had this happen to me before and just wouldn't want you to miss ovulation. It's almost like the monitor needs a first 'base' reading.

I hope everyone is okay and I'm so thrilled to hear about scans going well. It gives us all some much needed hope. Welcome to the newcomers too, and sorry that you find yourself here.

We are due to see Dr S next week to discuss the results of my two Humira injections. And because we have so many questions related to our recent ivf disaster, we've booked two back to back appointments. I do feel like he rushes you out of there sometimes and I didn't want any unanswered questions. We're also awaiting more test results this week - my husband is having something done called a sperm aneuploidy test, to see if there's a percentage of his sperm that is abnormal. Really hoping that's not the case.

HoldingOn2Hope · 26/10/2020 17:17

@Everhopeful35 thank you for that I'm defo doing another this eve.
Hope your appt with Dr S goes well, he does rush you out at times, I felt like that last week almost like I was still wanting to say something and he had already wished me a pleasant journey home 🙄 It's good you have 2 appts although you shouldn't have to do that with the amount he charges for 1 appt. however if it answers your Q's and means you have a plan in place it's worth it. Xx

Lalaifa · 26/10/2020 19:09

@Everhopeful35 good luck with your appointment next week. I hope you get some clarity. Hope the sperm tests turn out fine too.
@HoldingOn2Hope So annoying the CB monitor tests! I hope it will work for you next time. I got fed up with using them as I could never get a positive LH surge, even though I clearly ovulate. So I bought ovusense and I am trying it this month. Any one else has tried ovusense? And what do you think about it? Did it work for you?
