This thread has been running for many years and has proved invaluable for so many of us who have suffered recurrent miscarriages as we go through this incredibly tough journey.

Discussions cover immune issues, NK (natural killer) cells, thyroid issues, PGS and many many more.

@rebecca9876 what a relief. Thank god. You deserve some good luck! It's great the clinic saw you at short notice too.

@VenusStarr I'm the same as you, feel like I'm wasting time if not trying. I'm sure you will feel better with a few wines in you over Xmas. You'll get there! X

Wireless77 · 08/12/2020 15:53

@VenusStarr, been thinking of you. Have that wine and blue cheese and paté! I find looking forward to 2021 helps a little (new year, new hope). x

Daffodil21 · 08/12/2020 16:32

Massive sigh of relief for you @Rebecca9876 . I'm sorry to read what a shit time you've have, and I'm sorry you had to deal with seeing your lost twin and dealing with that all over again.

@VenusStarr we've spoken on various other threads, I'm sorry to read you didn't get your bfp after some unfortunate false hope this month. Enjoy all the wine and pate in the meantime Wine

Hazlet2 · 08/12/2020 17:55

@Rebecca9876 what a massive relief! You absolutely deserve for things to go smoothly and you are not being ungrateful in the slightest. It must've been really tough to go through that stress and to pass your twin too. Take it easy and hope you can enjoy the announcement as you planned!

@VenusStarr sounds like a plan to me - enjoy the wine too🍷 xx

KtAgs · 08/12/2020 18:03

Such good news @Rebecca9876. Sounds like the baby in there is a tough cookie 😊. That being sad, I'm really sorry you had to lose the other twin like this. It must be a mixed bag of emotions. I wish things were a bit simpler for you. But at least you're in the right place as we're all kindred spirits ♥️ aka we're complicated ladies! Take your time with whatever you need to feel. What a roller coaster.

@VenusStarr sorry you've had some false hope. FWIW i have pics of my early tests in other unsuccessful months where I know i saw a line. Holding out in later months really helped me. Xx So do whatever you need to do. Have as much wine , pate, blue cheese and sex as you feel works for you. This process is painful and get joy where you can. Xx

@Rebecca9876 you’ve had such a rollercoaster of emotions these last few weeks, you must be exhausted. So sorry you had to lose your twin in such a way but you are giving the rest of us so much hope that Mr S really does make sticking babies ❤️ I hope you manage to have a restful evening and 🤞🏻 you can start enjoying your pregnancy a little bit soon xx

@VenusStarr I’m totally with you on ttc this month. If I have a break I always say to my husband that what if this is the ‘good egg’. I was going to suggest that because you are having ovulation intralipids, would it be ok if you were a little bit late with positive test intralipids? Plus I know you said that your cycles are pretty regular but stranger things have happened and you never know, you may just ovulate a day or two later this month. 🤞🏻 it all works out for you.

I’m on my tww now 😩 one thing I wanted to ask advice on was if anyone has prebooked intralipids before? I’m due to test next Wednesday but I can only get to the clinic on Thursdays. I don’t want to find that I get BFP but the clinic can’t fit me on. Equally don’t want to tempt fate and book them in early because I think that will only add to my disappointment.

Everhopeful35 · 08/12/2020 19:00

@Rebecca9876 Such great news that your little one is safe and well. I breathed a massive sigh of relief when I read this just now!! I totally understand how awful it is reliving the loss of your twin though 😔 Be good to yourself and, as others said, hopefully you can start to enjoy your pregnancy now.

@Jellystar23 Re intralipids, I got my BFP over a weekend and emailed the nurses straight away. They emailed me back pretty much as the clinic opened on the Monday and said to come in that day. I did have to wait a while when I arrived - they were really busy and I got the feeling they had just squeezed me in, so had it as soon as a chair became available for a drip. I reckon they could get you in at short notice.

Jellystar23 · 08/12/2020 19:32

@Everhopeful35 thank you!! I’ll hold out and wait then and hope for the best.
Hope all is ok with you, did you decide to go ahead with the scan before Christmas after? (Apologies if you’ve already said)

Everhopeful35 · 08/12/2020 23:18

@Jellystar23 I did decide to have the scan on the 22nd in the end. The nurses said I'd need the intralipids that day and didn't want to give me them if I hadn't had the scan, so that decided it. But I'm very nervous 😥 x

Mini82 · 09/12/2020 15:03

Hi All,

I've been off forums for a while as I took a break from fertility meds etc.
I'm in a dilemma...I've been referred to a private ivf clinic for one round of ivf funded by nhs. Surprised that I got my appt within a week of the referral as was expecting to be waiting at least 3 months. Had my initial consultation and all went well, consultant is lovely and was very helpful. The appt lasted 1 hour 40 mins and both DH and I were shocked as usually it's a 20 min job and your out the door!
The issue is that consultant doesn't want me to continue with hydroxy, intralipids etc.
Mr S said he will support me but I don't know what to do. Anyone been in this situation and had ivf on nhs and seen Dr S alongside? Xx

Mini82 · 09/12/2020 15:09

Gentle congratulations to those who have had positive tests and scans, wishing you all the best and hoping these are your rainbow babies xx

Whyisthistakingsolong · 09/12/2020 15:17

@Mini82 that's good news! Afraid I can't offer any advice though.

Has anyone had a nightmare getting hold of the clinic? The phone just rings off and I've been waiting since Monday to hear if they can scan me next week. In my last appointment, I was assured this wouldn't be a problem. I'll be annoyed if I miss out a month ttc because they now can't see me!

Rebecca9876 · 09/12/2020 15:35

@Whyisthistakingsolong trying emailing, that always works. I never call as they don’t seem to pick up. Email the nurses as they pick up quickly but I usually copy the office too just in case

Am behind on messages but hope everyone is ok. My bleeding was terrible overnight but seems to have slowed today so hopefully that’s it now. Just waiting for my 12 week scan with the Professor - had the nhs one this morning and all looked good! :) Sending positive vibes to everyone x

Whyisthistakingsolong · 09/12/2020 15:42

Thanks @rebecca9876 I hadn't tried the nurses for an appointment!
that's brilliant news! I hope you can start to enjoy your pregnancy now.
I just found out a friend is pregnant with her 3rd. As usual, I'm happy but very envious!

Rebecca9876 · 09/12/2020 17:03

@Whyisthistakingsolong well not sure if they’re “meant” to but they have helped book an appointment for me before. Hopefully they can at least pass on a message x

LookingforAnswers86 · 09/12/2020 18:40

@Mini82 Sorry I dont have experience with IVF but what's the consultants reasoning for not wanting to use them? I am guessing they dont believe in immune issues and these medications? They seem pretty safe drugs to take in pregnancy so I am not sure why it would matter to take them alongside...I know lots of IVF places do...

VenusStarr · 09/12/2020 19:01

I'm sorry you had more bleeding overnight @Rebecca9876 but so pleased to hear that all is well with baby. Lots of love.

@Mini82 that's good news about the ivf coming through quickly. I have my nhs round available at a private clinic and Dr S said he'd amend my protocol if I was going ivf. It does create a bit of a dilemma for you, was it just that the consultant doesn't agree with immune factors? What support would they give you / what protocol are they suggesting? My clinic said that they'd only be giving me progesterone to support a pregnancy but I did try that in my last pregnancy and it didn't help, so if it was me I'd be leaning towards doing the immune protocol alongside ivf. I'm not sure if that helps or creates more confusion for you.

Hope you get through to them @Whyisthistakingsolong are you doing superovulation this cycle? I think we're doing another natural cycle and if no luck will do SO in January.

Period arrived today, I don't feel too bad about it, seeing it as a fresh start. It's quite a painful one but I guess it is my first proper one since the miscarriage as the one I had before was when the tissue passed. X

Whyisthistakingsolong · 09/12/2020 19:54

@VenusStarr good your period came, as at list you can move on from this cycle? no I'm not doing SO, but thinking about it for next Yr. My last scan showed white spots: either retained pregnancy tissue or scar tissue, so need a repeat and maybe hysteroscopy if not gone. emailing worked and they have me booked in for Monday thanks @rebecca9876 for the tip!

VenusStarr · 09/12/2020 20:04

Oh gosh @Whyisthistakingsolong glad you're in for Monday 🤞 hope things go smoothly for you. I'm there for my intralipids on Monday morning. I honestly think the waiting for my period but knowing its a bfn is the worst, now I've come on, I'm focusing on boosting our chances.

I've got a blood test tomorrow, as my amh was quite low, Dr S wants to see what my fsh is like as the last time I had it done was 2 years ago. It was normal then but am a bit worried that my fertility is dropping off a cliff. X

Everhopeful35 · 11/12/2020 08:43

Ladies, I have woken to bright red blood this morning 😔 There was quite a bit on the loo roll and and the toilet. I'm completely freaking out. It seems to have slowed since the bout when I woke up but I feel like I should ring the clinic for a scan - what do you think? Will they see anything at only five weeks? I'm so upset. Five/six weeks is always my danger zone and, bang on cue, u start bleeding. x

VenusStarr · 11/12/2020 08:48

Oh I'm sorry @Everhopeful35 I know how scary this is. Try and get hold of the nurses for advice. Can you up your cyclogest to 3 pessaries? Hopefully you can rest today too. Sending you a big hug ❤️ xx

Rebecca9876 · 11/12/2020 09:11

@Everhopeful35 oh no I’m sorry. But look, I am testament to the fact bleeding may not always mean a miscarriage, I’ve bled throughout this pregnancy (still am). I would definitely call the clinic and try to get scanned. Also try your local EPU in case they can see you sooner.

Speak to the nurses as well. The clinic will probably increase your cyclogest dose (mine went from 800 which is 2 at night to 1200 which is 2 at night and 1 in the morning - I’ve always put them in my back passage but you will definitely want to now with blood in the vagina). They may also put you on nifedipine. They will probably ask you to stop aspirin ASAP.

I really really hope it’s all ok, thinking of you xxxx

Whyisthistakingsolong · 11/12/2020 09:14

@Everhopeful35 I'm so so sorry to hear.so stressful for you. I'd email the clinic ASAP. Sending a hug, and best of luck xx

@VenusStarr do you mind me asking how old you are? I don't think reserves would drop-off that much in two years would they?? Good luck at intra lipids. If my scan is OK I'll have them Monday too. X

VenusStarr · 11/12/2020 09:22

Good advice @Rebecca9876, I hope you're doing OK, sorry to hear you're still bleeding xx

@Whyisthistakingsolong I'm 37. My amh has gone down to 5.5 from 9.5 in February. Dr S was a bit concerned by the drop, so wants the fsh to see what is going on. I know amh isn't a measure of my egg reserve and its more of how I'd respond to ivf drugs but still worried. But, I know I ovulate regularly and I have conceived 4 times in the last 18 months and I've got the treatment plan now, so I'm trying to focus on that.
Fingers crossed for your scan on Monday 🤞 xx

Rebecca9876 · 11/12/2020 09:26

@Everhopeful35 - ps I see you asked about seeing anything - yes they will at 5 weeks. My first bleed was at 5 weeks and they saw the gestational sacs plus spotted the hematoma that was causing that bleeding (it’s now a different cause) - I remember someone saying at the time that quite a few of Dr S’ pregnant patients had hematomas so it could be that. I have everything crossed for you, I know how upset and worried you must be. I hope you can be seen quickly and let us know how you are xxx
