This thread has been running for many years and has proved invaluable for so many of us who have suffered recurrent miscarriages as we go through this incredibly tough journey.

Discussions cover immune issues, NK (natural killer) cells, thyroid issues, PGS and many many more.

@Everhopeful35 I've got everything crossed for your scan. This is a new pregnancy and your under the best doctor for your care so your baby has the best possible chances. You've had no signs of mc. I'm sure you and baby will both be well at your appointment and I hope that provides you some comfort. I think we all know that pregnancy after miscarriage is such a scary time but you are so strong 😊 good luck at your scan xx

VenusStarr · 03/12/2020 21:38

Thank you both @LaurenAB94 and @Everhopeful35 I do think it's too early. I looked back at my last pregnancy and I actually think my squinter was 11dpo, not 10dpo. So there's a little glimmer but I think my gut feeling is I'm out. I'll keep you posted though 😊

I'm sorry you're feeling like that @Everhopeful35 it's totally understandable but must be exhausting ❤️Have you got your scan booked in? Time seems to stand still in early pregnancy. I've get every hope for you. X

Wireless77 · 03/12/2020 22:06

@VenusStarr, I have never had a positive test on day 9, not even a shadow. My day 10 positives have been so faint, they almost looked negative and it took some serious effort to see the line. Don't count yourself out yet, and don't count yourself out tomorrow either in case it's still negative. Give yourself time until day 12 at least. Some people won't get a positive result before day 14-15. Implantation can happen between days 6 to 12 with day 9 being the most common one. It then takes 2 to 3 days for hcg to be high enough to give a positive test. In my personal experience (5 pregnancies), if it's negative on day 12, it's negative, but I don't call it until then. I keep my fingers crossed for you, and try and keep myself sane until my test day on Monday. :-)

VenusStarr · 03/12/2020 22:14

Thank you @Wireless77, you make a lot of sense :) 🤞 for both of us x

VenusStarr · 04/12/2020 06:41

Morning all. I think I have a super squinter. It's barely there and I kept losing it and finding it again. Kind of glad I did test yesterday so I know the difference, if that makes sense. Decided to book the intralipids for Monday and then worst case I can cancel if it comes to nothing. But I think it's there, but I'm not sure I believe it. I had a real sense of dread this morning and I didn't want to test. X

NICK7nick7 · 04/12/2020 08:49

@VenusStarr that sounds really positive, everything is crossed for you, and good idea to have the intralipids booked in in case xx

LookingforAnswers86 · 04/12/2020 10:18

Ooooo 🤞🤞 there must be something in the air this month :)

Wireless77 · 04/12/2020 10:21

@VenusStarr, this is promising!! Happy for you and fingers crossed these Intralipids will go ahead on Monday! x

Everhopeful35 · 04/12/2020 10:48

@VenusStarr Oooh I hope this is your BFP! Keep us updated. xx

VenusStarr · 04/12/2020 11:18

Thank you everyone. Still super cautious as its so early I'm just not certain at all. I've emailed the clinic and I'm in for Wednesday. I'll retest on Sunday as I think that will give me a definite answer 🙏 that this is good news!

@NICK7nick7 I'm halfway through your rainbow running club podcast (had to be at work but listened on my walk this morning) it's really brave to share so openly ❤️

Everhopeful35 · 04/12/2020 12:29

@NICK7nick7 Could you paste a link to the podcast please? I'd love to have a listen 😊 x

VenusStarr · 05/12/2020 05:53

I've tested again this morning (knew I wouldn't wait until tomorrow) and I'm just not sure. There is definitely something and slightly easier to see but nothing that I would confidently say is positive. I told dh yesterday and said if it comes to nothing I would not be classing this as anything than a couple of dodgy tests. So still in limbo, I'll stay on the progesterone as I'm not due on until Tuesday / Wednesday.
Hope everyone is OK x

Whyisthistakingsolong · 05/12/2020 11:16

@VenusStarr that's exciting, why don't you upload a pic so you can get our expert squinty eyes on it too! Crossing fingers.

@Everhopeful35 I can so relate to what you are saying. Just try to think positively if you can, you're under Mr S now and he's really an expert at this. X

VenusStarr · 05/12/2020 11:34

@Whyisthistakingsolong honestly it's so faint. I'm not convinced at all. It's one of those where you look at one angle and it's there but tilt and you lose it. My camera barely picks anything up. My gut is saying the tests are faulty, they're just not convincing lines. I'll get more tests today and test again tomorrow and Monday just to be sure, but I don't think it's actually anything. If I wasn't temping, Monday would be 12dpo (my chart says I ovulated on the same day as my positive opk so puts me as 11dpo today). X

LaurenAB94 · 05/12/2020 15:04

@VenusStarr I've had tests before that I wasn't sure if was positive because I could only see the line in certain angles and a few days later been able to see them more hopefully your line will get darker over the next few days it's still so early 🤞🏻xx

VenusStarr · 05/12/2020 16:26

Thank you @LaurenAB94 it's weird being in limbo. I am OK if it's not worked this time as its our first month. Hopefully by Monday it'll be clearer 🤞 I'll keep you posted xx

VenusStarr · 06/12/2020 07:36

I woke up with period pain this morning and the test is definitely negative today. I'm putting it down to a dodgy batch, I wasn't convinced on Friday so don't think it's a chemical. I'm OK though. I just need my period to hold off for a few days otherwise we won't be able to try next cycle because of the Christmas closure. X

LaurenAB94 · 06/12/2020 11:25

@VenusStarr aww I'm sorry. Your not due on till Tuesday I think you said so hopefully it'll hold off until then I'm sure it will 😊 you said your cycles are normally regular. Then you'll be able to try again in December and hopefully you'll get your BFP in January

Everhopeful35 · 06/12/2020 16:11

Oh @VenusStarr - I’m so sorry it wasn’t a BFP, but hopefully you can try this month (while fully enjoying Christmas with wine etc!) and January will be the month! xx

Ladies, I wanted your opinion on something. I have my first scan, at 6.5 weeks, booked for December 22. Obviously, it’s only a few days before Christmas and both me and my husband are very worried about getting bad news and our Christmas being ruined. We are considering cancelling it (unless, of course, I start bleeding / feel I need to get checked out) and then booking a private scan elsewhere around 7/7.5 weeks instead. Is this sensible or a bit mad? Our fear is not only getting bad news but also not getting definitive news - I.e. we can see there’s a heartbeat but it’s not strong enough, come back in a week... etc. We’ve had this before and don’t need that kind of stress again! My other question is (and I think someone else raised this), where do I get intralipids while the clinic is closed? This I’m supposed to have them every four weeks and that puts my next one at December 28th 😬 xx

LaurenAB94 · 06/12/2020 16:53

@Everhopeful35 I would have your intralipids early, have them on the 22nd.
I've had 4 miscarriages and I know how heartbreaking it is to get bad news or uncertain news which is almost worse when your left in limbo but think positively your on Dr S plan, there is no reason why your baby won't be strong and healthy and by 6.5 weeks you should be able to see the heartbeat and if you did imagine the joy you would have this xmas.
I know it's close to xmas but you would be able to relax and enjoy xmas knowing your baby was fine.
It upto you and you could have the scan after Xmas.
I think you should do whatever your going to be most comfortable with. I'm a researcher and a worry woman so i prefer scans just to reassure me even if they just tell me baby is fine they day.
I'll keep everything crossed for you xx

KtAgs · 06/12/2020 17:52

Hi @Everhopeful35, that sounds really scary and I know the feeling of not wanting to ruin Christmas. I suppose what has helped me in the past is thinking of the small things I can look forward to if it is bad news and promise myself a treat. I don't know if that would help you? The other thing is Mr S won't let you get intralipids somewhere else. Even people in Scotland have had to travel down to Epsom as he says he can't vouch for other places' quality. So I would probably go for the scan with the clinic. Plus, he won't want you taking any medication longer than necessary if there's an issue. But I think you've got so many things on your side this time. I've got everything crossed for you. Xx

Daffodil21 · 06/12/2020 19:39

Hi ladies, I don't have anything diagnosed yet as was just about to go to Dr S for investigations but have just got my bfp so going to leave it for a bit and see what happens. I posted a little while ago and got some helpful advice, so I have to admit I've been dipping in and out of this thread ever since.

@Everhopeful35 I just wanted to say that I am in a similar position to you. They had booked me a scan on 23rd Dec where I would be approx 6 weeks. So obviously the limbo stage of 'is there a heartbeat or isn't there' (I've also previously seen two heartbeats at this stage that didn't continue, so a heartbeat that early on is not reassuring to me). I have since cancelled it for the exact reasons you describe. I don't want bad news just before Christmas, to be honest after the shit time we've had TTC and 3 failed pregnancies, I just want to have a nice few days with family and if it's going to be bad news, I don't want to know at that point. I don't think you'd be mad for cancelling, as I have done exactly the same. Hope everything goes well for you x

Rebecca9876 · 06/12/2020 20:06

@Everhopeful35 you need to do what’s right for you so I will only say what I would do.

I always prefer to know rather than not know. I don’t find anything completely reassuring about scans anymore to be honest having had so many with heartbeats and then lost them anyway, but I do like the knowledge they bring either way. Especially because my miscarriages are always missed and I hate carrying on thinking I’m pregnant when I’m not.

Try and have some faith in the treatment and the odds, they are in your favour after all! The chance is you will come away with a photo/video of your little one on the usb stick they give you after that scan. At 6.5 weeks and knowing when you ovulated (you did SO didn’t you?) it will have a heartbeat by then. If the worst happens I know it will be hard but at least you will know and can drink etc. at Christmas as well as plan ahead.

The only other thing is wouldn’t you prefer to follow the normal treatment plan with the clinic you’ve put your faith in who know all the background/meds rather than somewhere else? When I had my 6 week scan Dr S found my hematoma and immediately changed my medication/put me on new meds to stop it getting worse. Otherwise it could have comprised the pregnancy. It’s just an example of why it might be sensible to stick to the timeline and get checked sooner than later, I’m not saying anything like that will necessarily happen! Do what makes you feel most comfortable but don’t forget to have some faith as well as being nervous. I try to tell myself this all the time but I know it’s hard!

On the intralipids, I would speak to them tomorrow because you should book in to have them early before they shut (that’s what I’m doing). It’s fine to have them early just not later after the normal 4 week cycle xx

Rebecca9876 · 06/12/2020 20:15

Sorry @Everhopeful35 just to add - pretty sure they will have booked your intralipids for immediately after the 6.5 week scan thinking about it? I’ve had scans and intralipids after that fell 3/3.5 not 4 weeks after the last set (just the way it worked out) x
