Yay, I started a new page Grin

digitalgirl · 07/02/2011 22:15

Very wise choice lunatic- how exciting knowing when you get to finally meet your baby!! I can't wait!!

Watching obem on catch up. But prob should go to bed as eyes are straining.

Am lurking still, trying to carry on as normal (in between hyperventilating and bawling my eyes out). AF was due today...that's one bridge crossed.

(also doing that thing, which I think is a self preservation thing, where I suddenly wonder what the hell I'm doing...can just about cope with ds, have just got to the stage where I can do interesting things with him and have a bit of my own life too, the balance is perfect. Ridiculous, no?)

banana87 · 07/02/2011 22:31

Lunatic Yay for Wednesday!!

Waves to everyone else!

Am currently arguing with myself about NK testing or not...will be phoning them tomorrow...I wonder if people get a negative result too?? Would I know if I had high NK cells?

Another glad you have gone for section lunatic Good Luck! Although you'll be fine, but take a few words of advice from me. Take it easy after the op for weeks! Not just days lol I am suffering this week and was back at docs this morning for stonger pain killers. I know i hardly had achoice with two boys back n forth to hospital. Two appts left tomorrow and fingers crossed I can rest and enjoy my new boy!

Hairy I am so sorry you have to go through this again. I do admire your strength to make a decision. Look after yourself.

congrats to all the new BFP's I will congratulate you all individually tomorrow!

Hope all the newbie pg ladies are coping okay, first fw months are tough but hang in there!

Nothing new to update here, just been trying to rest Hmm Did school run on my own this morning and struggled so going back to DH doing it for me for the next week and Ill try again next week. Adam is at fracture clinic tomorrow to get his finger checked out. Oliver is getting weighed tomorrow afternoon which I am stupidly nervous about, fingers crossed he's gained, although I think he has, he nearly fits into newborn clothes now :o bless him, hes so dinky! He has short legs as well which makes him look smaller.

I got a new niece at the beginning of the month but have to wait until 25th feb to see her as they live 200 miles away!

I think the dreaded AF is its way given all the period pains I've been getting. It arrived exactly 28 days after Adam and Matthew and we are on day 24 now I think so its about right for the witch to show up! Then the coil will be fitted. Although I know I am not done Shock My own baby is making me broody, how does that work then? Be a few years though! We need a bigger house and a bigger car first lol

Sending love to everyone and hugs to those that need them xxx

Oh I'm behind. I know! , It's been a long day and I'm very tired, but I promise to pop back and catch up properly tomorrow if I can.

Just wanted to send supportive vibes to Lunatic. You've made the right decision on this one, I'm sure. Once your little one is in your arms, I'm sure the entry route won't seem to matter anymore. Grin I hope tomorrow passes quickly for you. The wait must be torture at this stage. Try to get some rest tomorrow and the same applies for after your section, where possible of course! Hugs.

lovemysleep · 08/02/2011 09:25

confu3ed gggrrr about cancelled appointment.

lunatic blimey! Wed is D-day -wishing you lots of luck x

Julez understand your nerves - hope Oliver has gained the weight and that Adam's finger is getting better - poor thing!

hello to everyone else.

5 weeks tomorrow - this week will be a bit of a milestone as my last mc (no 4) was at 5+2, so am a bit restless and emotional. Doesn't help taking the steroids, as I'm irritable (and hormonal), but I'll suffer if they help to keep this baby...

Crap nights sleep too, DH is annoying me (just being a man!).

Hey-ho - must keep my chin up and just get on with it all though HmmHmm

stillfrazzled · 08/02/2011 10:36

Lunatic, yet another one glad you've decided on the c-section.

Recovery from mine's been easier than the natural (well, induced but came out the normal route!) one, and at least you have the consolation of knowing the baby will be out and safe within minutes. Really looking forward to your birth announcement!

Julez, I did the nursery run for the first time this morning. Took aaaaaages so I feel your pain. Fx that Oliver's expanded and Adam's finger is mending.

Hi to everyone else, hope all going well.

JugglingMama · 08/02/2011 12:17

Hello Everyone.
Its nice to have this forum..if ok I'd like to drop in, though I dont always have computer access as we are moving at the moment. Its encouraging and saddening to see the range of experiences on here, but talking helps. I have had 4 mcs, 1 10 years ago, and 3 consecutive ones last year. Im 41 and have one DS who is 2 and a half. I am currently 9-10 wks pgt, on aspirin and daily 800mg progesterone since 7 wks. Im a mixture of both hopeful, having gone a little further than the last 3mcs, and terrified because of my history and age. I had a scan at 7wks and again yesterday and both showed hb and things looking ok. I still daren't exhale. The scan showed 31mm, which dates almost 10wks, a week later than my calcs, and my dates are pretty exact as you all know if you are ttc! odd. Ive another consultant apt next week on the 17th, next thing to worry about. This is an awful mixture of slow-moving time and fear..my heart goes out to everyone who's been through all the trauma of recurrent mc..This is my last attempt, so here's hoping!

ClaireDeLoon · 08/02/2011 14:17

Welcome Juggling a hb at 10 weeks is great and very positive news. I have everything crossed for you.

Lunatic ooh tomorrow! I'm also glad you've opted for the section and I hope it all goes well.

stillfrazzled how is lovely Finn?

lovemysleep sounds like a rough couple of days and not sleeping can?t help. All you can do is keep going and know that we?re all here rooting for you.

Glitterybits how is it all going? Is your Doppler picking up the hb?

Julez hope Adam got on OK at the fracture clinic and good luck for the weigh in this afternoon.

banana87 for me, if all my other tests came back clear I?d get the NK testing done privately, just for peace of mind. How did you get on with phoning them?

digitalgirl I can?t believe it?s only just AF due time ? seems like you have known for ages.

milkyway2007 just out of nosiness and as someone with no DC?s yet what do they do to induce you?

lovelybunch I would still go to your follow up gynae appt ? what did you decide in the end?

hairylights how are you feeling now? The sac being in the right place is a very good start, when is next scan?

con3used when are they going to reschedule you for? Very bad of them. I hope you don?t need a repeat, I had to have a repeat ERPC with the last one and it doesn?t help with your emotional recovery to have to go through it all again.

MummyAbroad I?m sorry you?re going through such a tough time but glad you?re getting counselling. I?m always very impressed at how quickly you organise things once you have started on a course of action. You?re very determined and strong.

coconutfeet how are things now? I?ve only had one ERPC and it tooks 4 weeks to for next AF. Actually I had two ERPC?s but it was 4 weeks from first not from repeat IYSWIM.

iggi I second your comment asking for info on bloodtests and will repeat it shortly! I have the Lesley Regan book but am struggling, I need a checklist before I see the RMC.

A big wave hello to all those just lurking!

I'm starting to stress about our appointment at the RMC - I put on 2 and a half stone after last mc and I was already overweight. It means I now have a BMI over 30 and I'm worried they'll just tell me to go away. I started WW last week and am exercising and we won't ttc until I get my BMI down to a healthy level anyway as there are enough stresses without worrying what being overweight does to things.

ClaireDeLoon · 08/02/2011 14:19

Can I ask those who have had RMC tests what tests they were given?

I just feel very aware that the St Mary's clinic is considered the best and they do extra tests as I understand things. Yet I've never heard of the RMC at the Royal Free until I was referred to it. I want to go armed with a list of possible tests and if they don't do that to ask why etc. Does that make sense?

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 08/02/2011 14:43

Afternoon everybody :)

digi I am doing that too. I keep thinking what am I doing? DD is great and now we can't afford to move house! Gah, I'm never happy!! But I DO want this baby more than anything so for me to accept living here for another year then so be it.

banana How did the phone call go re the NK tests?

julez HOpe the weigh in and fracture clinic both go okay this afternoon :)

GLittery Hope you're doing okay :)

LMS I am not sleeping very well either which is daft because I am obviously extra tired. 5+6 for me today, going by my own calculations.

frazzled Hello to you, hope Finn is doing okay :)

juggling Hello and welcome, although sorry for your losses. But congratulations on your pregnancy. Great news, everything crossed for you. :)

Claire Feel for you, losing weight can be really hard and even harder when you get told nobody will help you until you reach a certain weight. I hope you get on ok with your weight watchers. Start off with gentle walks, that will help :)

Anyhow, I called the gynae secretaries this morning. Phonecall went a little like this:

Me: Hello, it's my name I have an appointment on the 16th Feb, which is next Weds, and I have discovered I am pregnant. Will Dr still want to see me or perhaps discuss blood results over the phone?

Her: I'll just check.... Erm I won't see the doctor in time before your appointment tomorrow to ask him so just come. Do you know that you are only coming to discuss blood results and that you possibly have PCOS?

Me: Erm Yes, I was there at the appointment Hmm I definitely have PCOS. The bloods are just a formality. Would you please ask Dr and get back to me as my appointment, as I have already said, isn't until next week, not tomorrow.

Her: Yes I'll ask him. Goodbye.

So I'm still going as the secretary was a useless bint. She didn't ask for a phone number or clarify my name or anything. She didn't relay what she was asking or sound like she wrote anything down so I fully expect no call back and for my consultant not to even know I'm pregnant when I get there. Hmm Angry

digitalgirl · 08/02/2011 16:51

claire I had day 3 hormone tests done after 2mcs, can't remember exactly what was involved but I do know it included FSH, LH, testosterone, prolactin and a few others.
They didn't bother with the day 28 progesterone test as it was clear I was ovulating. After the third mc I had tests at my local hospital for anti-phospholipid antibodies, lupus anti-coagulant and anti-rubella antibodies. I had a full thrombophilia screening at UCH which included Factor V and MTHR (or something along the lines of that). They also did genetic karyotyping tests on DH and I. And for some reason, did a semen analysis on DH.
It's possible that St Mary's do more tests than I've had.

All tests came back normal, apart from DH's semen analysis which if I had not been getting pregnant would have worried them, but because we had quite a decent 'hit' rate wasn't any cause for concern.

coconuts I had a similar situation when ttc#1. Having tests for PCOS, then got pregnant before I could have my follow-up appt with consultant. Had a scan booked in to check ovaries, tubes etc asked if I should cancel and they said yes. Then called back and said, no come in. Went in at approx 4 weeks and they saw the bean in the right place and said rest of my bits were very healthy.

lunatic not long to go now!

julez school run already?! And AF already?! Don't think I got my first post-pg AF till DS was 6 months (was BF-ing though), hurt like hell.

confu3ed was there any explanation for the cancellation? Has it been post-poned to another date? Again, I had that when I was referred by my GP after 2 mcs, they put the appointment in and then cancelled it when they realised I'd only had 2...was rather annoyed.

jugglingmama best of luck, hope this works out for you. It is bloody terrifying, but it sounds like you've already jumped a few hurdles. Great that you're measuring larger rather than smaller.

mummya how's tricks? Glad to hear the counselling is working out.

hairylights hope you're keeping yourself really busy till Friday.

banana I can't remember where I got this from, but was told/have read that part of the reason that the NK Cells theory hasn't been accepted as a definite cause of MC is because high NK cells can be found in up to a third of women, including women who haven't had rmc. So it's likely you may have high nk cells but for those not to be the cause of mc. It's also been suggested that nk cells will always be high after a miscarriage as it is those cells that a part of the process of rejecting a pregnancy that isn't doing what it's supposed to. I think LMS said further back in the thread that she had other pointers that could be put down to an over active immune system.

Had a fairly strong line on the HPT this morning, so started the day quite positively. Hoping this feeling continues for a bit.

hairylights · 08/02/2011 19:29

Just popping by to say hi to lunatic I'll be thinking of you tomorrow.

Iggi2011 · 08/02/2011 19:52

Digitalgirl - glad out the strong line! I found the list of tests you posted today very helpful. When I asked what I was being tested for I wasn't happy with the reply,as it was very vague, a "full range of tests" being one comment. I really want it written down for me, am hoping can ask for a printed copy of the results when they come.
I think am due to ovulate this week so back on the ttc rollercoaster again, though with less hope than I've ever had.
Well remember to check for Lunatic's news tomorow!

Glitterybits · 08/02/2011 19:55

Utterly swamped with work tonight. Promised catch up will have to wait, but I am lurking.

Lunatic all my love to you through the next few hours and hope tomorrow comes quickly for you. I imagine the emotional rollercoaster is going at full pelt at the moment, but I'm sure the joy and relief you'll feel tomorrow will be out of this world. You so deserve it. Everything is crossed and tightly clenched for you that everything is as straightforward as it was with dd1, just through a different door this time around.

Ooh I'm all emotional and excited for you and will be lurking for updates over the next few days. Big supportive hugs coming your way. Xx

Coconutfeet · 08/02/2011 21:32

Haven't had time to read the thread properly but just wanted to pop on and wish Lunatic lots of luck for tomorrow. I hope it all goes well.
