Great news Lucky and congratulations purequeen

Well I thought I was finally getting the start of my first af since my mc last month and had an appointment booked for tomorrow for the hormonal blood tests required by the consultant at fertility clinic. Something made me do a hpt this morning and a rather worrying 2nd line appeared. So now I guess I won't be having those blood tests tomorrow but just feel numb at the thought of that positive test this morning. I had browny pink cm sat and sun but none today but it's all too similar to my last three pregnancies which have all ended in early mc.

Now do I call the fertility clinic and tell them or maybe leave it a bit and see what happens. I don't have an appointment yet as we need to get all tests done first. I have started the 75mg aspirin I was told to take from bfp by the epu team last time. Also on 5mg folic acid.

Guys I am so scared, this is my 3rd pregnancy since jan.

Lola tentative congratulations! Were you actively trying or holding out for testing? Fingers crossed this is third time lucky for you in 2011. Apologies, it's late and my phone is too slow for me to scroll back to check your history. Just didn't want your post to go unresponded.

Hello frazzles happy baby means healthy baby in my experience.

I am getting rather nervous about demanding drugs off the midwife tomorrow. What if she won't give them to me? And Mr S isn't back for a while? It's a three day week then I've only got one working day in London next week before I'm away for the best part of three weeks. Eek!

Congratulations to Pureequeen and Lola. Nerve wracking times, I know. We will all be here to hold both of your hands.

Lucky pleased to hear your scan went well and all is as it should be.

Digital I don't imagine you will have problems getting meds off the midwife. They must have a system in place for times when Dr S is away, they can't just leave you hanging. It was his NHS Midwife who sent me my prescriptions I think.

I guess I'm now on my 2ww for the first time again in 6 months. Scary!

Bloody hell, these steroids are making me sooo hungry! I dread to think what I'll be like pregnant on these things. I'm going to have to exercise some serious self control or I'll be the size of a house!

Spoke to the lovely midwife, and she will write me up a prescription tomorrow. Yipee! I'll get a prescription for 4 cycles' worth and then be reassessed if I still haven't conceived. Then if I've not been suffering too badly with side effects I'll get another 2 cycles, then presumably will have to take a break from them. Hopefully, it won't take that long.

kittens do you know if eating things that make you feel fuller for longer will help?

frazzled nice to hear from you, I think you're definately doing the right thing by not weighing him every week. If there was something wrong with his weight you would know and like you say he's happy and healthy so all good.

Lola congratulations on the bfp I know how scared you must be feeling I had bright red blood after I got a bfp and its all v.scary. I'm trying my best to feel positive even though I have only just gone six week and hoping to see a hb on thursday. fingers crossed for us all x

Glad you got the prescription sorted digi hope things start working straight away for you.

kittens hope the hunger calms down, I've done nothing but eat over the past two weeks.

Hi to everyone else x

Digital glad you got your prescription. I had a rather amusing "other line" conversation with the doctor's surgery this afternoon about whether I preferred the Cyclogest that I put up my back or my front passage. Luckily it was only my best friend who was on the other phone waiting for me to finish my call and not a client! I didn't realise you had to choose one or the other. I thought you could just see what worked best at the time.

Hmm, I must do a bit of research on low GI foods then and see if that makes a difference. I just scoffed my dinner and then a yoghurt and I'm still hungry. I feel like I could eat a whole meal again.

oh hairy that's gone fast. You're bound to be a bit scared, potentially life changing results.

kittens low GI is supposed to keep you fuller for longer. Recommended diet for those with PCOS. I have never tried it, I don't get on well with diet restrictions but the PCOS book has a really good section on food recommendations and recipe ideas. If you don't have the book I would be happy to send it to you I don't really refer to it anymore so it is just sitting in the cupboard no use to anyone in there.

Hope eveeyone else is ok, sorry for not doing more personals.

All ok my end, almost 18 weeks, thinking my HG is slowly lifting so just trying to make it through the next couple of weeks psychologically intact, before my scan.

Report
Havingkittens · 27/04/2011 18:30

Coconuts that's very sweet of you. Only send it if you don't need it, it's light enough not to cost lots to post (I can Paypal you the postage if you like) and if it doesn't mean you have to go out of your way to stand in a post office for ages.

So far my main side effects are either hunger or hearburn. A fair bit of weeing too. Still, I guess that will distract me from becoming an obsessive symptom spotter over the next week or so, as I won't know whether it's the steroids or pregnancy!

Coconuts a lot of people seem to be recommending acupuncture for HG and MS in general. Have you tried it?

Report
ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 27/04/2011 20:07

No I haven't tried it. I have always been curious and considered it when TTC looked into it and didn't really find anyone close enough in my area with a good enough reputation. Stopped thinking about it for a bit and then obviously got hit with HG. Am on the HG support thread - it's fab to be able to talk about these bodily functions so freely Grin and am hopeful it is tailing off for me now :) I'll have bloody jinxed it now I bet! But on the thread acupuncture was recommended by a couple of ladies, just wished I lived in a bit of a more active area of the country instead of lazy town!

I doubt the book will cost alot to post. I really donn't want any money for it. If you PM me your name and address I will get round to posting it within the next week or so, after the bank holidays so I know when my PO is open properly. I really don't need it anymore. I got a wealth of info from it and was lucky and got pregnant and had been referred to a consultant so the only reason I kept it was to read about PCOS in regards to pregnancy. Read that and threw it back in the cupboard. I'd rather it went to someone who will use it, and you can pass it on when you have finished with it if you want.

I also understand how you feel when it comes to symptom spotting. My HG meds make me so dizzy, faint and tired I didn't know whether it was that or the pregnancy making me feel so rough. Hopefully now I can not feel ill for a while :) have been medicine free for two whole days and feel totally different.

Just got a question for those on the prednisolone treatment from ovulation.

I took my first one on the second day or my surge, assuming that ov occurs within 24-36 hrs from surge. So, I was just wondering, if it turns out I took it a couple of days earlier that I officially needed too what happens if I run out of tablets (ie. 14 days worth) before my period or possible BFP? This is only my 3rd cycle since my last ERPC and they have all been different lengths so not really sure how long this one will be yet!

Report
digitalgirl · 28/04/2011 14:39

Kittens the midwife told me to take a First Response test 10-14 days post ovulation and if it's negative to stop taking the steroids even if your period doesn't come as she said 'steroids can delay your period'.

Havingkittens · 28/04/2011 14:49

Thanks for that Digitalgirl. I actually just spoke to the midwife who advised me the same thing! I thought I'd better call with it being a bank holiday 'til Tues and my last tablet on Thurs.

Rationally that all made sense before I even asked the question but the Prednisolone has turned my brain into some sort of grasshopper today and I'm bit manic. PMSL. I was hoping that would help me get more done but I'm finding it hard to focus on one thing at a time today. I'm quite easily distracted at the best of times!

kittens starving hungry with swiss cheese brain Smile you are not painting a very encouraging picture of life on steroids! Looking at my calendar I'm due to start them just before a two week break from work. Probably a good thing too...

My prescription arrived today. Another week till AF, then the guessing game of 'when will I ov?'. Usually it's day 23-25, but am hoping the metformin may shave a few days off like it did with this cycle. So clearly dh will be on swi duty from day 10-26.

Hi all, got back from my long holiday yesterday. I will try to catch up later - I have about 20 pages to read!!

Just a quick update from me - I've been getting a very faint positive since about 2 days now. My period is due in 3 days, so will wait until then to test again. Like the last few times I can't bring myself to be overjoyed or excited, so will see how things go.

As far as treatment goes, I have been on high dose folic acid for about 2 months now, and am also taking CoEnzyme Q and Selenium. I took my first dose of baby aspirin yesterday. Came back to find letters from the hospital telling me that my Vitamin D levels are very low (15) and have been told to make an appointment to get a Vitamin D injection and then get my calcium levels tested a month later. I've tried to do some research into Vitamin D deficiency and recurrent miscarriages, but can't seem to find anything substantial, although my GP did tell me 2 months ago that there has been a link established between Vitamin D deficiency and miscarriages quite recently.

Other tests came back fine - I was pregnant with a little girl who had a normal genetic karyotype.

I hope everyone is doing well, and having a nice bank holiday morning :)

Milkyway tentative congratulations! I just wanted to come on and say that my vit D levels were 16 and they recommended I take 25 ug of Vit D3 (has to be 3, not 2!) so you might want to go and get some of those whilst you're waiting for your appointment for the injection just to be sure you're doing all you can. Both RMC clinics I've been to now, the NHS one and Dr Shehata both actively prescribe Vit D.

milkyway tentative congrats from me too! I really hope it works out this time. Hope you get your Vit D injection soon. I also take 25microg of Vit D3. Are you pleased the karyotyping came back normal?

I'm also waiting for my results on that. It hadn't occurred to me I'd find out the sex. I sort of don't want to know. I've been coping by not really humanising the baby from my last miscarriage. But knowing the sex will change all that. I can't stand the thought that my body rejected a little girl or a little boy. But I guess I'll just have to deal with that.

iggi good luck with your appointment.

coconuts hope the hg has stayed away.

I'm 9dpo, temps are slowly beginning to drop so only a few more days to go till I'm officially in my ttc cycle. It's been over 7 weeks since the erpc, funny how time goes quickly and slowly at the same time.

On another topic - Wasn't the dress lovely!
