MummyAbroad & Banana - not been back to the hospital yet, got an appointment Tuesday but hope that there is nothing there, they did tell me that they used ultrasound in theater to ensure that they got it all, so fingers crossed. Bleeding has slowed down now but I have the mother of all headaches and no amount of painkillers will even dull it :(

Milky great that you are feeling good, I still feel awful if this ever happens again I will ask for a medically managed MC as the ERPC is a killer and takes so long to recover. Lied to work this time, and now have to keep it up when I go back! I have mixed feelings about trying again, have been so poorly this time that my body is taking forever to recover. DP has a point though in so far as time is marching on and I am 35 next week so if we wait and then find out there is an issue it may be too late. God I never thought that it would be this hard to have a baby!

HairyClaireyFairy I am so sorry for your loss. :( xx

Still frazzled - Yes it is slowing down so probably was an infection, also didn't wake up with night sweats last night! But headache :(
Beginning to wonder if I had an infection the whole time, as I had the most horrendous night sweats whilst PG and thought that this was a symptom, not sure though as I literally didn't sleep for weeks as so hot and sweaty.

Am so so sorry hairyclairy Sad there is only so much disappointment we can take and it is understandable that you want to make a definite decision to end that cycle of hope and despair. Good luck to you and your dh with moving on.

lunatic glad to hear you have a bucket fanny! Will lurk intently over the weekend.

stillfrazzled gosh, must be terrifying thinking how close you were. But it didn't happen and Finn is here. Definitely thank your lucky stars, but it's not something you can spend too much time going over.
Interesting about all the women in scbu having had mc's before. Makes me so very grateful that ds was born healthy.

banana good luck getting back on the ttc wagon. Does this mean our list needs updating?

Well after two days of positive thinking and the beginnings of symptoms I had an awful, miserable day yesterday having woken up feeling distinctly unpregnant. And no symptoms at all. I know I'm only 13dpo today but with every pg I've always had some cramping in my lower ab area overnight - which I find reassuring. Have had very little of that this time. Today I had some back ache which I always get just before I start to miscarry. Thankfully I was out and about with ds so no time to dwell... Basically I've completely lost my confidence Sad. I knew it wouldn't be long till I started to freak out, but I suppose that is completely normal considering my history.
Please remind me that all pregnancies are different and even though I think I'm a pro (this being my fifth pregnancy) my body may still react differently to the hcg. Or am I clutching at straws here?

Hi everyone, gosh I've missed too too much.

HCF So so sorry for your loss. You sound very together and strong. Please be kind to yourself and let yourself grieve. :(

frazzled interesting that so many women have had mcs. I wonder why it is such a taboo subject that nobody talks about? The news about Finn must be very scary for you to digest but yes very lucky that your waters went in the first place. A blessing in disguise. Is there a reason why the IUGR wouldn't have been detected if the fluid was retained?

lunatic Hope your DD1 isn't too poorly. My DD has developed a new cough hopefully she doesn't get poorly again. Good news about Monday :) How do you feel about being induced? (if there is a bed in SCBU?) Perhaps it will happen naturally in between then though if you cervix is favourable already and you have been tightening :)

justmee Can't believe you are over 7 weeks already. Let me know when you go for your next scan won't you? Yeah I maybe further on but I'm not sure. All I know is I can't fit in my clothes anymore!!

ClaireDeLoon Definitely take those bits with you. They are inmportant pieces of information. Everytime I go for a scan the scanner is always shocked to see a bi-cornuate uterus and proceeds to tell me with great anticipation so it must be quite rare. It always goes something like: "Ooohh you appear to have a bi-cornuate uterus." Me: "Yes I know Hmm" Grin

banana did you know there was a Wine thing now!!?? I am finding it hard to cut out coffee now. I know I'm allowed a certain amount but I used to drink it all the time so it is going to be hard. Hope you don't struggle with the Wine and tea :)

milkyway glad things went as well as possible Wednesday.

Right ladies, managed to steal a few minutes sooner than I thought...

Had a nice time with friends in Centre Parcs, so was good to get away.

Am now 4 weeks pg apparently - had to get Healthcare at Home to come and give me an intralipid infusion on wed as part of my treatment plan for NK cells. Was fine, just a bit boring really - took 2 hours to do. It's supposed to coat the NK cells, so hopefully they won't attack this pg. Also on 40mg of prednisolone now - no noticable side effects yet, but think these will come.

Feeling sick on and off (yeah!), and boobs are tingly/weird, and seem to have gone off brown sauce.....I love the stuff normally.

digitalgirl fingers crossed that you get the result that you want. I think we all go symptom mad, as we are bound to be after what we've all been through.....I am having some different symptoms that I've never had before, such as some early spotting/feeling implantation, and I didn't even have that with DD, so I do think you can get different signs.

stillfrazzled scary thing about Finn, but bloosy brilliant that he is safe and sound. As fopr the mc's, I'm always surprised, as they reckon only 10% of the population suffer from recurrent mc - yet there seems so many of us.

confu3ed hope you are feeling a bit better, you sound like you've had a rough time.

banana87 I did a detox and saw a nutritionist when ttc dd, and I reckon it helped, as I didn't do it with any other pgs. I didn't do a detox this time, but have been eating healthily, not drinking booze, cut out caffeine for about 6 months prior to ttc. Have got pg in the first month of ttc, so hopefully, that would mean that it can work for some people.

I know I've missed some others - sorry! You all do talk ALOT!!!! So, I'm hoping I'll pick up the pace now I'm back home.

Take it easy, girls.....

Thank you so much for all your kind wishes, it's crazy we did'nt tell any family this time round was easier not to iyswim. At least we don't have to tell anyone the bad news.
Dh has taken today mon and tues off work and ds's social worker (he's disabled) has arranged emergency respite for mon night so that is one less worry.
I told my Mum tonight and of course she'd guessed that I was pregnant but was completely ok with the fact we had'nt told her, she will step in now and take me and pick me up on mon as dh does'nt drive.
I am remarkably calm and together this time round and really have accepted that this just was'nt to be. Five m/c at 9-11 weeks, aps and factor v means that I am so very blessed to have my gorgeous dc and for that I am so very thankful.
I will still hang around though if that's ok and follow how you are all getting on.
Thanks again all
Claire x

HCF I am so very, very sorry. I think you're enormously brave and decisive in the circumstances. Please do stick around in case it all gets a bit much in the coming days, weeks and months. Be extremely kind to yourself and have a huge unMNetty hug from me.

Mummy I know the mw would have shouted at me, which is precisely why I hid the doppler when she came over. She did tell me that she wasn't even supposed to listen, but thankfully she understood that I needed the reassurance. Some of the protocol now is so stupid. How it can change from one child to another is totally beyond me.

frazzled Phew! That's a scary thought and one that doesn't really bear thinking about. I'm so, so glad Finn is okay. Interesting about the other Mum's in the SCBU all having had past issues too. I wonder if there must be some connection, although I often think it's a miracle anyone conceives and has babies at all now that I know all the potential hurdles along the way. Oh to be ignorant and go from positive pee stick to baby without a care in the world.

Coconuts Yey for feeling sick as a dog and constantly tired! Grin

digi Yes, all pregnancies are totally different regardless of gender of baby, multiples, etc. etc. I'm on pg number three and this is the very first time I've been struck down with ridiculously sore boobs. Before these last few months, I was pretty much unaware of them since they arrived and now I can barely put on a bra without wincing. I've also had weeks where I felt fine apart from the odd bout of nausea. It IS totally normal for you to have lost your confidence given your history. Try to keep busy. I know it is literally a battle to get through the days sometimes. Hugs.

Confu3ed Sorry to hear about the bleeding. I never had an ERPC but I did bleed solidly for 3 months after my mc and it reached a point where the doctors washed their hands of me and told me to sit it out armed with shedloads of antibiotics. I wish to God I'd kept pestering them at the time as I imagine my subsequent decision to go on the pill to stop the bleeding may have caused further problems with my fertility. I suppose what I'm trying to say in a very round-about-the-houses way is that if you have any concerns whatsoever, please don't sit on them. Go and get checked out and badger them until someone helps you. Constant bleeding is not normal for anyone, regardless of the miscarriage. If I'd put my faith in the 7-10 days they tell you it will be in the literature, I would have thought I was bleeding to death! Glad you have antibiotics, but don't be afraid to go back if you still feel unsure. It's hard enough to move on as it is without the constant reminder.

Lunatic "your fanjo's a bucket and your cervix is floppy" AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
I love how you can still find the humour when presumably more than a bit scared! Oooh tightenings and oooooh Monday!!!!??? I can't believe you're so close now. Sending lots of hugs and positive vibes. Try to stop worrying about everyone else now. DD1 will be fine. Your DH will be doing a sterling job - and we are all thinking about you here. Come on baby Lunatic!!!!!!

I'm sure there are more than a few of you I've neglected, so I am sorry. Waves and Grins to you all.

Been told that I have to have shared care because of the clomid. Does this mean anything other than the fact that I'll get a consultant and extra growth scans towards the end of my pregnancy? Also been told that I can't have another natural birth centre delivery. Quite frankly, I no longer care as long as I'm monitored and a baby comes out. All the things which used to seem so important (painfree waterbirth etc.) now seem desperately irrelevant if the chance of having a healthy baby is the alternative.

Thankfully, the mw found the baby's hb straightaway. Turns out I was looking in totally the wrong place because my baby is already quite high up. So, feeling a bit better about looking like I've eaten ALL the pies.

Tried to be brave today, took the plunge and swapped all my normal clothes for fat clothes. The last time I did that, I had to change it all back about a week later, but I'm trying to be positive this time.

Thanks for all the kind messages. I am feeling alot better today - husband has man flu Wink, so have been happily looking after him - seems to be taking my mind off things.

digital Its true that every pregnancy is different - so try to keep positive and stay happy. Sending loads of good luck your way xx

confu3ed I get bad migraines that dont go away for days. I find turning all the lights off and keeping really still helps relieve the pain. Hope you feel better soon. xx

banana - just seen your stats - I had normal bloods for clotting too, but it has been suggested they may put me on aspirin for my "next" pregnancy. I really hope things work out for you brilliantly this time.

Hi to everyone else - hope you're all doing well

Hiaryclairyfairy - I'm so sorry for your loss. I really hope the fact that you have made a decision to stop TTC gives you a bit of peace.

Lunatic - It sounds like your body is gearing up now which gives the induction a better chance of being successful. I'm sure you must be experiencing all kinds of mixed feelings about it all, but you're so close now. I really hope it all goes well for you.

Can anyone tell me how long it took them to get their first period after an ERPC? I know I'm way off as I'm still testing positive on a pregnancy test but they didn't give me any follow up info at all. I'm assuming I should have my first period before I got to the GP to get the raft of initial tests done. What do you think?

Report
lovemysleep · 05/02/2011 10:04

coconutfeet think I got my first period no later than about 4-5 weeks after my ERPC.

As for the initial batch of tests that I had done on the NHS, I had them as soon as they could get me an appointment after the ERPC. I'm sure that this was about 3-4 weeks after, and that included taking bloods from DH too, to check for any chromosomal issues.

Report
banana87 · 05/02/2011 11:54

coconutfeet The one normal recovery post ERPC (versus the 2 non-normal ones) was about 6 weeks post ERPC. This time they said they would start testing after my first period (privately-not NHS).

How are you HairyFairy? How was your scan? Worried that we haven't heard anything.

Sorry lovemysleep!

I just noticed you are under Dr. Shehata for NK cells. Are you having to pay for this privately or is it funded on the NHS? Epsom is not far from me so if I (god UNwilling) miscarry again, plan to ask to be referred to him on the NHS and will also see him with BUPA. Just not sure if either one will pay for NK cell testing?

Hi everyone been busy again since yesterday. Stop chatting so much Grin

lovemysleep Hello again, I've replied to your post on the other thread! Glad you had a nice holiday :)

HCF Hope you are holding up as well as can be expected. Hugs for you xx

glittery I know how you feel re the birthing options. I remember with DD I had an extensive birth plan with lots of things I wanted and didn't want. Now, that seems forever away, and quite frankly this one can come out of my knee as long as we both come through it ok Grin Yay for the maternity clothes :) And yay for finding a hb easily. Now you know where to look :)

Had some bad news yesterday. FIL diagnosed with stomach cancer. I have a thread about it in relationships as they are a toxic family and DH not bothered by the diagnosis so I'm in a bit of a difficult position. Otherwise all fine.

banana87 no worries!

We are paying privately, but I'm sure that I've heard of other people on some threads who got referred with the NHS. Always thought that you couldn't get treated for NK cells on the NHS yet, but I am probably wrong, as there are things that they do at St.Marys (not NK cells) that aren't available elsewhere, so I presume they do it under some clinical trial guise maybe?

I'd try and get referred to him anyhow? Maybe start the ball rolling....

coconuts sorry to hear about FIL, hope the situation doesn't get any more difficult. Families can be a pain.....

The NHS refuse to refer me, but I can see if BUPA will. The only thing is that we will be TTC soon when AF arrives. Shall phone BUPA and see what they say. Do you mind me asking how much you are paying?

HairyClairey so, so very sorry :(

Lunatic good to see things are getting sorted for next week

Quick update from me:

Scan on Friday showed a small sac like thing, with no contents. They could not confirm what this means, they could not see any sign of ectopic.

The management plan is that they have taken HCG (which is just over 5,000) and they are saying that as it's quadrupled since 26th Jan they are hoping it's just too soon to see anything. So they will re-scan me on Friday next (but no further HCG tests).

I have had a meltdown - had already written off the pregnancy while in the room waiting for the consultant to talk through things, and very nearly just walked out without talking to the consultant, because I could not bear the thought of someone else who has no idea how it feels, talking to me about it.

I had a very sleepless night last night, but been out for acupuncture and a walk so feel a little better.

I guess it's not over until they confirm or deny anything.

Sorry I've not been around, but I have had a phobia of clicking on 'miscarriage/pregnancy loss' because I'm trying not to let the thought of that enter my consciousness.
